  • >thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife

this is the one thats fun for me cause it has so many ridiculous loopholes

so if i covet a wife thats like 2000 miles (internet) away i m ok?

can i covet my neighbours girlfriend? (not yet wife)

this is stupid man...they really dropped the ball on that one

  • some people like bullet points

  • Master Bill

  • Seven deadly sins are for real yo. Avoid those things. Hang onto the golden rule and a handful of the ten commandments. There's a lot of truth in there. But if anyone ever tries to get you to go to church you throw them to the ground, shove a bible in their ass and shit on their face.

  • @Jebus495 So, you're catholic. Coz the seven deadly sins are a catholic thing.

  • THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE LIKE MAHER, THEY ARE NOT WELL INFORMED ten amendments is just part of the bible THERE IS LAW LIKE LOVE OTHER LIKE YOU LOVE YOURSELF which is resume of laws like rape and etc - lulu.com/spotlight/helenohenzo

  • lulu.com/spotlight/helenohenzo

  • Do not make graven images

So why is it you go into a church and that is all you see

    full of fail

  • @devante11 IN ADVENTIST CHURCH the true church THEY FOLLOW NOT IGNORE

  • @THEHELENOHENZO

Thus maybe you should all get together and agree what your book says...oh you cant as you are unclear what it says

  • @THEHELENOHENZO

And thats why the ADVENTIST CHURCH has a symbol of a cross LOL...graven images you dont get it do you

  • @THEHELENOHENZO

"the true church THEY FOLLOW NOT IGNORE"

Their is nothing called a true church...it is just a man made building, like any other man made building ...their is nothing special about it

What are special buildings are research centers...and hospitals...things that make a difference to peoples lives everyday with evidence to back it up

All churches should be turned to rubble..and research centers built on top of them

  • Actually, the ten commandments say nothing about swearing in general, only when it comes to God, so there's actually nothing wrong with saying fuck, cock, cunt, shit, motherfucker etc, at least not according to God, however, you should be very careful saying oh my god, what in gods name and jesus christ as expressions.

  • its kinda funny to see them squirm from a question like that. they can never give a straight answer its like they're embarassed to admit they believe in bronze age mythology

  • Oh, obligatory comic relief ghetto black guy, I love you... No homo... Okay, maybe a little

  • Fuck that idiot who cut off bill before he could pull that "christian" into the light.

  • Where do the commandments say you can't work on Sunday?

  • @AgApE010 in deutoronomy it says if you see your neighbour working on the 7th day you must kill him....havent got exact page...google it

  • @mickeyvegas1

7th day = Saturday. That's the Sabbath. Why do you think Jews go to synagogue Friday evening/Saturday?

Sunday = The Lord's Day. That's the Christian worship day. It doesn't have Sabbath regulations.

I'm just pointing out Maher's sub-par understanding of basic Biblical topics for those who think that they can get a good, general knowledge of Christianity just by listening to him.

  • @AgApE010 I think you're missing the point.

  • @mickeyvegas1 THOSE LAWS get kill if we disobey WAS ABOLISHED but the ten amendments wasn't READ BIBLE ignorance is the bad it can lead to eternal death - lulu.com/spotlight/helenohenzo

  • I like Bill Maher, but George Carlin's ten commandments is better. :)

  • The 7 deadly sins is a good moral example from christianity.Everyone always cites the 10 commandments, and uses those in themselves to argue that morality derived from religion is nonsense.Christ's life, whether he was real or not, is also a good moral example to cite from christianity. People are inherently savages.Doctored science has tricked people into paying tax on air. Savages use science to blow shit up and supress people. People are the problem, not any specific institution of thought.

  • @waldomademedoit

Well if we're not looking at the other 603, then the commandments do certainly not cover all acts of violence, and they barely cover lust. Not to mention that I stand by my other statement that 4 of them do not apply to modern society and are essentially worthless, the 5th is rather basic, and the other 5, specifically the ones regarding stealing, killing and false witness, have been around since Hammurabi (Predates 2000 B.C.) and are unoriginal to say the least.

  • Any more smart pricks who think Bill Maher (and thus their) opinion is bulletproof? Try reading the Bible instead of jumping on the bandwagon and shitting on it. Religion isn't stupid, just individuals who believe in it are. By saying religion is stupid and thinking you're so much better than those who have it, you're the EXACT same as those who ARE religious and say they're better than those who DON'T have it. You're no better, no worse, just the same. Enjoy.

