It might as well have ended that way seeing as how Data's sacrifice, B4 and Picard having a clone were all completely without dramatic purpose whatsoever.
Generally, the ship's Captain remains responsible for the ship, even if not aboard.
But hey, this is the same guy who was part of the Borg and only had 2 weeks off before being given back his command. They must have the best psychiatric staff ever!
My question is, if you can move up to be a Bridge Officer by taking a test, why hasn't Data received his own ship? Certainly he could pass every test.
@Soyuz59 In a follow-up comic novel written as a prequel to the Star Trek reboot, it was established that B-4 had eventually fully integrated Data's memories (transferred during this movie) into his systems after Geordi installed Data's emotion chip into him, and as such essentially became another Data. He ended up becoming the captain of the Enterprise-E
@Vlorsutes So what happened to B4? If he was just an irrelevant blank slate, then that reduces Data from being a person to a simply a sophisticated computer program.
I never could figure out, why wait to set the self destruct AFTER the Scimitar pulls away? Thereby the Enterprise would take the Scimitar with it with less chance of the ship escaping.
Makes absolutely no sense... What was that clip of an explosion, anyway? Definitely not a starship. It looked more like a small supernova, or maybe Praxis (kidding about the moon).
If this is really how it ended, with Picard and the Enterprisse being destroyed, then Shinzon would have used his Thaderon weapon on Earth. COngradulations whoever made this, you killed the Federation
Thanks for telling me. I heard that some time later. Anyway, the Scimitar meant cemetary for most enemy ships! Listen to the respectful tone in which Worf analyzes the weapon power of that space beast!
lol same i dont get it , but i watched the film. What actually happen was that the star trek sheld had a big whole and sucked some of their crew out and they used they force field power to cover up the whole after they reversed out from each other

The problem with Picard...When the ship has a dent in it the only solution is to blow the trillion dollar thing up :)

@jonesphillip25 Except that one time when it was over-run by the borg and the line had to be drawn HYAR.

At least they could give Data a backup disk...

@Vlorsutes Why didn't they just press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL and reboot him?
After all, the Enterprise is primitive, it was still running a UNIX OS and 32-bit processors...

I think when he got back to Earth, Picard would be in a lot of trouble.
Under his command, one ship augered in on Verdian II and he had a head-end crash with another!
Think of what Starfleet's insurance would be!

@Soyuz59 Sweet fuck all considering there's no money in the Federation.

@Soyuz59 Not to mention Riker was in command when the Enterprise D went down over Veridian 3.

My first rule of negotiations:Fire at will then after they don't have a ship any more
then we talk.

Picard just cant get behind the wheel of a starship without tripping the goddamn auto destruct. Thats his solution for everything!

Why did picard blow his own ship up? He couldn't face the embarrassment of crashing into the romulan leader's flagship?
CaptainPositron 3 years ago
romulan? the enemy was reman not romulan the romulans aided enterprise.
DDG62 2 years ago
But Shinzon was the new Praetor. And since the Scimitar was his ship, you could say it was his flagship.

No, that's a starship.
It's from Nemesis, when the Scimitar blows up.

Really? I totally didn't recognize it. Strange. I watched the movie at least twice.

porpus99 3 years ago
I don't think so. After the crash the Scimitar would have gone nowhere and be blown up by Starfleet and/or Romulans anyway.
The first time I heard the ship's name I thought it would be spelled cemetar, like cemetary!
mszs 2 years ago
The Scimitar is named after a kind of sword called a scimitar
