My dad was working part time at a bowling alley in Vegas and took me there to see Jonny Harra who was making an appearance for something. That was back in '78/'79. I thought he was so cool. He signed my shirt.

I saw Johnny in 1976 and I used to go and see him whenever he was in Denver. I have a photo of Johhny with me and a cake I made for him. Also got a single he was selling at the time. Like you was one side and the other was Love Me Up. They are a bit scratchy, but I'd love to get them up here if it were allowable.
@steve02127 Steve I turn 59 next month. Johnny was a tad older perhaps. Not much. Harra was good and is good. But back then Dale Eli Culberston could sound more like Elvis when he wanted to..... Where is he now? I don't know he seems to be quite a Mystery, man.
johnny is and will always be the best eta there ever was or will be.anyone can be an eta but it takes someone special to be the kind of person elvis was..johnny is that special person..im also an eta but dont sing or look like elvis i try to live my life helping the next person and care for people like elvis did..johnny harra is a wonderful person and for some of you to make comments like you have is just wrong..just shows what kind of up bringing you had..
JOHNNY IS NOT ELVIS AND FOR YOU TO TALK ABOUT BEING FAT..THINGS CHANGE...HOPE YOUR MOTHER DOESNT SEE YOUR COMMENTS SHE WOULD PROB BE UP SET THE WAY YOUR TALK ABOUT PEOPLE..
@lindalovesmusic1 What you are doing is just a smear campaign to destroy Johnny's career because he didn't turn out to be what you had hoped he would be.
Johnny Harra you have got what it takes, you have the voice, that will go on with Eta's keep up your amazing work..if anyone else out there can do better then i congatulate you..if your not happy with ETA'S then dont comment..simple as that 100++++ Johnny Harra..
Have to say. Johnny Harra may have been big in Vegas for a short period of time. He could not get out of the Elvis persona. Sad. But then on the other hand. Steve Sogura knows exactly who he is. He does the King just to keep in in front of people. Trust me, he' s not doing it for the money. But for the enjoyment.
he is rubbish, he is twice as fat as elvis ever was, and needs to get a life himself,, MATE>>> its an impersonation... your not Elvis okk. How embarrasing..
what people dont seem to understand about E.T.A.s is the price we pay for doing these shows we love in memory of a man the world loved, johnny harra was great live and ill tell you he would still sell out today, johnny was one of the all time best.
he brings a whole other show to the fans, unique to johnny i believe. way to go johnny
How can anyone compare this man with the best looking human being ever. I mean check out the scene at 5:00. He sounds a liitle like Elvis when he speaks but that's it. It stops there. Please.
Now does anyone think the presenter at 3:40 look like Bill Bixby? (the Incredible Hulk actor who also starred with Elvis in the movie Speedway)
My father was friends with Johnny Harra back in 1995-1997. We used to go out to dinner with him all the time and he had been to our house on several occasions. He never went out of character! He always talks and acts like Elvis. I actually used to think he was the REAL elvis:)
I agree with you. There is nothing more sad than to see an Elvis impersonator think he is really Elvis. But I think that Johnny Harra has been doing this for so long that I believe that he doesn't know how to not to act like Elvis. I think that he remains in character for the fans.
I can see a commitment. we all wish ELVIS was alive an american success story makes you think it could happen to you . AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL . I tip my cowboy hat to you JOHNNY HARA johnny suede
Doesn't this guy ever come out of character? If he impersonates Elvis, wonderful, he does a fantastic job-don't get me wrong. But who is the real Johnny Harra? Does he even know? I mean the guy even named his daughter Lisa Marie!
why the hell are people bashing Johnny Harra if it wasn't for him there wouldn't be such a big market for Elvis impersonators...he had it all the looks, voice(fuck what anyone says he sounded like Elvis in speech and singing voice not as strong as Jimmy Ellis but very good) and mannerisms...so please kill the noise!
I talked with this man on the phone...and he's a nice guy! I think he knows he's not Elvis, he just sounds and looks a lot like him...Sweet guy..Hope he comes to Seattle someday to perform.
What a sick unit!!! It's a worry he feels the need to explain his awareness that he is not Elvis but wouldn't you think he would drop the character while he does so? However he also says his mother resembles Elvis' and named his daughter Lisa Marie. The Silly bastard should realise that if they put on the suit, hairstyle and glasses most people will resemble Elvis, thank you very much!!! However most will sound a hell of a lot more like him. This jerk's voice is insulting to Elvis' memory.
