  • holyfuck you scared me when you started talking like dark elf style.

  • after skyrim... i cannot play this.

  • @ravage53 this game is way better than skyrim

  • This was the first Elder Scrolls title developed under Todd Howard (though he and his team made Redguard first) so it's not surprising that the game is so different from the first two. In fact one could almost say there are two eras of Elder Scrolls games due to the differences in graphics, gameplay, and century (since the first two games were made in the '90s).

  • Scared the sh*t out of me when you said the y talk like this

  • bad video for the review, dident show the best of

  • Morrowind had a larger story line then both Oblivion and Skyrim... Also had way more items to find. Morrowind ftw

  • Too Short main quest? How about Skyrim? ._.

  • On the Skyrim loading screens, it mentions how Morrowind is an alien-type world.

No wonder everything is so out of place...

  • Im liking the idea of a RM for this, Screw Halo CE RM, get this on the remaking line!

  • I love watching this review over and over for some reason. I'll have it memorized by heart soon.

  • I'm actually finding Skyrim to have more in common with Morrowind than Oblivion. The Nordic art design and the color palette are more in line with Morrowind (compared to the bright and colorful Oblivion). The Imperial armor design goes back to the Roman style and Dwemer artifacts are all over the place.

  • Why does everyone hate on skyrim? If you just accept it for what it is (bethesda trying to appeal to a larger audience) its not that bad. At least its not the steaming fucking pile of shit that was oblivion.

  • @WhatsAnAvailableName Oblivion was incredible!

  • gothic 2 is better anyway

  • 6:42 Silly Cliff racer! 8:11 and this is why we must alway upgrade the Luck...

  • @TheKevlar4 Vvardenfell sank, after the volcano exploded...

  • ROFL Oblivion,Skyrim whores in the comments XD

  • expansion of skyrim should let us explore morrowind

  • @TheKevlar4 Or at least a return to Solstheim

  • I have to be honest. I find Morrowind hard to play because I'm spoiled by Oblivion's and Daggerfall's fast traveling.

  • @xxlogandxx1 Yes, Morrowind lacking fast traveling is a downer, but that gives you more oppurtunities to explore. Example, on my way to a city (been so long i forgot the name), I found about 5 caves, and about 3 people on the side of the road, each unique, each offering fun side quests.

  • @JakubFTW And I love that the first few time, but going from one side of the map to the other gets a little old after a while.

  • @xxlogandxx1 In the case you play on PC, have you heard of Morroblivion?

  • @RandomElderScrollFan Yes and I've played it. But I think it's just degrading to morrowind. It makes morrowind look like just another oblivion add-on.

  • CLIFF RACERS!!!

  • you scared me at 3:30

  • When is this guy going to review Skyrim?

  • the music is incredible in this game. soule knocked it out of the park.

  • I had this on Xbox (playing on 360) and the load times made it unplayable(10-15 minutes, yes I timed it)! Recently got it on PC playing on my Acer Aspire laptop and found a new love for it XD. Moral of the story, If you can get the PC version DO IT!

BTW love ur reviews DWTerminater :)

  • Funny how the PC versions of the ES series are so much better in the long run than the console ones, eh?

    Also, glad you like them.

  • @DWTerminator Yea, I wish I had a PC that could handle Skyrim to get rid of those load times. Im also glad you respond to your comments :)

  • @DWTerminator Will Morrowind run faster on an Xbox 360 with a 200 GB hard drive? I have Morrowind for PC and absolutely love it, but my PC isnt the best, so I constantly experience bugs and the occasional freeze and/or crash. Please respond.

  • Not really. It'll run about the same, probably. And everyone experiences crashes in Morrowind... It's just Bethesda's lack of QA and programming skills.

Do note that you *cannot* put mods on the Xbox version.

  • @JakubFTW YES. it will. ignore DWTerminators reply, it will be fast. the initial load will run you maybe a minute and a half, but every load thereafter will be 2-7 seconds.

  • @JakubFTW it will

  • @DWTerminator yeh, the pc versions has great mods too :D

  • @DWTerminator How many gigs of Ram does this need?

  • You'll be fine with 2. It uses less than that but I recommend a minimum of 2GB for pretty much everything nonetheless.

  • @LOLz261 10 - 15 min cmon bro. its about 3 - 4 tops.

  • @joeyxl3456 well I had a used copy and played it on 360 rather than the original Xbox, so maybe that had something to do with it. But still on PC its like 5 to 7 seconds.

  • @LOLz261 can i play the xbox(1) version on my 360???

