@crstian2009 The Captain of the plane is the father of a good friend of mine at college. She arranged for me to meet him to have a talk about being a pilot, and then he invited me to come down when he fly in next, and during the turn around, he showed me around the cockpit
@f6jordan Flight from adelaide to melbourne is only about an hour, by the time you've reached 35000, practically time to start the descent, but they do obviously go higher than 3000
I been in the same 738 of AAL and i help the captain to put the route in the FMC of the plane (i know how because simulators) and i saw the same same cockpit, the hologram and it is amazing...... good video.
Thats awesome man! I'm very lucky that my dads a pilot. My favourite is the a330 i prefer the side stick than the control column and i reckon its a much more beautiful aircraft. great vid!
Wait wait wait? Did you fly somewhere that day or you had someone with an ID card to escort you to the gate? I have to say you are a very lucky man to get a cockpit TOUR by the cpt. who's your friends dad. I do get cockpit access on almost all of my flights (after the flight) but it's quite lame compared to that since the pilots are tired and eager to get to their hotel/ do the paper work and get some well deserved rest. Thanks for sharing.
@tyyppis7 Basically the Cpt flew into Adelaide, and they had a 40min turn around before they had to depart again. I was waiting at the airport. During this turnaround time, the Cpt. came and escorted me to the cockpit and stayed there with me at all times, and basically gave me the run through as you see in the video. As you can probably tell from my voice, i was quite excited at the fact that this was more than a quick glance in the cockpit!
@averredude101 Cheers mate! Yes i was very excited at the fact that this was more than just the usual quick glance in the cockpit! The cabin crew, first officer and Cpt where all happy to have us there and answered all the questions I had with enthusiasm
That is really cool! The closest I have got to this is the simulator in Melbourne. Would love to be able to go into the cockpit of a real airliner someday. Also I never knew the -800 had HUD I thought only the -900 had them
how did you get into the cockpit

@Geminijets1100 Certainly seems mind boggling, but to be honest, most of them if you read em, they're not that difficult to understand

@Class390Freek yes i agree the side stick control makes it feel more like a fighter jet.