Johnny Harra could care less about Elvis' fans. Someday the people he has taken over the years will start talking, and I think that someday is nearing fast.
i am a elvis impersonator of 28 1/2 years and i admire what johnny has done in his career and i understand what he and others like me and him are going through. me on the other hand NEVER CLAIM TO LOOK LIKE NOR SOUND LIKE ELVIS but i have been doing this for a long time and if people say that i sound similar and resemble elvis then thats ok and if they say that i don`t then thats ok too. i think its wonderful that people like johnny and me and others like us try and keep the memory alive .os77
As a former Elvis impersonator much better than Johnny, that could not get my own career off the ground I would say that I made the mistake that Johnny's been making all his life, which is always thinking that you have to stay in character, you can clearly see that he is even copying what Elvis had said about trying to make everybody happy, for me a long sad road that I had to get off of.
about the movie This is Elvis. one reason why the other people (actors) arent talked about is because they are all dead. Johnny is the only one still living from that movie. and for not showing his face in the movie is because he looks so much like E.P. and it was made not to long after E had died It wouldve caused a riot with people. People actually killed themselves because E.P died. If his face was shown in that movie it would have been caos
I do not know how Johnny Harra could be the star of "This Is Elvis", when JH only had a five minute role in it, and that was at the very beginning, then it was over. I don't even think we saw his face. Other actors had their role in the movie as Elvis too, does anyone remember who they were?
"This Is Elvis" is not about Johnny Harra, it's about Elvis. Let's not lose our grip on reality.
I left out the y lol. I was talking about the people who think Johnny Harra, or anyone else for that matter is Elvis himself. No one will ever fill Elvis' shoes.
Have a great day. I do love Elvis. It's always nice to connect with others who love him too. Johnny Harra really is a great guy and I enjoy his singing.
How can people call themselves Elvis fans when they don't respect Elvis' legacy, instead they go looking for a living Elvis in the ETA's??
If you want to see what Elvis left behind for his fans, go buy a ticket to Graceland. At least the money goes to his only living heirs, and not some wanna be Elvis'.
Some psychotic retards have been posting online that Johnny Harra, and some guy named Gary Elrod have been making claims to be the real Elvis. Just a few weeks ago it was Jon Cotner who they thought was Elvis, now it's Johnny Harra??
It's easy for both fan and tribute artist alike to lose themselves in a fantasy.
People would not recognize Johnny Harra being himself offstage. But when Johnny Harra is onstage, he does an awesome Tribute to Elvis. I think Elvis himself would be proud of Johnny Harra, and his Elvis Tribute Shows over the years. Myself as a long time Elvis fan must applaud Johnny as well. Great job Johnny, great job!!
Johnny Harra is a very talented Elvis tribute artist onstage, because he sounds completely different as himself when he is offstage. Sadly, too many people are making money off Elvis with the conspiracy theory that Elvis is still alive. JH even said so himself that Elvis is no longer with us. So who ever thinks Elvis is still alive needs a reality check and a good shrink.
I was an Elvis impersonator for yrs. I did not have the success of Mr. Harra. I can relate to trying to talk like Elvis, I got real tired of the Elvis jokes due to the sideburns. I think that doing Elvis can be bad psychologically because you can never be him or have that kind of fame, it's very depressing, Johnny should just go ahead and talk in his own voice and God forbid be himself, which I think takes many yrs. to deprogram after acting like Elvis so long.
I agree talks the talk and has the looks. I am 35 years old and when i think of elvis I think of Johnny Harra. a little weak voice wise but still the closest I have seen to Elvis. Thank you for posting this. I seen him in Fort Worth Texas as kid and will never forget it.
A friend of mine met Mr. Harra years ago in Raleigh, NC. He was a patient at a weight loss clinic. He was out at the flea market during the weekend where my friend sold Elvis memorabilia. He said that Johnny was a great guy, very nice. He just never got back to where he was before they told him to gain weight for "This Is Elvis". I've talked to him and his wife on the phone, both wonderful people. I wish he were in better shape so he could rock out again.
Good stuff! Johnny was great. Saw him at the Silverbird in '79 and various other venues in Vegas. Thousands of ETA's have come and gone, but he was one of the best.

Take your meds people!!

Oh well it's good you can see it that way, but if you've got the "x-factor" you can do it without trying to be Elvis.
We still need music :)..