  • @knackigersalat Yes, but you might need to update the backwards compatability on your 360 (can be done through xbox live or look on xbox.com to find the backwards compatablility disc download)

But I have to stress that the loading times are TERRIBLE!! I know its a little more money, but I reccomend you get the PC version if you can.

  • the music problem also present itself in Skyrim, great theme song, the music does not fit all.

  • [enter arrow to the knee joke here]

  • They should make an HD remake of this

  • @TrasherPop They should but modders have done this though.

  • @TrasherPop they have mods for the PC that give it HD graphics

  • @TrasherPop Just download the HD textures mod for it.

  • @TrasherPop download a texture pack

  • The music in Morrowind reminds me of when I played Zelda on my gamecube

  • 6:58

    haters gonna hate

  • You scared me with your dark elf voice..lol

  • The only reason i never got into morrowind was because the combat was very clunky and bad.

  • started with morrowind the dagger fall the skyrim then oblivion never played arena

  • i want to see a remake of morrowing but with revamped graphics

  • @DWTerminator woops sorry! watched the rest of the reviw lol :L

  • @DWTerminator you obviously havnt played the game enough because its not overall baron landscape and i reckon the music gives a sense of company wich is very appropriate for a lonely baron wasteland anyway... give it at least 150 hours it'l grow on you

  • To me this is the best rpg in the pc - vast world, real free roaming, you can practically go anywhere, even fly-levitate ;)- plus A-MA-ZING graphics for its time, the first time i saw the game was at a friend's pc and i 'fell in love' (sick). And one of the most original fantasy worlds i have ever seen-it really felt like ANOTHER world- high fantasy. A masterpiece!

  • Sorry for insulting... I overreacted

  • ARE YOU RETARDED?!?!?!

    OBLIVION HAS SHITY STORY!!!!

    THIS IS SO EPIC THAT...

    YOU're simply RETARDED!!!

  • DONT LISTEN!!

You are trying to... I have no words

    Dislike

  • i love marrowind with all my heart. but i have to admit. skyrim is one of the more immersive games that has come out this year.

  • WHAT!! How dare you say bad things about Morrowind music and effects. Morrrowind the best out of the series.

  • This is really a bad review. Move along folks.

  • @DWTerminator

Daggerfall is like a big mossy boulder. Huge but rather dull.

Morrowind is like a natural diamond. Rather rough around the edges, but view it from the right angle and it's marvelous.

Oblivion is like cubic zirconia. Looks a lot like the diamond, but lacks its true value and depth.

Skyrim is like a diamond ring. Much of diamond has been cut away to make it fit, but it's more useable than the uncut gem. Appreciated by the masses.

    deal with it.

  • Skyrim fanboys are some of, if not THE stupidest people I've ever seen in my life. It doesn't matter now whether or not the game itself is any good (which I'm certain it isn't) because those morons have completely ruined it. Deal with it.

  • @DWTerminator What's wrong with Skyrim?

  • @DWTerminator Skyrim is still an amazing game. Best RPG Ive ever played probably.

  • @DWTerminator How can fanboys ruin a single player game?

  • By babbling on and on endlessly about how it's the most amazing thing ever in the history of mankind and screaming obscenities at me for thinking otherwise (thus apparently having a brain is a terrible thing).

  • @DWTerminator I think I just relize Oblivion and Skyrim is the medevil equivalent of Grand Theft Auto (series) XD

  • Pretty apt comparison actually.

  • @DWTerminator The problem with the Twilight series comparison is that theres a significant proportion of people who despise twilight after having read it, such as critics or even other girls who cant get into it like the fangirls can.

Skyrim has gotten pretty amazing reviews across the board (including user reviews)with the main problems being bugs. I really dont understand what source you have that tells you skyrim is just a piece of shit.

  • @metaitachi There are plenty of reviews on skyrim that tell you the real flaws about the game and why it's nowhere near comparable to good rpgs. You should look harder and not give into the hype.Bugs isn't quite nearly the problem why skyrim is not that great of a game.I myself found the game shallow and boring after awhile with no immersion at all because of how generic everything becomes later on.It's just a sandbox game with everything made out of concrete, nothing you do effects anything.

  • @darklord1294 The vast majority of reviews are positive though, if you look at the metacritic score. Same with the user reviews. Obviously different people have different opinions but most people across the board agree its an amazing game.

  • @metaitachi I am not giving opinions,I am stating facts as to why this game isn't that great of a rpg people make it out to be.Alas, the casual simple minded masses win again. This game is now the pinnacle of rpgs for them and it is what the future of rgps will be.I look for a complex engaging story in my rpgs, which this game is devoid of entirely.I don't want to go into it's flaws right now but this series is just getting worst.

