Does the dark balloon have to be in a clear box? or are you keeping it in there for better understanding? I saw a dark balloon in the clear one, but can you just hold the dark balloon in your hand and pop it with the lazer? ALSO, does the lazer have to have a certian strength?
Yes, the Laser must have a minimum strength to pop a balloon.
Putting it in the clear box demonstrates the unique properties of a laser. Almost anything will pop a balloon. Doing it inside a box... that requires something special.

Hi Doc, would 5MW red laser work for this really col experiment.

Well, a 5 MEGA watt laser would work. The 5mW (milli watt) won't do it. I'm using a 95mW green to do the trick. Sorry.

Wear goggles while using a class IIIb laser, especially if it's a 95mW laser please !
