  • I just got a 2600maH...lasts 3 to 4 days, but the door is very noticeable. I'm currently looking for an Otterbox or something to protect it.

  • I can't get the stock door to fit.. Wish I saw this video before I got the extended battery.. Oh well, got to buy the door..

    Good video dude..

  • You may need to re calibrate your battery to show accurate charging level.

  • There is many different extended battery

most 1840mAh will fit and use the original cove

the 2200mah,2300mAh will need the extended cover

If the difference in thickness is just 1 or 2mm you can use the original cover.

  • Omg thank you for this the battery sucks that you get

  • Using the original door with the ext. battery puts pressure on the screen. Which you don't want to do.

  • There's no damage to the legs but there is to your screen lol.

  • Hey thanks for the video! What did you end up doing with your old battery? I am considering purchasing the BH6X extended battery, and then an external battery charger for my original BH5X battery as a spare...

  • i like the slight raise. it gives the phone a tough look like the incredible.

  • Its to late for him dont do that ...listen to the warning

  • The regular door on the extended battery will mess up screen ...it looks like its going to be okay but its not it will give u a rainbow color screen..dumb

  • where did/ can you buy one other than the verizon store

  • @falconfan1017 buy it from Longlast Battery, their battery is cheaper and its 2300 mAh! Its a beast!

  • It actually makes a pressure mark on the screen I got mine from ebay and he didn't tell me that I got a extended battery and I had a standard door and I never knew how to lock the door right so I went to verizon to get a case and screen protector and he locked the door right and I thought the mark was from him pushing on the the screen for the screen protector -__- I was so mad after my new phone came that I figured out it was the door on the back

  • I have a prodicell extended battery that is 1800mah. It fits perfectly without any issues with fitting in. I guess it is thinner than the bh6x. Anyway, my issue is that when i charged it, the indicator would show depleted into the red but i'd still be able to use fine. I mean i can use it but the red led would be flashing, anyone encountered this problem?

  • @vanvanbluz if you are rooted you need to do a battery stat wipe

  • @Kickenwing13 what application should i use?

  • Comment removed

  • If you use the battery door that came with the phone for the extended battery then you will have LCD problems. Happened to me and a lot of other people.

  • Why didn't they just design the phone with that battery? Douchebags.

  • @ttk1opc because they know battery life on most smart phones is poor so why not take the chance to sell more stuff to consumers in America.

  • Where can I get the extended battery? And I hav a silicone case would the new back door affect the case?

  • if u didnt need the bigger cover, they wouldnt make one...

  • can i have the extra battery and battery cover and if i cant do u know the battery number? please respond A.S.A.P.

  • at least motorola got smarter and didnt make the extended battery twice as big. the phone doesnt look all that different with the extended case which is a good thing

  • dude my battery is like 1930mah wth did they have an upgrade

  • The extended battery is $50. I bought it with the Otterbox Defender, which is also $50 at a Verizon store. I bought them both, when I bought my Droid X 2 weeks ago, and got 20% off. So with the 20% off they came to $40 each before tax.

The Defender will fit with the extended battery. I haven't used the stock battery yet.

  • @daddyd302 do you think the otterbox commuter case would fit with the extended battery? and have you had any LCD problems at all?

  • @MCPoidog I currently have the commuter. The defender was too thick. I'm using the extended door and it fits fine, no lcd issues or any other issues.

  • @MCPoidog oh good! i'll have to get the extended battery then! Thanks man!

  • My x lasts 2.5 days without extended battery

  • @AwwC00L because you use it like a pussy

  • CAN I GO TO A VERIZION RETAIL STORE AND GET THIS. HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST FOR DROID X AND DROID 2?

  • so then if you use the regular door(as you show) you should be able to use it with most cases then correct? as it shouldn't change the shape or thickness at all?

  • Will the otterbox defender case still fit this with the extended door?

  • For the laypersons reading this, the reason you need the extra door is not just for the room for the battery, but also for the battery swell. Rechargeable batteries swell while charging because of the heat produced in the battery chemistry, and this room is needed to allow that swell to occur.

  • Verizon online store says the BH6X is 1930 mAh.

  • I want to point out that I tried this and can confirm it does cause a small "rainbow effect" when tapping the middle of the screen even gently. I took the stock back and very slightly bent it outwards to relieve pressure and the problem went away.

  • you think i could order the battery and cover from Verizon online and just have it added to my next phone bill?

  • Love the extended life battery and I use the new back door instead of risking damage to the phone. By having this battery, you can keep the original one that came with the phone as a backup unit.

  • thanks man

  • have you had any problems with the LCD so far? i know its been a while since you posted this and i was looking into buying the extended battery but dont really want to use the extended door

  • @moki4

Almost half a year, and no LCD problems. Use at your own risk, however.