  • @darklord1294 Fair enough but i dont think this series was ever about a super complex intricate main story (according to DWs reviews, the stories were never great for the elder scrolls). Its more about the exploration and side quests and all of that stuff. Theres nothing wrong with having an accessible RPG, i personally get annoyed with games like Witcher 2 where i simply dont feel compelled to learn the intricacies. Skyrim is for that crowd. Not for superduper hardcore rpg fans.

  • @metaitachi I guess,I'm asking too much from bethesda. But things are simply too broken or monotonous up to a certain point which makes the game lackluster for me.It's too superficial all in all.I'm not much into sidequests and all because you don't feel involved in anything and even if you find something whilst exploring, you can create a better item yourself.I didn't like the guilds quests too, felt like rushing through them(they were short). It seems I spend too much time hating on video games.

  • @DWTerminator Agreed. I mean I am just as hype as any elder scrolls fan, and tbh, I think Skyrim is one of the best games of all time. I do, however, recognize Morrowind's brilliance. But even all game opinions aside, it's not their love for skyrim that makes them annoying, it's their fucking obsession with "Fus Ro Dah" and "taking an arrow to the knee". It's not funny and you don't hear me spamming about "Nerevarine" instead of "Dovahkiin"...

  • @DWTerminator (which I'm certain it isn't). certain?! Why don't u play the game before u make that decision. It's like people hating Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 but they have not played it. So don't say Skyrim is BAD when u have not even played it.

  • Basically you're saying the gaming equivalent of "don't knock Twilight until you've read it."

  • @DWTerminator Yeah if u want to put TWILIGHT in the agreement YES

  • *facepalm*

  • @Restaalin That's said PERFECTLY! Now all you have to do is get Bethesda to realize that. We want a natural diamond!

  • @Restaalin Skyrim? A diamond?

It's barely an RPG game, there's barely any choices, there's repetitive MISC quests, copy & paste voice acting and a lacklustre storyline.

  • @Restaalin

    Shhh Skyrim is amazing.

  • @Restaalin

Deal with it? Your opinion isn't fact, moron...

  • @Restaalin If that's your review on Skyrim and Oblivion, then im def' getting Morrowind, i love IV and V

  • @Restaalin Until Oblivion's cubic zirconia met the crystal skull, Shimmering Isles. That really upped the appraisal for me.

True, but Skyrim was very very cut. And it makes Morrowind in comparison look like the size of a grown human head.

  • @Gjkl345 shimmering isles? are you freaking serious?

  • @LoryuoFSE Sorry Shivering. Yeah that was the bomb.

  • @Restaalin It seems that you haven't really played Daggerfall. You are wrong about Skyrim, the cracks in the diamond ring are showing and it is huge.

  • I love this game so much, I really like Oblivion also and I cant wait to buy Skyrim soon!

  • I alwasy thought that the music (definitely not the sound effects.) fit the game very well. The music to my kinda speaks to me as that your alone in an adventure to save the world. I don't know sorry if this did not make much sense :|

  • Nah, it makes sense in that everyone feels different when it comes to music, but I don't get that feeling from the music at all.

  • @UmbreonUniverse

And i agree with you also. The music was kinda of like alienish. Like .. i just don't know but i fit like you say.

  • this sounds like a review from someone who sucks and keeps dying so he doesn't like it rofl

  • And yet if I didn't like it, then why would I give it a good score?

  • @DWTerminator you cant bitch about a game for 9 minutes then say :but yah what a great game" rofl

  • Actually... I can... and I did. Your mind has been blown.

  • How can someone that loves elder scrolls be so negative against the best one? Disappointed in you

  • Best one's Daggerfall. I don't love TES either. Especially not the latest two in the series.

  • I got this game and an original xbox afew days ago it's a fun fantacy adventure game but they walk and run weird The game was 16.00

  • I love Morrowinds main quest. Much better than the one in Oblivion imo.

  • @Sh4d3h00f

Yeah i agree with you. Especially the content it offers. Such as the More Items - loot, more skills to increase, more caves and tombs, daedric ruins and dwemer ruins, forts, pyramid forts so much stuff. You could make your own spells. Alchemy was much easier. *for me*

More quests, mini-quests, and large quests. More guilds to join and others like the houses and imperial cult. And Easy Empire Company. And also the DLC was much better IMO. Way better.

  • In all honesty I disagree on many parts..

The combat really isn't too bad, you will hit the enemy much more then 2-3 times from 25 hits.. I have played Morrowind a lot, and I have to say that the combat is extremely fast paced after a certain point, you will literally zoom around the enemy to bring him down.. I can get a full iron armor with a silver claymore in 10 minutes into the game (without stealing.), just by looting and selling. It is actually easy to gear up in the beginning.

