The real awesome part was just before I got the camera out! The storm literally crawled over the mountains. Most ominous thing I've ever seen. I'm a former storm spotter for the National Weather Service and did most of my reporting in tornado ally in Nebraska. None of those storms were as amazing as this one was as it came over the mountains.
I used to live in Texas, near Dallas, and loved springtime, just for the storms! Wanted to chase, but never really got the chance. Weird thing is - live in Texas from '92-'99 and never saw a single tornado! :-(
I, too, used to live for the storms. Montana just doesn't have storms! The lightning, the driving rain, the pounding thunder, the thrill of thinking any minute I might be fried by lightning or torn to shreds by a tornado was something I looked forward to every afternoon. Watching the clouds gather and the humidity go up around 4pm was almost too much to endure! Anticipation.
The neighbors thought I was quite out of my mind, I think.
I love storms! That was great!
