Im one of the few people who loved A Thousand Suns because it doesn't sound like any other album I've ever heard before. That's the opposite of selling out. I loved Hybrid Theory, and Meteora was good but it was almost a less awesome version of HT, didn't like MTM except for occasional moments. ATS I didnt like at first.. but the more i listened the more it made sense & I'm very impressed with it. Either way I'm a fan of the band, not albums or eras. Don't have to like it all. Just support em.

They'd be selling out if they stuck to the same formula and kept cranking out the same album just because they knew it would sell. I didn't care for MTM but ATS was in my opinion their best album. They dared to be different from everything else out there. How is that in anyway mainstream?

How are they sellouts? They did the opposite of that. Being sellouts would be staying the exact same band they were in 2000. They grew and branched out to other stuff because that's what they do. For those of us who like the head banging heavy aspect of LP, there's "Given Up" from Minutes to Midnight. For those who like the epic rap feel with Mike, there are songs like "When They Come for Me" and "Wretches and Kings", and for those who liked LP's quieter sound there is "Leave Out All the Rest".
I see Linkin Park as a kid who is growing. First albums and even before the first albums they were like angry teens rebelling against things, then the teen grew up and saw the injustice in the world and started fighting it still being angry, then the last album he grows into a man who sees that being angry won't help anything. I could tell this in a better way, but you get my point. Linkin Park grw up. Lets see what they bring in their fifth album. By the way, I love all Linkin Park albums.

So here's a list of non-mainstream nu-metal bands: Twin Method, Dry Kill Logic, Lifer, Primer 55, Soil, Unloco, Five Bolt Main, 40 Below Summer, Hed PE, and Nothingface. That's just to name a few. I never called Linkin Park sellouts, I just stated that they are relatively mainstream -- meaning they are popular enough to many have fans outside of their genre.

Grow the hell up. Support them or don't. I do understand that some of their stuff has been less than epic, but time changes everyone. @magott1001001 They're not mainstream as in club music or hip-hop on the radio; they're mainstream rock. They were mainstream nu-metal. So here's a list of non-mainstream nu-metal bands: Twin Method, Dry Kill Logic, Lifer, Primer 55, Soil, Unloco, Five Bolt Main, 40 Below Summer, Hed PE, and Nothingface. That's just to name a few. I never called Linkin Park sellouts, I just stated that they are relatively mainstream -- meaning they are popular enough to many have fans outside of their genre.

There is no ground for you to even begin to claim that they are not a different band that they were a decade ago. They certainly are not members of any subgenre of metal anymore. However, they've always been relatively mainstream, which some people fail to realize.

@2010miryam Phew, not forever alone.True they changed a lot: all these new songs seem so 'softie' in comparision to the older ones, but it doesn't matter. I still like them, LP reaches me on a whole new level. LP did infact put a lot of effort into the album, made hundreds of songs and selected only these they liked the most. They still are a REALLY talented band, jut in a different way. People saying 'I like the old LP' or 'I like the new LP' are stupid to me 'cause you know what? YOU LIKE LP.

Okay, Let me put this in simple terms. It's the music Industry and it's changes. Musicians right now only change because their trying to stay par with the genre of today. So that's what LP is trying to do. Not because they want to try something different, They know that if they stay with the sounds of Hybrid theory and Meteora, They wouldn't get very far and go underground. So it's a shame I know, The music of today is pretty bad and ATS is an album that doesn't even par with the others.
