  • why is the screen so dark on my computer

  • this was dads favorite theme song his brother played it on his bass

  • Boy, do this bring back meomaries

  • @lisany749 It brings back fond MEMORIES for me, too.

  • fish was the best character

  • @Falcon843 My favorite Fish scene was when he complained that the department's computer system said he was dead. Barney says "It's probably a mistake."

    (PROBABLY???)

  • Bring this show back-please.

  • boring show

  • i miss shows like this... low key, effective, didn't try too hard.

  • No way taxi is the best Theme

  • I always remember Abe Vigoda as Fish from Barney Miller (didn't he also have a spinoff series from BM called 'Fish'?) and as Tessio from The Godfather.

  • Hey where's the Twin Towers (WTC) in the NYC skyline? Maybe that's why they changed the opening skyline in 1976.

  • R.I.P BARNEY MILLER

  • Steve Landesberg, who played Arthur Dietrich on this very excellent series, died today from complications related to cancer. Rest in Peace Steve...

  • @rjs2005 Dietrich was funny as hell on the show...

  • @fdnyemt5330

Barney: "Harris! Can you still function?"

Harris (obviously stoned): "Sharp as a tack!"

  • Actor Max Gail, the guy wearing the karate outfit, father use to golf on the golf course that I caddied on back in Michigan. We use to caddy for him during the 80's. He would tell us about his son on the show back then.

  • im huigh

  • kinda ironic that from these opening credits from the first season, only Hal Linden and Max Gail would be around for the entire run of the series.

  • Wish TV Land would bring back this show . Another classic show.

  • A little trivia on Barney Miller. It was the last show to win the coveted Thursday night ratings for ABC until Grey's Anatomy nearly thirty years later.

  • who is Alan Ferguson? Wait.....slow internet connection....Now I see. He also did the SWAT theme too? Anybody listen to Armstrong and Getty?

  • R.I.P. - Allyn Ferguson (1924 - 2010)

    Google BEFORE you ask.

  • Best Television show EVER !!

  • @DammitDrag - No complaints here about that!

  • I love all the versions of the "Barney Miller" theme, but somehow this first one is the funkiest, I think. The other versions are a bit smoother, and done with a bit more care, and that's fine, but the first one, with less fuss about it, still reigns.

  • @WSenator1 this version is the grossest, def

  • ghetto fabulous

  • I rcognized Hal Linden when I lived in LA a number of years ago. What drew my attention to him was the license plate on the car he was driving. It said "FAGEL" which is my last name. I went up to Hal and introduced myself asking the source of the license plate. He was very nice and told me it was a family name to which I said "it is to me too!"

Hal is an actor and as long has he can he will enjoy his work...

  • The part where Wojo did the karate chop, reminds me of the music video "(Oh) Pretty Woman" by Van Halen.

  • I knew Danny Arnold, the exec producer when I lived in LA. My company installed a security system in his car that even protected the wheel discs. Hal Linden and I are distantly related. I saw him at a deli in LA and saw his license plate, it spelled out my last name, I spoke to Hal breifly, he's very down to earth and nice gentleman.

  • @MrBFagel Cool story. Is Hal retired from show business or does he still work. Just curious.

  • FISH is by far the ultimate most best character ever in comedy.. its his facial expressions maan are they awesome!

  • "BAAAH-ney..."

Yeah, you can tell he guzzled his fair share of whiskey and smoked a few packs in his 38 years on the job...

  • man i loved when TV Land used to have marathons of this show.

  • There's a marathon on right now on WGN.

  • yeah charlestonchewy the one where the guy goes"don't ya understand, I'm a werewolf" and then Fish goes "how are ya?" classic AV comedy!

  • The thing I remember most from this series is that they never left the squad room. :)

  • Where exactly in N.Y. was the skyline filmed for the original opening?

  • Looks like midtown Manhattan to me, Empire State Building to the right.

  • I miss Barney Miller. All of the characters were on point. My least favorite character was Dietrich. Fish was hilarious, and Det. Yamana was funnier. Did anyone see that episode "Werewolf" where he thought the guy in the cell was changing into the werewolf and he shouted, "BARNEY!!!!!" That was classic! R.I.P Jack Soo.

  • Dietrich was great but overrated(kind of like Kramer on Seinfeld). I liked Yamana the best but that may be because I'm Asian. Hell, the whole cast was great.

  • I don't remember it being called Barney miller "ON PRIME" ???

    when was that?

  • Global television and Prime in Canada used to add the "On Global" or "On Prime" monicker to their shows to make damn sure you knew it was on their networks. Luckily theyve stopped this stupid, selfish behaviour.

  • They sill have this this stupid, selfish behaviour -- but now they call it a bug.

  • local affiliates often put their logo on old shows when re airing them

  • this song should play when i walk down the street

    (:

  • @Cheetos143 Holy Shit...by far the best coment I've ever read on Youtube. Simple and to the point. Imagine that bass pluckin' and slappin' as you go down the block!! Mah man!!

  • @Cheetos143 Lol,me too. Me funky. . .

  • @Cheetos143 ha ha ha ha yes it should

  • @Cheetos143 thats some funny shit brotha

  • I always liked this tune especially the tasty guitar licks...anyone know who would be playing on this??

  • Great post. I was telling my band (young cats) how bad ass that theme is and they were like "What's Barney Miller?" Now I can send it to them. I still feel old tho...

  • The bass and the drums are killer on this theme. That song really speaks to what NYC was back in the 1970s-early 1980s.

  • best theme ever

  • the original. the darkest - like the city in the early 70s.

  • this is the heaviest theme song version..
