  • I remember when gas prices were 25 cents a gallon in Detroit ,in my volkswagan bug I drove for ever !

  • Not later than 1978 as gas went to 80 cents average then. I used to fill my 70 Roadrunner on less than $10 back then from bone dry and it had like a 22 gal capacity. Also having No-Lead (unleaded) for 2 cents more says it's probably post 1975. I still remember my parents griping that gas topped 32 cents (no unleaded then, everything had tetraethyl lead additive for knock reduction then)

  • Force the gas companies to lower prices. Refuse to buy gas from 1 company at a time! Everyone who reads this, do not buy fuel from Arco/AMPM/BP until they bring their prices down. If you do this, & tell your friends/family to do the same, they will have no choice. I am not singling out this supplier, but they do not offer as many reward programs, so more Ameriicans will go along. We can force the oil mafia in this country to stop gouging. Please pass this on to everyone you know.(cont.)

  • The first company, as I said, must be the BP group, which is ARCO/AMPM. We must work together to stop being raped by the oil companies. Check my page, so we can all work together & put gas prices back where they belong. BP is the first corporation, but we can bring them all to their knees. We can work together on this without altering our lifestyles, driving less, or any other B.S.-they need us, not the opposite. Also, please write me if you have any supportive ideas.

  • It's too bad that kind of thing won't work. We would still be buying the same amount of gas. It would just put a company out of business and raise the profits for another company. I think the answer is research into alternative fuels.

  • I agree with you about alternative fuels, but the current cost is too high for many people(vehicles, not hydrogen or natural gas). Arco will not go out of business if they do this. They can afford to drop $1-$1.50, & still profit reasonably. We just have to force them. No one is altering their lifestyle by trying this, just skipping one provider.

  • This could with have been late 1973 or winter of 1974 through summer of 1975.