  • @geenius3ab Yeah you can get about 1000 at the beginning of the game :D

  • @geenius3ab I had never understood people that crying about combat in Morrowind. Absorb health+ ebony staff= 1 hit death to ANY, I said ANYYYY creature in the game+ self heal. Do you want more? Make the enchant on the staff with 100 yard radius and enjoy mass killing with 1 hit. All creatures die if you hit just 1 of them. Only exception are Gods. For exmaple Vivec.

  • @alekslario Depends on your difficulty there.. On hard difficulty it is going to take much more then 1 hit, as the mobs will be 4 times stronger, making the game pretty damn enjoyable.

And in all honesty I haven't tried your way, absorb health shouldn't be that strong for one, ebony staff isn't doing that much dmg either, so I can't see it being that powerful.

I usually do the tribunal storyline before the morrowind one, makes thing easy, but I enjoy tribunal too much to pass.

  • @geenius3ab You should try it:S It's not about physical dmg. All you need is Azure's Star+ Ebony Staff. As well I always had 2nd staff with frost/fire enchants, in case when I needed to kill someone with high magic resistance.

  • the bad thing about morrowind is that i COULDN'T explore, or even do any quests for that matter, everything is at least level ten above everywhere you go, in all the missions, everything so i just keep getting killed. it takes forever to level up, and usually i all classes i make turn up to be crap so i just end up being stuck unable to do anything, and i just end up quitting. god i can't imagine how bad daggerfall is!

  • I'm running the Morrowind graphics and Sound overhaul, with over 100 other mods. Let me jsut say on a Vanilla stand point I don't completely agree with your review, but it is your opinion. Anyway, my Morrowind, puts Skyrim to shit, let alone Oblivion.

  • I wish this was for ps2

  • I actually love graphics like these. Some people say the Zelda Ocarina of Time graphics suck, but they're my favorite graphics out there. I started playing this game today and I love it. Mw3 can suck Elder Scrolls dick.

  • @JakubFTW What do you mean? When OoT came out, it has PHENOMENAL graphics. Obviously now, it shows its age. Also, you can still admire its art style and charm but obviously the graphics are dated.

  • @metaitachi I mean something about these graphics makes me happy. xD Idk.

  • kindof the only memory of my dad was when he gave me morrowind and dukenukem, tho i never knew my dad alot he still rocks :D

  • do you need a powerful pc to run morrowind?

  • Nope. Back when it came out you did, but these days pretty much anything *should* be able to max it. The problem I ran into was that newer cards have a hard time with DirectX 8.1 stuff.

  • @DWTerminator do u know if i can run this game on my new laptop, gana get it off steam? SPECS

Windows 7, 64 bit. intel core i5-2410M CPU@ 2.30 GHz. 6 gb ram. Intel HD graphics 3000. and it sais 1696MB graphics memory

  • Should run fine.

  • @DWTerminator o wow already responded. thanks for the help and quick response

  • No problem.

  • @jfl125 lol it'll have more fps than real life :P

  • @geekgirl32 its from 2002 roughly, so no. If you can play half-life 2 or tf2 then you can play this.

  • Is there any mod that makes combat better at all?

  • Not to my knowledge.

  • *miss* *miss* *miss* *miss* *miss* *miss* *HIT* *miss* *miss* *miss* *miss* Ahhh good ol morrowind :D
  • I do not agree with your view on Morrowind music, "everything is happy, joy-joy", because the idea behind the music is not to be dark, but to be mystic, mysterious, 'cuz you are in not so well known land... Bombastic battle music would ruin the atmoshphere IMO. Decent review in other aspects (little note - if you use points on begging of the game on combat skill, you will be compact with weapons almost from the beggining).

  • The problem with Morrowind's music is that it's simply too relaxing. Instead of conveying a mysterious or dark feel like it probably should, it comes across as "just chill, dude, everything's all good." I wasn't asking for bombastic battle music either, but something with more "oomph" would be a lot better. As it stands it's pretty gentle and as a result doesn't really convey a sense of battle.

  • the flaws didn't stop me from loving this, I'd never played a game that was so open and exciting to explore. I couldn't get anywhere till I created a char with good magic and combat from the start. choose a dark elf, short blade and destruction you can't go wrong.

  • Morrowind's OST always did make me sleepy from time to time

  • Concerning the near constant combat, I found I never could go in the water because it immediately became a clusterfuck of violence.

Oblivion really tempered that. Much less aggressive and far fewer in number were the enemies.

