  • Really nice cover! Just next time, tighten your bass head a little more. I watched with headphones and at least to me, it wasn't tight enough and overwhelmed everything. I like what you did in fills and a solid cover overall!

  • always love too watch stuff like this

  • @pkstaytrue Thanks for your feedback!

  • @pedro55rules Haha, it does a bit :)

  • @njnetsfan524 For the price, the DW3000 stand is good, but I'm already thinking of upgrading to the 9000 haha. It's more stable than a lot of stands but there is still some wobble that the 9000 doesn't have. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Sick cover man! How do like that DW 3000 hi hat stand? I was looking to get one and I was wondering how stable it is.

  • 1:05 sounds like my hot pockets are ready.

  • from 3:27 to the end it's really insane! awwwesome cover mate!

  • good stuff my friend

  • okay, so im trying to learn this song, i have most of it down, just the parts that are like 0:27 - 0:37 how many times u hit cymbal, between the snare? is it kick, cymbal and kick, kick, cymbal snare? whats the pattern its making me confused. Please help!

  • @famousmoney123 its really simple, crash on all quarters, 1 2 3 4, snare on 2 and 4, and bass drum on all 8th notes except 2 and 4. so it goes like this **crash bass, bass, crash snare, bass, crash bass, bass, crash snare, bass

  • @goodnamepending okay thank you i will work on that. i appreciate your help

  • @famousmoney123 I just type a reply with the drum tabs, but it give me an error every time I try to post. Anyway, @goodnamepending explained it well, except the pattern is B-B-S-B-B-B-S-B-B-B-S-B-B-B-S-B-B-B-S-B-B-B-S-B-B-B-S-B-B-S-B-S. Good luck with it!

  • @johnkew Lol isn't that the same pattern I explained? (except you put in 4 bars, rather than the single 1 bar pattern) I love your videos by the way, you seem very dedicated to learning the songs.

  • @goodnamepending It sure is the same, haha. I thought you were missing a bass drum note in there, but now I see you just combined it with the crash :)

  • @johnkew thank you very much im trying to get this down.

  • this is pretty good.

and why you have to use a "Moving" camera on your left side? its not much good at all. its better a "stay"

  • This is great! Thanks for the message, usually I just delete them for spam, but yours caught my eye. Cheers mate!

  • good job man. picked a good song

  • Dude, thanks for the message, I'm really glad you showed me this because you nailed it. I'm subbing for sure, keep up the great work!!

I'm planning on doing this cover in a couple weeks when I buy my friend's 7 string off of him, but if it takes too long I'll try it on my ibanez, it would be great if you checked it out when I get it up!

  • <33333333333 i love this ur really good

  • You're really good at drums man

  • this is good man really good

  • @johnnykhanhle Thanks!

  • @johnkew I got your message and this is amazing dude very impressive subscribing to your channel

  • @hawksteal Thanks for your great feedback, and thanks for your subscription!

  • @johnkew your an amazing drumer. thanks for sending me a link to your video, like i said it's amazing.

  • hey, i'm currently using the big headphone over my ear and I hate it....What kind do you have it on your ear and how much thanks..

  • @majestytd In this video I was trying out a pair of Bower-Wilkins C5s . They sounded great but weren't good for drum monitoring (clunky microphone on the cord, and not very good sound isolation). Now I have a set of Shure SE315's ($150), and they are excellent. I have also used cheaper Klipsch Image S4 ($80), and they did a decent job with foam ear replacements.

  • what are those things hanging in the background? i need something like that for my videos

  • @JessJessism Those are studio foam for sound dampening.

  • @johnkew I know what those are haha! I didn't word the question right, those sheets that are hanging behind you or whatever it is!

  • dude you are heaps good!

    smashed it (:

  • its probably the camera, but your arms seem to move a little slow. its all in time though. i like it :) you should venture into some more post-hardcore music!

  • this is .. BADASS <3

  • hey man this is really good. i think u should do the motivation.

  • Not bad *obama*

  • Fucking ace this man, such a good sounding kit, subscribed!