  • @waldomademedoit

Actually, in a vague sense, if you look at all 613 commandments, they do cover identity theft.

Do not defraud anyone. (Leviticus 19:13)

Do not deal falsely with anyone. (Leviticus 19:11)

However, if we're on the topic of the other 603 commandments, there's a whole list of nasty "rules" in the bible.

Also, seeing how rape IS an act of violence, the commandments don't then cover ALL acts of violence.

  • Comment removed

  • @PurplePeopleEater4 I'm not Jewish so I don't have the 600-plus Commandments. That's Jewish territory. And besides, christians believe in the New Testament which takes precedent over the 10 of the Old Testament. Nobody's on the topic of 600 commandments except you, dude, sorry.

  • the funniest ten commandments one is anne widdecombe against christopher hitchens and stephen fry on liveleak - they've taken it off everywhere else

i just watch it to make me laugh - she's the biggest battleaxe i have ever seen - hitchens has to have a drink to even look at her lol lol lol

they did it after their debate - is the catholic church a force for good - they massacred them ...

  • George Carlin got the 10 commandments PERFECTLY summed up : watch?v=p-RGN21TSGk More people have been killed in the name of god than for any other reason (other than natural causes of course). 10 commandments are just optional and / or negotiable.

  • You cant say you follow the 10 commandments if you only follow 3... That's called hypocrisy.

  • Hey, Thou shalt not kill. You don't believe in the TEN COMMANDMENTS just publish your address to all them murderers, whatca think about that. And oh, um how about telling all the thieves where you live, After all you don't believe in Thou Shalt Not Steal...And, oh yah, how about letting all those coveters have at it with your wife, after all Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbors wife.....Hhahahahahha!!!!!

  • Okay a question for deeply religious people, because I'm honestly curious, and if you can't keep it civil then don't reply:

Do you think a homosexual couple should NOT have all the same rights as a heterosexual couple, and why? Please elaborate the reasons why without just saying because it's in the bible. thanks

  • Yeah ,that's right, you can be stoned to death for being gay, working on the Sabbath, or for cursing your parents. Oh, and if a man has sex with the wife of a married slave, the sole punishment is sacrificing a ram to the Lord. (Leviticus 19 v20-22) Hmmm, let's see. It's pretty much ok to rape or commit adultery with a slave woman, as long as you follow it up with an act of animal cruelty.--Got it!! Gee, the Bible makes so much sense now.

  • @AnonymousFail2011

If Bill Maher is a heathen, then Hitler must have been a pretty fucking swell guy.

  • @waldomademedoit

The 10 Commandments certainly do not cover rape or child abuse. Certainly do not.

    Not in the least bit.

In fact, Bill is essentially spot on in this, because only 5 of the 10 are on subjects of morality, where-as the other 4 are on silly traditions like Bill mentioned.

In fact, these appear as the first four on the list.

  • @PurplePeopleEater4 The Ten Commandments didn't cover identity theft either but you shouldn't do it -- people didn't go around abusing children then like they do now, and rape was practically legal so they didn't specifically cover them with their OWN commandments. But all acts of violence and lust are covered in the Commandments.

  • Bill Maher has one thing wrong though: rape and child abuse are both covered by the ten commandments. He's just using the "no work on Sundays" and the statue thing to make his point... He's done way better work than in this clip. ((Sorry Bill))

  • @waldomademedoit Please explain how rape and child abuse is mentioned in the ten commandments.

  • @kaduisaui Read them yourself and figure it out, if you think you can possibly form an opinion without Bill Maher. And yes, they ARE covered, I just don't like your shitty comment.

  • @waldomademedoit I simply asked how rape and child abuse is covered by the ten commandments. I even said please. Now how is that a shitty comment?

  • @kaduisaui Fair enough: In the Old Testament you have 10 Commandments. Then YEARS later in the New Testament, Jesus refined those antiquated (even by NT standards) rules and thus you have his 2. They cover it indirectly, not literally saying "Thou shalt not commit rape or child abuse" but anybody who knows that the Commandments are guidelines to a moral existence (written in a time predating what constitutes child abuse and/or our version of rape) would know rape and child abuse are wrong.

