i have WPW too, :( im really scared to get the operation in February! i have had two symtoms. I passed out once in 4th grade..im older now but what is the procedure like? -___-
@6LuvBug6 just get it, it will surely help, i know how scared you must feel, i was the same, but I had to try do something about it,l couldnt live on that way living in fear, not being totally free from worrying about when its going to happen again, surgeons know what they are doing, they might put you fully under or semi under, I was semi under, and I could feel when they were burning those extra bio-electrical wires, hurts but its worth it in the end!
@rezbreed i had the operation in jan but it wasnt successful. my doctor said m y heart beat too fast and if they continued i would have heart damage. so there going to attempt it again
I was born with this syndrome and had the ablation surgery 15 years ago. Completely healed.. However, if your experience tachycardia, I found that if you get next to a wall and "stand of your head" it would slow to a normal rate almost immediately. This was how I easily dealt with it. The medicine and strategies didn't work for me. The doctors had to massage my carotid arteries to slow it down. But the head stand is much cheaper and quicker. Hope this helps..

@lani807 Hey, yeaahh I was really nervous! and just a bit scared. :\ They say the surgery couldn't of been better but I'm still getting the symptoms of it again. i recognized that i have the WPW when i was 15 years old, that time i feel my heart want to take off from its place, and its bed very fast (180 p/s), the doctor ask me to keep take some types of drugs, but i didnt because dont like, now my age is 31, and i feel better, but when i take any alcoholic drinks then i got some heart problem
i was diagnosed with WPW last year and i had catheter ablation feb. i had 3!!! extra pathways i was only 17 years but thanxx to god it all went good... theirs nothing to worry about the chances of anything serious happening to you are less than 1%...
My first symptom occurred when I was 12 years old and went through multiple attacks until I went through the ablation when I was 21 years old. I was the 103rd patient to go through the procedure. I am now 40 years old and have been completely free of any attacks and have had a great life.
I would like to note that I did go through cardiac arrest, my heart rate was over 300 beats a minute. I died seven times that night. I am truly blessed that I made it to the hospital before my first death.
They told me to get an ablation and yesterday I had the operation done. Now I am completely cured and I can return to play D1 football again. It is truly a blessing to be better today than I ever was before. I highly recommend this surgery for anyone with this heart condition, because if all goes well you well never have this problem again. God bless you all, and come out and watch our football games in the Alamo Dome 2011! Go Roadrunners!

