this is a skim board basically, while it is wake surfing it is the easy way of doing it. Using a conventional board in my opinion is what makes wake surfing more impressive. good moves though, just move off of the begging board and do some harder tricks now that you have mastered it.

@insertmynamewhere try moving both feet more towards the front of the board by like.. an inch or 2... but pressure on your front foot allows you to ride without the rope. then just play with the wake with the rope and eventually you will find the rope with constant slack, then just toss it in.

we've been doing wake surfing for years - mostly using Mals and 7' surf boards - great fun, real economical and easy on the body. we use a real short leg rope to stop the board entering the boat when we bail off the back.

I'm not sure what you can do already but start making snappy turns then kick the tail out for lipslides then backside lipslides. You could try riding switch backside, doing fire hydrants which is putting your hand on the board and lifting up your foot or surface 360s or ollies. Just do what you want and have fun trying.

Thank you. That's a tough trick you have to stay close enough to the boat that you aren't out the back before the trick is finished and have enough speed forward to keep momentum when you do come around. Other than that just play with it and practice and you'll have it in no time.

First off don't talk trash its a sport just like surfing is, if you dont like it don't do it. Second I've ridden everything from the board you saw in the video to a 10'2" Infinity longboard even stuff as crazy as a door that we had to replace at our house. I started out on a 5'10" surfboard and learned how to do these tricks on it so If you want to bring your 5'8" I'll show you that I can ride it then letyou have a go at it....its not as easy as it seems

The clean wake normally develops when you have flat water that you are working with. If your lake is choppy then the wave coming out the back of the boat seems to be choppy. At least that is my experience with wakesurfing. Also be sure to get as much weight on the side of the boat your sufing on and as little as possible on the other side. Last try to get more weight on the very back of your boat to get the wave height higher.

why put weight on the side of the boat you don't surf on? I used to do that and thought at times it helped. But since stopping I think its consistently been a better wave with no weight on the non-surf side. also is the 1300/900 internal ballasts are are you using sacks on your surf as well?

I have about 3000 lbs spread from the front to the back all on the surf side of the boat. Some of the weight gets put in the middle of the boat.

maybe the boats wake isn't big enough for your weight or maybe ur not hitting the sweet spot. also try bending ur knees alot and leaning forward. couple guys who come out boarding cant do it behind the tige cause they weigh too much and the phase five board is too small for their weight, try bigger board much easier (even a real surfboard to learn on)