  • @kaduisaui You're picking a fight based on Bill "bulletproof opinion" Maher's video you just seen. I get it. He's so smart. But once in a while he just says things that sound good. The Bible, and most religions, I'm sure, are very against child abuse and rape -- but around 2,000 years ago nobody thought to look into the future and see how fucked in the head some people today are and include them in their rulebook.

  • @waldomademedoit You obviously do NOT read your Bible. Making false statements about the bible is very a Christian thing to do but it is very dishonest. There is nothing written about protecting children from abuse, or protecting women from rape in any versions of the ten commandments.

Furthermore, you can pretend rape and child abuse never happened 2,000 years ago so God never had to include laws against those things in his commandments but you are dead wrong.

  • @kaduisaui You got me... I'm a complete sham because you want your opinion to not be an opinion, but the utter and infallible Truth. You're no better than those people Bill argues with. Enjoy your life being king of youtube comments.

  • @kaduisaui And if you wanna be a smartass with technicalities, the 10 Commandment's *don't* cover identity theft since in I/T there is no physical property, only intellectual property, being taken and used. The Bible is full of shit because it forgot to foresee assholes stealing I/P also. Grow up and stop riding Maher's jock. He's right most of the time but this one video yeah, he's kinda wrong.

  • @waldomademedoit You make a very good point. God should have thought a bit more about things when he wrote his laws. Now, be honest, you made the claim that the ten commandments cover child abuse and rape. Which commandments are you referring to?

  • why only ten? The bible is filled with commandments should you avoid shellfish and stone to death a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath or a child who is cheeky to their parents? Cherry picking for votes by the looks of it.

  • @AnonymousFail2011

    That's a fucking lie.

  • @AnonymousFail2011 you retard

  • "Nobody ever gives you a straight answer" Sums it up.

  • I guess we'll never know what the black guy thinks.

  • There's always THAT black guy...

  • Umm Work on Sunday? Sunday is a pagan day of worship. GOD said Remember the SEVENTH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY! Who cares what "man=666" says. The 10 Commandments, that God wrote Himself are valid until the end of this sick world. Doesnt matter what all the haters perp. Obey them and live, break them and eternal hell is the reward! JESUS LOVES YOU!

  • @1978dagreat

    Oh dear.

  • @1978dagreat Obey them and live, break them and eternal hell is the reward! JESUS LOVES YOU!

If thats you're version of love I'll have no part of it thank you.

Did god say seventh day or sabbath?

  • Anybody that thinks the ten commandments are a good way to lead your life should be forced to live by them or face the consequences. They are so full of shit.

  • @thelordmemnoch Ya, most of the 10 commandments aren't even laws....

  • @thelordmemnoch half of them are but thou shall not kill and all that seem like a pretty good way to live, its just the ones that are more to do with following the religion that are bullshit. there are a lot of good points and ideas in religion once you take away all the fairytale religious crap

  • @f4eazrael No, only TWO of them are laws and only sometimes. Adultery is a law in some states so you can make it two and a half. The same thing can be said about any religion or even idea. Take out the fairytale crap and Harry Potter has a lot of good points and ideas.

  • @f4eazrael "there are a lot of good points and ideas in religion once you take away all the fairytale religious crap"

No shit! Take away Middle Earth and the orcs, and the Lord of the Rings has a lot of extremely good points and ideas

  • @f4eazrael Of course. If they didn't put in the good things, how would they sell it to people?

  • maher is great. how could anyone hate him for exposing the many cracks in christian morality. im sick of people telling me because im an athiest and dont use the bible as a moral code that im bad. the bibles morals are crap. everthing in the old testiment still aplys. you cant belive the new and not the old because it says in the new that the old still counts so to belive in the new you have to belive in the old unless your picking and choosing verses to belive which is pointless.

  • Child abuse. The 10 commandments were given as a core, a basis for his people only, not the world. There's also the book of commandments where new commandments were added from time to time (that too was in the ark of the covenant). Such an issue among the Israelites didn't happen, probably because people back then got married very young. Maybe that's why no direct mention on it. The same God though, in the NewTestament cares very much about children Mark 9:36-37,10:14-16

  • maher a self hating jew....

