Constantine "Cus" D'Amato was tysons trainer, he discovered tyson in a juvenile delinquent center when tyson was 13, he brought tyson into his home, gave him a place to sleep and trained him to be a fighter, took him off the streets and away from the city and the criminal life. and for those who keep saying it, tyson didnt go down hill after cus died, he won the title, unified the belts for the first time in almost 20 years, he crashed after his wife divorced him

great boxer ! pity the leaches took their toll and ruined him a bit ! but he still has greatness about him. boxing has sadly lost its edge, the real fighting takes place MMA these days ! I'm not a boxer or a MMA fighter but have studied Okinawa go ju ryu karate for 14 years but was brought up in a huge boxing family having uncles who fought and refereed professionally in England in the 30;s 40's and 50's , those glory days for boxing are sadly gone !

If only Cus d'amato lived on, Mike would have not been the animal, he would have gone on to be the Greatest Ever fighter in history, surpassing Ali. He needed Cus to keep him on a leash and be a father figure to him....once Cus died...the animal was without a leash and he unleashed.....he was just heading like a train with with no driver.....women prayed on his weakness, friends leeched of him.....and everyone destroyed him...Amen!

Constantine "Cus" D'Amato was tysons trainer, he discovered tyson in a juvenile delinquent center when tyson was 13, he brought tyson into his home, gave him a place to sleep and trained him to be a fighter, took him off the streets and away from the city and the criminal life. and for those who keep saying it, tyson didnt go down hill after cus died, he won the title, unified the belts for the first time in almost 20 years, he crashed after his wife divorced him

@vikrama72 He never beat anyone great except an old larry holmes and he lost to douglas before his jailtime and he would have lost from foreman and ali even in prime because foreman was the strongest fighter and ali the best allround foghter. Tyson was the most agressive explosive fighter but certainly not the best ever!

@1978utreg Everyone talks like they know about boxing, I spent 20years in martial arts to know that his punch can kill, his punch was more powerful than George Foreman and Joe Frazier, who trained punching buffalo meat till it got tenderized. These guys have the power in their punch to knock a full grown bull to death, if punched in the center between the horns. Tyson, was a speed and power puncher which is why he can knock down men in 1 round. ONLY WITH TYSON WE SAW SUCH FIGHTS INCREASE!

@vikrama72 Foreman ko'd bigger men then tyson and his ko% was also higher. He even ko'd people in his 40's while mike only got ko'd in the final stages of his career ;-) Foreman had more ko's then tyson had boxingmatches so i think its save to say that foreman is the king of ko

@1978utreg Foreman had a good decent controlled life, he had his problems, but it did not impede him from performing, he has a long career, while tyson's was like a lightning he came made his impact and suddenly dissipated.....he himself admitted.....he was done in by many people and HE LET PEOPLE SCREW HIM.....so he lost focus and messed up........I BET MANY OF THE MORONS HERE DINT KNOW SUCH THING AS A "UNDISPUTED CHAMPION" EXISTED....UNTIL TYSON...! Many asked me why say "UNDISPUTED??"

@vikrama72 he never won from a great prime fighter! Ali has beaten liston, foreman, frazier, norton even after a break of a couple of years! Tyson never won a superfight and his style was wrong for a type like foreman or ali. Ali prime was to fast en foreman would crush him like he did against all the others who wanted to brawl with him ;-)

@403766 No that is not the point, he took him and and made him who he was, he was an animal before that point.....he was on a leash.....while cus was around....then he died.....Leaving Tyson with the necessary skills and MOMENTUM.....so he was moving in the right position towards being the youngest Champion...then....came success...noise....leeches...women...DON KING!

well Mr. D'amato tought mike tyson well known for his juvinile childhood and anger upon others fighting in the street and boxing in the ring sugar understood the anatomy of the body and know what is took to take a man down over sugars career hes been in approx. 200 fights he has won half or more on ko which is which is about 100 percent over mike and mike relied on his reflexes to fight while sugar worked his jab the whole round sugar was indeed a boxer he thot more on easing then power punch

So what happened when Cus took him in, he put it into a system, REMEMBER, Tyson had few major flaws, his reach and his height. He did not have the weight as well, you need weight to add inertia to any punch.
SO WHEN ANYBODY SAYS THAT TYSON is purely a Fighter, you are trying to say Cus' knew SHIT....u r wrong. here is the system
1) Base training 2. Hip movement 3.punch rotation 4.weight training

@vikrama72 i not saying Cus' didnt know shit he knew everything there is to know about boxing and mike is a great boxer i can always admit that hes my inspiration that got in into the amateur leagues matter of fact i try to imitate the style of mike he is a great fighter with the greatest reflexes speed and power ive ever seen he just never understood the most important concept of a body shot even tho hes great and his counters and head movement he just doesnt work the body as much as he should

It is always important that the key areas are covered to be a good Boxer cum fighter or any martial arts exponent. 1) Good balance 2) right stance 3) hip movement 4)power deliverance at the point of contact 5) anticipation
He had all this, you contradict yourself by saying he dint hv body work, he is a boxer, end