  • @meltedxice why use at your own risk, i was going to buy this but would there be potential problems?

  • Batteries physically expand over time. It will most likely damage your phone over time using the standard battery door. I do not recommend using it.

  • Have you found a case that fits the ext. battery cover and door?

  • @badderthanyou

Sorry, I don't use cases, but I know most cases can deal with a 1mm rise in the back. Just make sure.

  • You can use the standard door but it DOES create a rainbow effect or a slight discoloration in the LCD. It won't do immediate damage(I had it on for several weeks) but your LCD is at some level of risk unless you use the extended cover.

  • The space on the extended cover is to relieve pressure and give a slight amount of airspace.

  • where can i get one and how much?

  • @beacon003

Check Verizon retail stores or the Verizon online store.

  • I heard that putting the stock battery door on the extended battery makes weird marks on the screen ("wet marks") and could possibly damage the screen.

  • so is the extended batt better and by how much?

  • @sjpc33 I had the same question. But logically, it should last 1.2x longer. That probably means an extra 20 mins intensive web browsing, an extra hour talk time, or a few extra hours of standby.

  • where can I get one

  • Hello,

I have Droid 2 and will update to a Droid Global and I want to know if I can get an extended battery that will not make the phone thicker as I have a hoster clip for hte Droid 2. Yes, does the Global has the same size as the Droid 2 so I can use the same holster clip?

    Tx

  • I hate the hump on the Droid X, even though I love and need slide out keyboards on my phone (I have a Droid) I would get the X if it was flat.

  • @Get2daKraken As an owner of the Droid X i can say the hump actually helps in holding the phone. Also helps when laying down flat, preventing the accelerometer from making the phone go into landscape mode.

  • @spyhawk00 Yeah I've heard that it was put there for that reason, but still, It's just not appealing to me

  • curious..........will the extended battery and extended cover that comes with it. will it still fit in the defender series otterbox? if so, im definitely getting it.

  • Don't use regular battery door for your extended battery... You'll eventually will have problems with your LCD screen because of the thickness of the battery pushes the screen close to the gorilla glass. Gorilla glass do flex a bit so it will produce LCD ripples while you use the screen.

There is a reason why Motorola provided a different latch door so use it...

I personally have experienced this problem with my Droid X and I am using the extended battery latch and no problems now. :]

  • Comment removed

  • @NewYork2009. thanks! i think im going try out the seidio extended battery which is the same size physically as tbe oem one. i don't trust that squeezing the moto extended one into the phone with ghe original back isnt messing my phone up and i dont want to use a different back and change the shape of my phone. even if it is just a hair different.

  • how much is it?

  • So a 4 minute video to tell us we can use the stock battery cover with an extended battery. Got it, thanks.

  • where did you buy this battery? from verizon or a third party?

  • I used a charging dock to charge my X at home and at the office. Do you know if the extended battery cover stops it from fitting into the dock?

  • @monchy11

I use the dock too and it doesn't prevent it from fitting.

  • @monchy11 I actually kept the original cover on it works fine.

  • @monchy11 should be ok

  • i got this and i dont really feel like im getting that extended battery life. idk maybe its just me. i mean i use it alot but not like extreme. and i feel like the juice decreases too fast still. i have it on max battery saver mode. i have the display to the lowest it will go and still.... hella annoying !

  • another review of the battery said using the old door messed up the screen because of the pressure. did it happen to u

  • @Malik8795

Nope, it didn't. see my reply to suv1186

  • Very good review.

  • the thick door doesnt bother me cuz i have a clear cover.

    wait

if i have a plastic hard cover, cna i stil use it with this battery door?

  • they probably want you to use the proper back plate so the battery has room to breathe to help keep it cool

  • sup sup your hot.

  • Hi Jesse, thanks for doing a great review! Where did you purchase the extended battery?

  • i thought it's 1930maH?

  • @bitkahuna

The box for the battery says 1930 but the battery is actually 1840mAh.

  • @meltedxice 1930maH is most likely the max it will ever hold 1840 is the minimum.

  • That is Great! Thanks for the Vid! Gonna get me an extended battery for sure.

  • Droid X : LCD problem original cover with extended battery

  • @bboymowgli

    Yes, it will.

  • @meltedxice Will it work with the car cradle as well? Verizon staff says no.

  • @meltedxice Will it work with the Car Cradle as well? Store staff says no.

  • @polishcrab

I am pretty sure it does since the car dock is adjustable. According to some forums, there is a plastic piece that you can take out to make more room. The bulge is hardly noticeable and the bulge works with the dock so it should be fine, but YMMV.