  • @johnsmdm and a douche!

  • The only religion more backwards than Christianity is Islam, because at least Christianity has evolved enough to know that pretending their scriptures are metaphors etc...rather than superstitious bullshit written by men who thought the Earth was flat, makes them seem more legitimate to the advanced, science believing Western culture. While Islam kill those accountable for apostisy.

Did you know? On Google, type in "is islam". The first recommendation is "evil". Not "a religion", figures.

  • Doesn't BM know that the sabbath is on the seventh day of the week, not the first day of the week? What a dumbass.

  • @vidbid1 So its ok to stone people to death for working the sabbath if we have the day correct?

  • TEERZ OF CHRIST makes fun of the ten commandments. Let's rape them.

  • @TheWisdom187 With all due respect, commandment #6 didn't say thou shall not "kill", it said thou shall not "murder". And I think the two words actually imply really separate things.

  • i'm not going to get distracted by what things actually say, what words mean, things that really have happened, and established facts. I'm just saying my religion is better, my war is better, my people are better than yours. Stop confusing the issue.

  • I believe in God and I dont push my religions on others, i feel Atheist should do the same and keep their beliefs to themselves and not try to convince ppl that there is no god, I agree overly religious ppl get annoying but its hypocritical to not be religious and be equally as annoying

  • @eagleeye2391 your pushing what you believe on people in this comment. So you not pushing your religion on people is a flat out lie.

  • @SuperMrAtheist no i am not, i am stating what i believe in not encouraging or forcing them to believe

  • isn't the sabbath a saturday? why can't you work on sunday?

  • @preytec the sabbath is not on a saturday you stupid fuck. it's the 7th day of the week.

  • @TheEpiph the biblical sabbath is from the eveing of the sixth day to the evening of the seventh day ("sunday" wasn't called that back then. However, the jewish sabbath is from friday evening to saturday evening, as the jewish week starts at sunday and ends at saturday (seventh day). So maybe you're the stupid fuck. look it up on wikipedia

  • @Duplex0r you're retarded. if you read the bible, it clearly states that the sabbath day is the day god rested, which is the seventh fucking day. there is no compromise in this at all. it's exactly on the seventh day.

  • @TheEpiph seems i overlooked the part of the bible that states that monday is the first day of the biblical week. you see , Monday, Tuesday etc. weren't invented until hundrets of years later.

    1) The Old testament is from the jewish tora 2) the jewish week begins at sunday, which makes saturday the seventh day of the week 3) That makes the sabbath (a mainly jewish tradition) take place at saturday.

Look it up at wikipedia if you don't believe me, or ask any jew you know.

  • @TheEpiph well we start the week on a sunday so i guess the 7th day is saturday right?

  • @eagleeye2391 uh no. most people start on monday.

  • @TheEpiph then why does every calendar i own says the week starts on sunday, domingo, domenica

  • @eagleeye2391 they don't exactly start on sunday you asshat.

  • @TheEpiph never did i insulted you did i? show respect to get respect sir

  • @eagleeye2391 i'm not insulting you, i'm simply calling you an asshat, which is what you are.

  • @TheEpiph you fucking twat, READ the fucking bible you fuck wit before you post your crap online. asswipe.

  • @preytec nowhere in the bible does it say that the sabbath is on a sunday. do some research before you try to prove me wrong, kid.

  • lol " u motherfucker need to calm down"

  • LOL, D.L.

  • @FreboyDT I have been proven guilty, in he long distant past, of coveting my (female) neighbour's ass lol! Can I still go to heaven? I believe in never breaking the 11th commandment!

  • seems bill maher cares more about the 10 commandments than the other guy.im not religous either but damn maher...let it go.

  • @Pat9201 He makes a completely valid point, and the guy didn't address it. The point is this - is this the best list of rules an omniscient and all-good God could come up with? And considering that (assuming they all believe) it forms a basic plant in Abrahamic (or Noahide, or Mosaic) morality, that means over 3 billion people, almost four - more than 1/2 the world - thinks this is the best we can do in ethics/morality.

  • I was liking it until the other guy interrupted them.

  • @paferdown1 bill maher is hardly a spokesman for lack of belief...if you want to see a "legitimate christian" get demolished in a debate then type in the search bar : Christopher Hitchens debate

  • @paferdown1 Let's hear some of these responses then...go ahead answer away.

