if you do not see a dental professional to get your teeth clean, you still get tartar on your teeth. Sometimes it is under the gums ,but it is still there. If left there you will develop gum disease and lose bone.

I haven't been to the doctor in ten years and I don't have that situation. I still use a damn toothbrush and toothpaste and I try to floss (occasionally -- it's hard making it a habit) but I still @#$%ing brush my teeth.