  • Hi ! Thank you for your video. I just bought the "Droid 2" extended battery because it is also for my "Motorola Droid". Anyway, though you advise it was ok, I am not a fan of tightly squeezing in the cover battery door. So thank goodness I have a plastic cover for my Droid (bling'd up with swarovski crystals hehe) so I end up not using ANY door at all. Just pop in the extended battery, no battery cover, and put Droid cell plastic on, done. Anyway, just thought I run this by you or the viewers.

  • @DJCiaoBella

Thanks for the comment! I'll bump this so more people can see this.

  • Thanks. Very informative

  • Will the extended batt work with the leather hard has from verizon? any help would be appreciated..thanx

  • Thank you for all you do! This is perfect! I have my cover bling'd up and would hate to pop in & out the door with buying another regular original battery . So now knowing the original door fits perfect to extended battery, it is PERFECT! I'm going to goto eBay to buy one. They average about $50-80. Did you have a site that you would recommend to buy this extended battery? Thank you!!!

  • does the extended door work with the flexable type casses

  • I am here to report that I have been using it for a week and I have NO RAINBOW effects. I doubt this has anything to do with it. The cover doesnt really PUSH the battery in.. it just covers it. Theres to pressure when i remove the battery and reinstall using the same stock battery cover.

  • At 2:42 someone opens your door and it sounds like a girl is being killed in the backround lol

  • lmao why spend $30-$40 on an extended battery? i have this phone rooted and underclocked for when the screen is off and my battery is probably tripled....if your awful with technology tho...buy the battery :p

  • tats awesome i didnt know u can use the regular battery door.

  • I want a battery that's twice the capacity of the original. I really wouldn't mind at all if it stuck out as far as the camera. Anyone know where I can get something like that?

  • @ericdlaspe

Seidio has a 2800mAh extended battery for the Droid X which is still under development.

  • @meltedxice , Knock about 30% off that and you'll have a realistic number for a Seidio battery. Sad, but definitely has been the case with those guys...

  • Where did you find the Ext. Battery? Idk where to buy it.

  • @kyleskid

I bought it from the official verizonwireless store.

  • So how much longer does the battery life last in terms of hours? Is it 2 hours more or somethin like that?

  • @pyrodevil

I would say 2-3 more hours.

  • I love the extended battery, Ive been running my Droid X with auto brightness, streaming music, playing videos etc. I wouldnt even dream of doing the things Ive been doing with the stock battery. I searched high & low for my extended battery and finally found it at a VZW store. I can go all day long & more without worrying that my phone would die on me. All Droid X users should get this battery, its the BEST..

  • just a heads up for everyone.....i was reading about this battery on the android forums and everyone there says not to use the stock battery cover as it causes a little too much pressure on the phone and could possibly damage your LCD screen. some people were saying they saw a "rainbow effect" on their LCD when they used the stock one with the extended battery. Sooooo, just a heads up for everyone, don't use the stock one. Use the new one that comes with the new battery.

  • @suv1186 well why would you do that anyway? obviously it comes with a new battery cover so i dont see why some one would be so dumb that to use the old one

  • That is my point as well Xmetl they made the second cover for a reason people.

  • @suv1186 thank you so much for the heads up man i was going to try and use the stock battery cover but not anymore not worth the chance of damage

  • @suv1186

Hey, that is a good point that I should have made. There are risks involved when you use something the way it is not designed for. Thanks to your comment, I will post a disclosure/warning in the description to make sure people know the risks.

That being said, I have used the original battery door since I made this video ~3 weeks ago. I can strongly say that I do not have any "rainbow effects" on my screen, and it does not affect the touch sensitivity nor the display in any way. YMMV.

  • @meltedxice yea that happened to mine, it didn't damage it but it made a little rainbow oval when i used the stock cover, but also my BH6X battery from verizon is 1930mah not 1840, i just thought that was weird

  • @suv1186 you are so right. I have a good friend that is a big time tech guy. He said the same thing. Also , heat comes into play as well. Bottom line is , if the stock cover works with the extended battery then why do they send you an extended cover to use? I use the battery the way that they recommend me to use it. I have had my Driod X a few weeks and I haven't run into a problem with the battery. Of course I don't use it 8 hours a day either.

  • @suv1186you are right suv .... yes it can crack it or make a "oil slick mark on the screen DO NOT USE THE STOCK DOOR PEOPLE

  • @suv1186

This is really a no shit Sherlock moment, there is a reason it comes with its own battery cover people. If you're dumb enough to force on the old cover when it obviously doesn't fit then you deserve a broken screen.

  • Great review, thanks!

  • you might have to worry about overheating when its too snug in there... if you are using it heavily

  • the cover in the back of the phone uses can use both batterys

  • @zephan1000 what?

  • Does the standard battery door bow outwards at all from the increased battery size?

  • @dabomb224

    It doesn't look it does.

  • how much was this?