  • These niggas need to hit sum of dat weed. Calm yo ass down.

  • Bill Maher says Christian's like myself are crazy because we believe in The Bible and a talking snake but can't you make the case the he himself is crazy for believing that Earth was created by random events and that we are just all random chemical bonds that just so happened to end up on a planet with perfect living conditions. Can he beyond a shadow of doubt a 100% no gimmicks prove that God is not real.

  • @jthemano10 "Can he beyond a shadow of doubt a 100% no gimmicks prove that God is not real."

That which can be asserted without proof (e.g. god is real), can be just as easily dismissed without proof.

"can't you make the case the he himself is crazy for believing that Earth was created by random events and that we are just all random chemical bonds that just so happened to end up on a planet with perfect living conditions."

Not crazy, proven. See Charles Darwin. You just can't imagine it.

  • @JackWigal How is it proven though he wasn't around when the Earth was created

  • @jthemano10 As I said, the burden of proof is on you. Are you seriously asking me to disprove a negative? You are asserting that there is a god and that he was around when earth was created. O.K. Prove it. It's not up to me to disprove it. You have proposed a hypothesis. Now you must present evidence to support that hypothesis.

That which can be asserted without proof (e.g. there is a god and he was around when the earth was created) can just as easily be dismissed without proof.

  • @JackWigal I can prove God is real in my case I was at a youth camp and a man prayed for me and at that second I felt a great heat and force almost knock me down it is an unexplainable feeling....but just because that happened to me it won't prove that God is real to you...you just have to experience Him for yourself

  • @jthemano10 @jthemano10 So since this feeling of "great heat and force" is "unexplainable" (to you), you automatically blamed it on God? Is that proof "in your case"? Is that the way science works for you: "I can't explain it so I'm just going to give up and blame it on God."?

What do you do when you get sick? Do you see a doctor or do you just blame it on God? Do you take medicine the doctor gives you or do you stick to your faith and pray God makes you well?

    This is very interesting.

  • @JackWigal Every time I feel uneasy or sick I pray and when necessary I consume medication....and science can not explain what I felt it was a great feeling and it really is unexplainable....Also I believe in God what you or any one else says will not change that, I respect whatever you believe in and will not disrespect you for it and I hope for the best for you

  • @jthemano10 That's right, you believe in God no matter what I or anyone else says. Therein lies the problem. The difference between science and religion is scientists know exactly what it would take to change their minds about their hypothesis and theories (a rabbit fossil in the pre-cambrian strata, for example), whereas religious people won't change their minds no matter what.

That is the definition of delusion--a persistent belief in the face of overwhelming evidence or lack thereof.

  • @JackWigal Ok cool

  • @jthemano10 Ahh, the ol' "I'm going to give up and bury my head back in the sand routine."

"La la la la la la laaaa. I can't hear you! I can't hear you! La la la la la la laaa!"

  • @JackWigal Autobot's assemble

  • George Carlin describes the irrelevance of the Ten Commandments perfectly.......As does Christopher Hitchens.....

  • To play the Republican's advocate: Probably the reason the 10 commandments don't mention child abuse and rape is the same reason why the Bill of Rights doesn't mention anything about airport strip searches, government eavesdropping, water-boarding, and other inconsistencies with liberty in the name of safety. i.e. it just wasn't an issue at the time. The 10 commandments need a couple of amendments, that's all, just like the Bill of Rights, if the conservatives have their way...

  • @eggiex1

Just to play logical debate's advocate,

But we're talking about god's supposedly immutable laws. Not some made-man rules.

We're talking about laws that are supposed to be forever followed throughout the centuries, written by an all powerful, all knowing being. If he was all knowing, perhaps he should have considered women and children are humans too and require more protection? Or did women and children not exist back in bibical times, so laws for them were unnecessary?

  • @shardakar Well, I remember we had a discussion back in College in a class called Philosophical Analysis, where one of the major topics for the course was the debate of the existence of God, and one question was whether or not God knows the future. There is a school of thought that believes God does not know the future (even though he's all-knowing, I guess the future is not a sub-set of that) and in that case, maybe he didn't expect the people he created to turn out so cruel? I don't know...