@dawe383 Congrats on the cure man. Hope all is still going well. Have you had anymore episodes since the ablation? Where did you have it done, and who was your doctor? Thank you for any info you can offer!
I was born two months earlier then i should've with this syndrome. My heart beat was close to 300 beats a minute and my whole body swelled up due to the blood. I almost died and doctors thought that I wasn't going to make it. 17 years later, here I am, alive and well!
My 10 year old had WPW, but had cardiac ablation today and now the condition no longer is there! I am proud of my Adam for getting this done! Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan was just SUPER in their service.
@dad1717 I notice its been a year or so since your son's ablation. How has it been for him since then? Anymore episodes? I just found out my daughter has it and we are looking at options for her. Hope Adam is doing well!!! Thank you so much for any info!
I had WPW, it got worse as i got older but I got it cured when i was 23 when i went for an ablation. Its scary to have cuz you feel like you are gonna die when you have an episode, get the ablation if you can!!!!
@rezbreed How long has it been since your ablation? Have you had anymore episodes? Where and who was your doctor? Thank you so much for any info you can offer me!
@BakerFX4 April of 2003 i went for mine, it worked great! I went to London Ontario Canada, not sure the name of the docotrs and surgeon or even the hospital, lol, but London is the heart capital of Canada. I recommend you get it, it will change your life! I have had no episodes since, however I do every once in a blue moon get a skipped heart beat which is way more manageable than having an episode. I know how you feel living with wpw, it sucks, but there is hope!! I feel totally fine!
@moscd4 I had it since i was born, it didnt really bother me until i turned 18, even though I noticed my heart racing when i was like around 8 or 9, i even showed my parents one time and asked them why, but they didnt do anything about it. But you should get it checked out to see if theres anything that can be done and to avoid any harm to your child.
@moscd4 My 3 day old daughter was diagnosed with WPW also. We are currently trying to find meds to work on her to control the episodes. Can you offer me any information on what you guys ended up doing for your newborn. This is so scary and any info would be GREAT! Thank you so much!
@BakerFX4 awe thats too bad, I really feel for you being a parent, I have kids, im worried they might get diagnosed too! but surgery might be risky at that age, I was born with wpw too but I wasnt diagnosed until I was 21, however, I remember every episode I had growing up as a kid, its not so bad, maybe becasue I was young and my heart was more newer, I would imagine it just gets worse with age, but it could also be worse at a young age, either way, I would get in touch with cardiologist
I had WPW for 33 years before I had the cardiac ablation. It affected my life tremendously and got steadily worse as I got older. It was NEVER found on an EKG until my doctor caught it during an episode.
i also had this. it only started when i was 19 and only happened while i was doing any exercise. my heart rate would go very high and i wud feel very faint and need to lie down for a while. i had the operation a year ago they never put me to sleep iwas able to watch 6 screens beside me that the docters were using to see what they were doing inside me. they injected addrenaline into me to start the high heart rate. the highest i remember it being was 320 beats a min. it has ttally gone now.
i got this treatment in Ottawa about a year ago. It's been gone since. Although throughout my life it really never bothered me, the only freaky thing is that when my heart rate would go into athlete mode, when it slowed down it would go from 100 plus or whatever beats, to resting in one beat. very weird feeling and hard to discribe
I'm 12 when i was five i figured out i had this with a really fast heart beat i told my mom and we told doctors finaly they found out i had WPW they did surgury and when it was finnished i couldnt move my legs for at least a hour (as told) i felt it painfull because i was so young but i said "it doesnt feel like its gone" then they looked into it and weeks later said i still have it...they did another surgury and finaly went away....now im 12 turning 13 and i dont have it anymore.
i have WPW. i was diagnosed in january. i will be going for testing on wednesday. once i get the testing i will be able to get the ablation surgery.. WPW really impacted me. i was really active then i found out i had this. i was told not to participate in any activities that get my heart really pumping. i couldnt do that im a soccer player and i live for the game. soccer is my life. i just look ahead and hope for the best. i know that many great athletes had WPW mario lemiuex, cristiano ronaldo
thank you, this was very helpful. I just recently found out I have this condition upon receiving an ekg. I don't get it often, but when I do it is usually extreme and uncomfortable. Informative video, thanks.
im 19 and illl be getting the ablation in a couple weeks..i have all the same symptoms as everyones talking about here, hopefully this gets rid of it for good
me too im suffering from the wpw, they discovered it when i was 18, now im 25 old. tils now i didnt have big problems with it. during the last month things changed, i have almost every night problems to sleep, i feel dizzy, im concetrating on my heart beat, im getting totaly crazy! I dont know if all that is psycologically, if im doing a biger problem out of it. end of this month i meet a specialist, think im going to do a operation. is it painfull? how sucsessfull is it??
the doctor told me its 80% percent chance of success. no it aint painfull. they first put you in narcose (the sleeping thing) then they do 3 little snake like things through your groin and then when they know where the extra wire is they get a 4th to freeze it or burn through it. this will all happen when you're in some sort of coma. so actually you go to sleep and wake up when its all over :)
@grichtil hey man i'm in the same boat i was diagnosed with WPW couple days ago and i've never had any heart problems or anything and im only 21!. Could you share how it all went?
Hi I'm 24 and I've been diagnosed with WPW 13 years ago. I had 2 "failed ablations". Actually the ECG abnormality has gone and it seems "healed" but sometimes my heart has premature beats and I'm afraid of that. Isn't easy to live with that; but don't be worried, everything has a solution.
im brendan 19 years old and ive had wpw and its messed my life up. ive had the ablation once and it seems that nuffin has change...my heat beats really fast i feel like im gonna pass out and die and all tho ive been told that i will be allright i see it as not a joke or something to put a side its not right for my heart beating like that. Its really bad, does any1 no the answer to help where to go from here, cause im livin in hell right now and stressed to the max
My heart first did the "racing" thing when I was about six...and it kept on about once a month, going on for hours and hours on end... Nobody knew what it was. The school nurse thought I was overreacting. Nobody did anything. Finally, my doctor discovered it. I had the surgery three years ago at 13. It wasn't the best experience, but it was totally worth it. Three years later and I still haven't had any problems. It's amazing not to have to deal with it anymore.
wolff parkınson whıte sendromlu bir türk olarak bu illetten kurtulmanın çok güzel bir duygu olduğunu söyleyebilirim ama türkiyede ablasyon yapan deneyimli hekim biraz kısıtlı
It is not hard from the medical view. in fact it is preaty simple.
From the patient prespective the case is a litle difrente. If you can tolerate good temperatures of 50ºC on your chest, so it will easy to take, but in my case, that was very uncofortable and a litle painfull when the local anestasy fade out.
when i was in 6 class now i`m 10class for me doctors give proportion. 75% when atack come i will dye then they sad mewhen u had atack call and we will operate u, i have atack and call i go to hospital they don`t operate me but send me go and say same word CALL when i ariwed to home about after half year i had attack and i shuted down for a moment just for me looks that but i wake up in hospital my hearth beated 160 beats in socond and same send home and CALL
I'm 21 and have WPW. I have had it for about 7 months and man it has been hell. 146 heart rate while sitting literary all day for months. Thought I was going to die really I was almost positive a couple of times laying on the grass about 3:30 in the morning with 135 bpm with extreme chest pain. God got me through it or I wouldn't be here and now the ablation comes next. I'm trying to get the doctor Lamarcus Aldridge had for the Blazers but we will see.Everyone trust God it will be ok.
im 16 and i have WPW, i had the oblation (sp?) surgry a while backand we thought that worked but it turns out that i have a concealed pathway, but its all good, because i still barley ever get epsiodes anymore and i can still pllay volleyball =]
i am 13 and have had WPW since i was 2. i have had two oblations , one when i was 4 and one when i was 11. None of them worked cause the pathways are too close together :( but i am just on flecanide now and i am fine, apart from getting a bit out of breathe . but its all good.
I had WPW and I had to get two ablations done. The operation is great. Recovery time is just an over-night stay in hospital.
Some tips for people who still have WPW, if you have an attack, things that i found helpful to do were, 1) to lie down and put ur feet up higher than your head, 2) massage the coroted artery behind you ear on you neck, and 3) gagging as if your getting sick stopped my attacks, i got sick when i was in E.R. and my attack stopped. Good luck!
I have WPW, and I have been treated with Flecianide Acetate for over a year. Unfortunatley there are still break throughs. I just had a stint in the hospital overnight after going through the ER. I think I am going to get the ablation done. Thanks for the video.
Please get the ablation. My son is 14 and I didnt know he had wpw and he had a full cardiac arrest, luckily he survived, but I wouldnt wish an incident like that on you or your loved ones.
I was diagnosed with WPW about two hours ago. The doctor didn't explain much to me, told me to go home and look it up, and here I find this. Great info!
hi, I'm 15, almost 16 years old, and i went to a cardiac specialist a few days ago to find i actually have WPW syndrome. I'm glad you put up this video, it helps me understand it much better, i am most likely going to go through with the surgery so i can get back out there and play soccer without having to worry about medication. thanks again for putting up this video. =)
i have WPW too, :( im really scared to get the operation in February! i have had two symtoms. I passed out once in 4th grade..im older now but what is the procedure like? -___-

