I used to feel bad about the fact that this campaign is just a marketing tool for dove, but if buying their products allows our young girls to see how they are being lied to everyday, then is it such a bad thing?

I would like these types of ads to be run on television whether they were from a corporate sponser or not, maybe we just need ANOTHER commercial that explains how you should just ignore 99% of comercials.

That being said, the fact that this commercial being made by dove reminds me of the tobacco companies that run commercials about quitting smoking.

You're very right, sadly. But it's also sad (but true) that all too many people -do- look at what is presented by the media and either strive toward it, or seek it out when looking for a partner. Look at statistics. :) If such physical levels are false, as seen here, then they are not just unnatural, but truly unattainable. But yes.. I only wish it wasn't Dove's advert..

I unsderstand the message of this video, but are people's perceptions of beauty really distorted? Only of those people do nothing but watch tv and read magazines. I think that most people realize, or at least should realize, that media is not reality, and is not meant to be imitated. Beauty "enhancement" techniques only damage people who cant distinguish fantasy from reality.

Man, You can do that with Pshop 5.5, No problem. (I use 5.5 for....a screen-printing color separation reason- color channels far more accurate on screen)

I have been a commercial artist/designer for 17 years though. (since before computers)

All the girl you see in print are "adjusted". Stick to

lower budget video to see the real goods (of both).

Not surprising...but that is a powerful photoshop program. Even my Adboe 8 with the plug-ins can't do that.