  • @eggiex1 So... is Time a problem for... God? Just asking.

  • @demokritosabdera and that's what we need, a no-nonsense policy. Once that was implemented, about 98% of politicians would be burnt alive with religious literature for kindle.

  • @crhs33 A non-believer once pointed out to me that the word 'g-d' spelled backward means something else. And coincidentally, the name of G-d, when spelled backwards in some other religions also carries other meanings. I saw other believers blanking out the middle vowel over the internet so I thought it's an appropriate thing to do. That's it. No other intention.

  • Comment removed

  • (cont...)

    (3) Swearing: In the context of the Ten Commandments, it's 'do not misuse the name of your G-d', meaning don't swear using G-d's name. I wouldn't like it either if you swear with my name. G-d's name must be revered and feared more so.

    (End)

  • (cont...)

    (2) Statues of deity: If we produce them we tend to be drawn to them and what they represent. Eventually we will start to bet our hope on them and not the true G-d. If you don't trust me, try to make a sculpture of your favourite thing for yourself. (You don't need to be a great sculptor). You will notice that you do 'love' this work of your hand. (cont...)

  • Can viewers see that G-d doesn't need any commandment? The Ten have been given to mankind for our own benefits. Sometimes we feel some aspects of the laws are ridiculous because we don't understand the intricate details of the enforcement and background that are lost in the history.

    (1) Sabbath: G-d says to keep the Sabbath holy. This is to give us rest physically so that we can deepen spiritually. (cont...)

  • @heidilow77 i'm sorry to bust your bubble, but some people in the world dont believe in your particular nonsense as you dont believe in their particular nonsense.

As for me, i dont believe in any kind of nonsense.

  • @DemokritosAbdera You wanna sex sometime?

  • @DemokritosAbdera Yes, you do.

  • There is nothing in the commandments about forbidding slavery

  • They say 'love thy neighbor as thyself,' what am i supposed to do jerk him off too?

  • @Jedi862001 lol well done, sir.

  • i want to see more of this episode. is it uploaded anywhere?

  • who is this bald guy?

  • I love how religious fools talk about the 10 commandments and when you ask them questions like this they always choke on their words, because they understand that what they just said is fucking stupid!

  • I agree with a few of Mahers points of view but more and more I'm seeing him for the bigot he truly is. I am not a christian but to just try and humiliate the man like that is on a show to promote his point of view really is an ass hole thing to do.

  • @LightningBoltz he's just asking questions

  • @LightningBoltz Yeah I think Maher can reach almost O'Reilly levels of anger sometimes but it's usually focussed on certain political things rather than religious things, he is just demanding an answer which this guy's avoiding and as a person in a position in politics his religious fervour should either be explained logically or left out of the job completely.

  • @TyrannosaurusBizz I agree with religion being left out of politics completely.

  • @LightningBoltz No he is not that kind of person. He is not trying to humiliate but is wrestling hard with G-d's way. He is like many well wishers who believe that the world could be better and sometimes they feel they see a better way. The problem with 'good' people's way is that not all human beings, who enjoy the same human-ship, act nobly. It's good to be not-so-smart because we can always see that G-d's way is the best way.

  • @heidilow77 Isn't that the problem though? Everybody always thinks, "IF everybody believes the way I do, the world would be perfect". This attitude can be seen extended to our foreign policy as a nation. I believe the world would be a much better place without religion and enjoyed Maher's documentary on said subject. However, this interview was a little too aggressive for my taste. In the end, us atheists/agnostics could be wrong. The fact is, not one person on this planet knows.

  • Okay, I think people are a little confused. For one thing, there were a lot more commandments/rules than just the ten in the Bible that JEWISH people (which includes Moses) were supposed to follow, there were several hundred. When Jesus came he said the Old Law was done away with and that He was now the Way. I don't think that means that the ten commandments aren't good, since it is hard to try and live like Jesus and break the Ten, but maybe not as central as our culture makes us believe.

  • i don t know where child abuse would fall under, but rape/sexual crimes can be covered by the sixth commandment (you shall not commit adultury). just saying.

  • @yaymeIamanut rape and sexual crimes do not fall under the 6th commandment so long as neither people are married.