  • Dude thanks for showing me this your great :)

  • dang! you're amazing!

  • great job dude

  • Nice job, man.

  • dude this is one epic drum cover. awesome job bro

  • If you covered a Breakdown of Sanity song (preferably December) I would literally lick your nut sack. Even if you hate the music, dude you would cover that so nicely.

  • @codybumper Dude that album is so good! It's funny you mention December because I have that and Infest in my 'wish list' of songs to play. Good choice! (Spare me the favors though, LOL :D)

  • @johnkew

Oh, man, Im defiantly subbing now. I really hope you cover those! Hey if you like bands from Switzerland (Breakdown of sanity) then you should check out scream your name. They are still extremely unnoticed and it bothers me cause they are so awesome!

  • Damn, you're really good, arre you currently a drummer for a band?

  • @miggypiggy56 Thanks for the feedback! And no, I haven't played in a band for years. Just playing for fun.

  • @johnkew You far to good playing just for fun. Man get your act together and start a band and kickass :-)

  • Awesome cover bro!

  • sounds better than eal drums pretty sweet cover :)

  • Really good stuff. Your covers are becoming my favorite on youtube due to the song choices and the quality!! Keep it up

  • @littlelogan2449 Thanks man, much appreciated. I see you're also a fan of Trivium. I really want to play one of their songs.

  • @johnkew Yea there are awesome. As a drummer myself we used to play Pull harder on the strings of your martyr at shows and it was one of my favorites to play. Could be a good one to do.

  • @johnkew Are you gonna cover In Waves by any chance? :)

  • @OblivionGTR Another great suggestion - I bought Trivium's album not too long ago and I'm still previewing the songs. But definitely something from that album.

  • Sounds great! Im not using headphones so I could be wrong. but the ride sounds a bit overpowering on your right side sound. Perhaps maneuver a bit?

  • @rednite25 Thanks man, I did amp up the ride mic on this song, mostly because of all the crazy accents. It could probably stand to be dropped a bit.

  • Wow, Attack Attack and Tool on same drumcover channel! Awesome!

Do you like Post-HC or Death Metal?

  • @NykSantos I do like post hardcore. Not so much death metal, but I'm warming up to some bands.

  • @johnkew try listening Laid To Rest - Lamb of God, I wanted to do a cover but I need a splash :(

    Maybe you could make it!

  • @NykSantos If I can find the multi tracks, I just might. I know it was on Rock Band (or Guitar Hero).

  • @HeisW140 That side camera is an iPhone with a cheap little fisheye attachment I got on Amazon for $20. It attaches with a magnetic strip, and you can use it on any cheapo handheld camera with a flat lens. It has all kinds of barrel distortion and vignetting, but it's part of the charm.

  • @johnkew Cool thanks. My overhead Canon uses a fisheye, and the side uses a wideangle lens taped on the front :-)

I liked that angle - my shots are always distant and felt they make the vids seem impersonal or clinical. Not that I want my face up close, but it may help the connection between myself and the few folks watching. Thanks again :-)

  • Hey John - nice to see youre still going hard :-)

Got a quick question about a closeup camera situated near your hihat possibly in the past - it was close, yet gave a nice wide view...i have 2 currently & may get another cheapy for a front profile cam.. what was the camera you had for that angle? I have a big canon like yours for overhead and a handgrip panasonic for a side view. I cant get them close because they need distance to get the kit in frame. need a inbuilt wideangle or something.

  • hahaha dude i love the look on your face around 3:12 ...but seriously good cover

  • I actually hate attack attack, but really good job on that cover. :)

  • This is so amazing that I left this up and ventured off onto the web, then came back and was like, WTF I thought this was Attack Attack!

  • Beautifle! Thanks for sending me this! I'll definitely follow your stuff!

  • flawless. amazing drum sound

  • Snare sounds fierce man! Just a 57 on top? Good cover though!

  • @idreamtofflight Thanks man, it's an Audix i5 on the batter head and an SM-57 on the snare-side head.

  • Amazing.