thank you, this was very helpful. I just recently found out I have this condition upon receiving an ekg. I don't get it often, but when I do it is usually extreme and uncomfortable. Informative video, thanks.

Hello everyone!
me too im suffering from the wpw, they discovered it when i was 18, now im 25 old. tils now i didnt have big problems with it. during the last month things changed, i have almost every night problems to sleep, i feel dizzy, im concetrating on my heart beat, im getting totaly crazy! I dont know if all that is psycologically, if im doing a biger problem out of it. end of this month i meet a specialist, think im going to do a operation. is it painfull? how sucsessfull is it??

hellooo im 17 im having operation in 20 days and im shiting my selth
bendyovboro92 2 years ago
the doctor told me its 80% percent chance of success. no it aint painfull. they first put you in narcose (the sleeping thing) then they do 3 little snake like things through your groin and then when they know where the extra wire is they get a 4th to freeze it or burn through it. this will all happen when you're in some sort of coma. so actually you go to sleep and wake up when its all over :)

Isn't easy to live with that; but don't be worried, everything has a solution.

i have wpw
it can race over 180 beats per min for no reason i also get random odd beats that leave me dizzy
i have chronic fatige
and some times cant sleep cause of my breathing
it is a constant up hill battle i can relate
i take omega 3 to help my fatige but there
aint much to do about the dizzyness and sometimes my vision go and its all dark
i still need surjury and having a 24 hour heart monitor put on later this month

My heart first did the "racing" thing when I was about six...and it kept on about once a month, going on for hours and hours on end... Nobody knew what it was. The school nurse thought I was overreacting. Nobody did anything. Finally, my doctor discovered it. I had the surgery three years ago at 13. It wasn't the best experience, but it was totally worth it. Three years later and I still haven't had any problems. It's amazing not to have to deal with it anymore.

when i was 12, i was operated hehe

is it hard the opertion?
radydragoon 2 years ago
It is not hard from the medical view. in fact it is preaty simple.
From the patient prespective the case is a litle difrente. If you can tolerate good temperatures of 50ºC on your chest, so it will easy to take, but in my case, that was very uncofortable and a litle painfull when the local anestasy fade out.

I'm trying to get the doctor Lamarcus Aldridge had for the Blazers but we will see.Everyone trust God it will be ok.

i am 13 and have had WPW since i was 2. i have had two oblations , one when i was 4 and one when i was 11.

Thanks for the video.
messagepa 3 years ago
Please get the ablation. My son is 14 and I didnt know he had wpw and he had a full cardiac arrest, luckily he survived, but I wouldnt wish an incident like that on you or your loved ones.

hi, I'm 15, almost 16 years old, and i went to a cardiac specialist a few days ago to find i actually have WPW syndrome. I'm glad you put up this video, it helps me understand it much better, i am most likely going to go through with the surgery so i can get back out there and play soccer without having to worry about medication. thanks again for putting up this video. =)