  • @Quinny977 Actually, it does. People need to read a catechism or something instead of the Bible before making claims about what a religion believes. (i'm talking about Catholicism)

  • @yaymeIamanut Actually it doesn't.

"Adultery: voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and someone other than his or her lawful spouse."

You can interpret that definition however you want, but I think its pretty straight forward.

To bad the bible didn't come with a glossary, you'd think god would have thought that out considering hes omnipotent.

  • -_- I'm not talking about the Bible,i'm talking about the cathechism. The Bible should be with a grain of salt, anyway.(It was written hundreds/thousands of years ago,in another language(it's been translated and edited numerous times(you can't tell me that a mistake/translation error or two wasn't made SOMEWHERE),people/the times were very different back then, and it was written in FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE.)I am a Catholic,I'm studying this right now, believe me,it's covered in there.

  • @yaymeIamanut I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school for eight years. So don't tell me about "cathechism", better know as catholicism.

My point is that the ten commandments are flawed and not very well thought out when attempting to lay down the law for all of man kind over the course of the existence of the universe...

Clearly not Omnipotent, which the bible would have you believe.

I will say though, catholicism has to be one of the least ridiculous Christian religions.

  • @hempheadfor20 yes, same here. you do have a good point, but they can be applied to anything. i was always taught that they were flexible in that way.

  • I will answer it.

I can't work on Sunday? I try not to.

    I can't swear? I try not to.

I can't make idols? I try not to.

Are the 10 commandments more important than rape and child abuse? All sin is bad. How about we just stick to the two greatest commandments and see where rape and child abuse fall. Love the Lord with all your heart and love your naighbor as yourself. If I do these two, then yes rape and child abuse are covered because if I love others I wouldn't do evil toward them. NEXT!

  • @TheGrayman1234

    "Love your neighbor as yourself"

What if you have a "getting ass raped fetish" ?

  • @hempheadfor20 If I love my neighbor as myself then it is not what I want out of the relationship (whether that is a friendship or a intimate relationship), it is what they want. If they don't like that, I would not do that. Not to mention it is perverse and I would seek help in changing that tendency.

  • @TheGrayman1234

What if your neighbor has a "getting ass raped fetish"?

Would you still treat your neighbor as yourself and give them what they so desire?

Or lets say you both have a "getting ass raped fetish". I guess then there wouldn't be an issue...accept maybe who would go first...

Oh gee, how to resolve this one? Who goes first?

I suppose if you both love your neighbor as yourself then neither could go first.

Unless of course one of you has an "ass raping fetish".

  • @hempheadfor20 It is funny that I say "love your neighbor" and your mind immediately goes to a sexual act. Shows the condition of your heart.

Since I find the act as perverse I would not be in a relationship where they would ask that of me. I have more respect for myself than to allow abuse of my body. Loving my neighbor does not mean I let them abuse me.

  • @TheGrayman1234

"It is funny that I say "love your neighbor" and your mind immediately goes to a sexual act."

I'm simply trying to point out that "love your neighbor as yourself" is not a "cure all" and that there are flaws in such logic.

I could use any number of hypothetical scenario's. I just figured a perverse sexual act would get your panties in a bunch.

    :)

  • @hempheadfor20 Thanks for speaking the truth & say that you picked the sexual reference just to rile me up.

  • @hempheadfor20 Sure it is. Of course it is in how you apply it."Love your neighbor as yourself" You see just because I am not self destructive because I love myself does not mean I condone the extreme of letting myself do anything I want. I practice self discipline. Even if I like your car I won't steal it. So it should be ok to expect you to discipline yourself and not steal my stuff. Not putting any requirement on u that I do not put on myself.

  • @smokediverxxx so......point out where god says rape is bad....

  • When Bill dies, he's gonna be best friends with George Carlin...

    R.I.P. George

  • @smokediverxxx NOT doing those things. Listen before you comment.

No statues of other Gods = "you shall have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:3)

No Working on Sunday ="But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work" (Exodus 20:10)

No swearing = "you shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God" (Exodus 20:7)

  • @natdogrocker actually the reference to statues of other gods is referring to "thou shalt not make graven images"

    :)

  • @narco73 same difference it all comes from the same fantasy novel

  • The Ten Commandments? You mean the ones about boiling goats in their mothers' milk, the "feast of weeks," and sacrificing your first-born child?