  • theres a choose best attack option!!??

  • Yes, there is.

  • hes saying everything is happy happy joy joy when the depressing music is on... GREAT

  • That's not depressing music. It's calm.

  • Imo the combat isn't bad!! If you haven't done a mage-warrior-tief combination and chose a weapon skill as major, you wont have any trouble hitting anything... unless your fatigue is down ;P

  • Man this game was awesome, I must of put in 300+ hours into it and I was still finding new stuff to do. The expansions were epic, the way you could level your acrobatics up to 100 and Spiderman your way around Balmora, it has to be like one of the greatest games I've ever played. Way better then Oblivion.

  • man i played this game on my xbox at the time my pc was slugish... those freaking load times on xbox were damn awful! great game though!

  • @DWTerminator

can you do a vid on Morrowind Overhaul, you know what it is? if you dont, check it ot, IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND

(it makes morrowind pwetyer than oblivion ;D)

  • I typically don't do videos on mods.

  • morrowind is beautiful

  • I disagree with you in many ways however that's not your fault as its your opinion.

I played and beat Morrowind as well as the expansions.

Morrowind is by far my favorite game of all time, i've easily played it 500+ hours.

It's the only game i've ever played that has fully immersed me in the game world and i pray that Skyrim takes notes from it.

Not trolling, just love this game to the point that i can see no evil in it lol.

Other than that good review, thorough, deep, and thought out.

  • ppl in this game walk like they have sticks up their butts lol

  • Nice review man!

  • Glad you liked it.

  • Great review. I agree with most of the stuff you said, the combat is what turns most people off when they start playing Morrowind.

    My little advice to those who do not want to grind alot to actually be able to hit something should;

    1. pick "Agility" as one of your main attributes.

    2. Pick "The Lover" as birthsign which grants you 25 points to Agility.

And voila! Now you are able to hit stuff alot more at Level 1!

    Have fun!

  • Prehistoric. O_O

  • My only problem is the quest log, I wish it was MUCH more organized.

  • That's a complaint most people have with it.

  • The closed captions are fkin HILARIOUS!

  • Why was there no mention of the ability to add mods to the game. If you're playing on the PC, you can add mods to the game.

  • You can add them, sure. I didn't remember to mention them in this review (I don't script these things, lest I sound like a total idiot when I read them), but suffice to say they didn't play a role in the score itself.

  • what games do you still play?

  • Pretty much anything I've got.

  • out of 25 strikes you would probably hit 2 times? your exaderating it alot lol, if you use longblade and pick it as a major skill it is much higher chance that that

  • oo i remember that dungeon, i wish that skyrims dungeons are that memorable :D

  • Good review DWterminator.

The animations are terrible. But if you really want to enjoy a extremely deep, extremely satisfying RPG, this is your choice. All in all it deserves nothing less than a 5/5, most of your negative comments were mainly because it is an aged game. Although you treated Daggerfall with more respect to its aging. Liked and subbed :)

  • Not all of my negative comments are due to the game's age. It does have legitimate shortcomings in its design that should've been ironed-out before release, but nothing too terrible. Daggerfall's actually aged a lot better than Morrowind has (and that tends to be the case with 2D games vs. 3D ones).

  • bro cmon are you serious, the music in morrowind MAKES the game its sooo wonderful. i still get sad (in a good way) when i hear Morrowinds music. love it.

  • I'm not saying Morrowind's music is bad. I'm saying it doesn't FIT the setting. It creates a mood that it shouldn't.

  • i thought morrowind was so awsome the first time i started playing it got to lv 40 on 1 char than i picked up gothic 2 ever since i cant get back into the elderscrolls series there just so boring anymore

  • I am a huge morrowind fan, but I don't gonna sit here and pretend that morrowind is a perfect game. The combat IS bad, animation is bad, and the no matter how good your skill in combat is you still got dice rolls, you only get more likely to hit in higher skill levels. I lost so many times in combat due to random dice rolls, it become a spam fest with no acual skill, just try again untill you win. The music is kinda funny, you go exploring a dark scary tomb, then the joy music starts to play XD

  • ilove morrowind oblivion and all the fallout games 1-3 +nv

  • We're watching you. Scum.

  • I feel like you seriously exagerated the combat system. 2 out of 25 hits? This is why it is an RPG. If you want to use swords, pick a combat oriented race, major in long blade, and boom, even at level 1, the majority of your hits will land. I'm not excusing the way the system was made, it definately is flawed, but statement like that are what scare potential new players away. Unlike Oblivion, this is a much truer RPG, and you have to treat it as such.