  • thanks for showing me this... we should definitely do a duel cover

  • For some reason I can watch it now. Great job. Great cover as always. Your drums sound fantastic again!

  • @NYTROOPA Thanks Carmelo - I guess they opened it to watch after my dispute, at least temporarily.

  • That's awesome!

  • wow ur awesome

  • Will we be seeing more Tool covers?

  • @MetalDrummer1100 Absolutely - I'm trying to decide between Forty Six & 2 and Schism for the short term.

  • @johnkew I like Schism better, but the drums are better in Forty Six & 2.

  • @johnkew I would go with Forty Six & 2.

  • @johnkew May I also recommend Aenema??

  • Holy f*** dude, that's freakin' awesome! :D Thanks for the message, you're amazing :3

  • LOVE IIIT MAN!!

  • Wow dude awesome cover I'm glad you sent me the message. Have a nice day dude.

  • @SirrWilis Thanks for stopping by! Did you also have trouble with your video getting blocked?

  • @johnkew yes i did, mine was actually taken down once, you have to file a dispute with copyright laws giving the proper credit. :P it seems to be working fine now though!

  • This is epic! You are a amazing drummer! (:

  • you are an amazing drummer

  • @treegirl96 Thank you!

  • Dude I saw them while this was being uploaded they killed it. Go see them!

  • @CornerProductions2 Cool, they're coming to my neck of the woods soon - I saw they're playing Fort Collins. Hope to make it.

  • @johnkew Go see them. They are awesome live. Nice cover btw.

  • amazing song!

  • fricking awesome cover man! so glad i subbed.

  • @The2ndDogma Glad you liked it dude!

  • i dont know who the fuck attack attack is but you did a killer job!

  • I work Saturday mornings and this vid just made it a better day (and woke me up) Great skill! Thanks

  • I was just going to watch a few seconds. Here i am commenting lol. Very awesome.

  • ur drum cover is awesome. ur skills, ur audio, everything. but i just can't understand a thing what the vocalist is trying to say. hahah/

  • Once again, Perfecto!

  • Are those all new heads? They seem so non-dented. Haha

  • @MrIPunchHard They are new heads - it was about time!

  • awesome job! excellent playing and editing as always. check out between the buried and me, death metal band but they mix so many different styles of genres in one song, very challenging but a lot of fun to play since 1 song can consist of many genres, from jazz to tech death and from country to blue grass, pretty sick shit.

  • @RIPTheRev Thanks dude, and I'll check out that band, sounds cool!

  • @johnkew id recommend checking out the album colors, one of my favourite albums ever and it's just full of creativity

  • Though I'm not the biggest fan of this band, your cover was awesome as always. I guess I prefer my metalcore to be more influenced by classic heavy metal as opposed to punk. If you're looking for other metalcore bands to cover in the future, I'd recommend All That Remains (particularly anything off their "Fall of Ideals" album), or Periphery (they're probably more prog/experimental metal, but metalcore elements are definitely present).

    Anyhow, well done :D

  • @DrummingUpGames Very cool - thanks for these recommendations, I'll check 'em out!

  • Man, what can't you do!? This was totally awesome! You're a very well-rounded drummer.

I have a quick question, if you don't mind. How many hours a day do you practice? ( if you can get to the set, I know sometimes it's hard to do so )

  • @kcbszone Thanks Kacey - I'm glad the video wasn't blocked for you! I work pretty close to home, so I come home for lunch for an hour or two three times a week, and maybe squeeze in an hour or two on the weekend.

  • This is solid as shit my dude! haha watch my drum cover of it if you want! :D

  • @LandonSugarDrums Thanks dude - I tried to watch your video too but it gave me a message "this video is blocked in your country". Bummer, it happened to you too.

  • Awesome! :D Will you be covering more metal in the future? You might like some of the new Insomnium. Check out "Through the Shadows."

  • @ACardFan Thanks, and for sure I'll cover more metal. By the way, where are you watching from? I just got a note that this video is blocked everywhere except Haiti and Azerbaijan :\

  • @johnkew Huh, I'm from WA, U.S.