  • @b3dw4rd

I got it for about 38$ because of a 25% discount off original price - 50$.

  • @meltedxice - how did you get the 25% discount on this battery?

  • As of Monday, August 23, I can not find this battery anywhere on the Internet. It is not found on Motorola web site, nor is it on the Verizon Wireless website. I only found a few links on eBay, but how can eBay have it if Verizon and Motorola don't? Can someone please post a link where you obtained this item?

  • @ASmithers99

It is currently sold out on the verizonwireless store, it should restock soon.

  • Thanks for posting the video on the extended battery, Im going to try and pick one up asap.

  • I saw someone say something about messing up the screen does it press harder from the back through the front that is hurting the screen when you use the reg door and extended battery or is it all good, also is there any other batteries that are larger than the 1840 or is that the highest one as of now?

  • @S13VINGskyler

I was curious about that ever since @mgninja mentioned it, seems like different people have different experiences. As for mine, I don't have any discoloration on my screen using the original battery door but I heard one person complain about the battery door causing pressure on the screen in the forums.

  • Just purchased the extended battery from Verizon. The box states 1930 mAH, not 1840 like you said and it claims 3 hours more for battery life. Does this sound reasonable after you tested it?

  • @Fzlrahm

That's interesting - I wasn't aware of a 1930mAh battery, do you have a link to the product?

Anyways, for my 1840mAh battery I would say 3-4 more hours sounds about right.

  • there is a problem with the oem door, extended battery combo the lcd screen.

apply a little pressure like normal use and you will get that rainbow effect i cant see that being ok for the longevity of the screen...

  • @mgninja

Are you saying that happened on your own phone? I have no problems whatsoever on mine.

  • @meltedxice , im sure it dose its not just mine, put the oem door on with the extended battery, turn the screen on and grip the phone so that you have too thumbs on the screen edges give a little press you see it, contact vzw rep and ask the reason for the ex door since the oem door fits with the battery and i was givin that exact reason , lcd issue i was told, since the phone is so thin the lcd panel sits real close to the battery and excessive pressure will cause it too discolor...

  • @mgninja

    Bump.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol i ment thicker lol just saw it hahahaha im high sorry

  • Lol you guys are saying thanks but that 1mm thinker battery comes with a different battery cover for a reason if you put the old one on the thicker one your pushing on the screen so lil by lil ur messin up the screen but hey its ur droid x

  • DOES THE EXTENDED BATTERY MAKE IT HARDER TO FIT INTO A HARD COVER CASE?

  • @SelfRighteous919

If you use the battery cover that comes with the extended battery, then you have to look at your case to see if it has room to accommodate an additional 1mm in the back. If you use just the normal battery cover, then there is no problem.

  • @SelfRighteous919 - I asked Seidio about using their case with this battery and they say it won't work.

But, I had an idea, just don't use the back cover when you put it in a case. If you can fit the old cover over this battery, then it should work.

  • where do you get the Battery?

  • @JansonChance

At the official verizon wireless store.

  • i wonder why they included the thicker one then

  • Thanks! This really helps!

  • Thanks for the info and the video. I'm glad that it will fit in the docking station. As an electronics engineer I can understand why they have the new battery door, and do not recommend using the old one with the new battery. It is probably due to heat concerns.

  • Hey thanks for the video. I bought the ext battery today and even at the beginning I can tell it's lasting much longer. Im happy that it fit with the stock door, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it. Thanks again bro

  • Sounds like a pretty noticeable gain then. I'm still waiting on my DX to arrive, but once it does I will consider picking up an extended battery. Also good to know I could use the regular backplate if I really wanted. Thanks much.

  • How many hours of use do you usually get with each battery? I'd like to get a better idea of the exact % benefit of the BH6X given its $50 price tag. Thanks much.

  • @pandapaultube

It is hard to say but for a typical 9-5 workday, it would be 70% after I get off work around 5 with the extended battery. During work, I used it very lightly, only turning on the screen to check my emails/chat and very light browsing. I *could* go two days on a single charge if my usage was like described above for both days. The extended battery makes me not worry as much.

On the regular battery I would say if my scenario was the same as above, end of work day might be 50%.

  • If you use the new extended battery cover, do you know if the unit will still fit in the media dock and the car dock?

  • @b360155

Good question, I overlooked that part in this video - I tried it on the media dock with the extended battery cover and it definitely fits. Looking at the back, there is plenty of room for the battery door.

  • Good video. I wanted an extended but I didnt want to add thickness. Do you notice any additional weight? Also, where did you purchase the battery and how much was it? Thanks

  • @DeanDino2359

Thanks! I personally cannot feel any additional weight. It still feels the same to me.

I purchased it on verizon's website, it came with free overnight shipping and I had a 25% discount on all accessories making the battery be a total of around ~38$.
