Seriously, don't hate, but just look....... look at tyson's flat footwork, his telegraphing of his shots, his lack of head and upper body movement, and his willingness to sit in the pocket and hug. Compare this to Berbick etc. Tyson got lazy and was on his way out.
@Barabus69er You don't seem to understand anything about boxing? His flat footed power punching combined with his feigns, counter punching, side to side, ducking and diving at speed and weight transfer onto hooks and uppercuts were deadly. He was very fast for a real natural heavy weight and made great fighters look bad! Tyson in this form would knock out almost any heavy weight fighter as quite simply they just couldn’t take his power!
@Barabus69er Tyson didn't get lazy, just forgot his teachings from Cas,Rooney and etc., and then with Don King controlling him telling him all the nonsense and bad advice, it was the beginning of his down fall. Tyson was very capable of still fighting the way he used to back in 85 and early 86 but wasn't pushed and didn't
16 punches in 14 seconds against Thomas. Tyson was the greatest because of the great fighters he had to fight against. Thomas, Berbeck, Tucker, Smith, he retired them all.
What's always been amazing to me about the Tyson/Tucker fight was the pace of the action. Could you imagine any heavyweight fighter today keeping up with that ferocious pace? After 11 hard rounds, they came out for the 12th round and fought like it was the first. The Klitschkos are gassed after 4-5 rounds of only throwing 20-30 punches. They wouldn't stand a chance.
Gotta hand it to Thomas, he took some of the best shots Tyson ever threw and did all he could to keep from going down. Just one of those punches would have knocked out any figher with a lesser chin.
I dont know is it just me or did the mike tyson tony tucker fight not look so hard for mike i mean he was well ahead on points even the judges knew that he had no problem i think the fame distracted him in the begining and he came on overly exited idk maybe its just me well anyways check my page out for some cool more videos
Tony Tucker was another fighter Tyson fought who was as tough as they came. I've heard alot of people say there were no competitive boxers during Mike's era. Clearly not the case.
I felt so bad for Tucker, given he broke his left hand on that massive uppercut on Tyson's chin. That, and Don King robbed him of most of his prize money after this fight. Tony's career was never the same. Drugs, drinking....but, the good thing is he got clean. Tony still feels he could beat Tyson had his left hand not shattered. I doubt it. :) But oh well. Had Tony Tucker defeated Bruce Seldon......it WOULD have been Tyson vs Tucker II...and perhaps Tupac doesn't get shot.....hmmmm. ;)
@narvas562 You make a good point. Under Cus' training (Led by Kevin Rooney after Cus died), Tyson was throwing punches in bunches. I call it an accumulation of numbers. When that BS "black power" gang that Don King ushered in around 1989, look at Tyson's fights: Against Frank Bruno, his punches came in 1-2 bursts. Not 2-3-4-5 punches. Those idiots in his corner kept feeding him BS about "Man, Mike! You're a one-punch-knockout artist" Mike swallowed the poison. Career = flushed.
If you look at some of the guys Tyson fought, Thomas, Tillis, Tillman, Douglas, Holyfield knocked all those guys out too, well obviously Tyson lost to Douglas
Tyson is GREAT but Ali wins stoppage on the 11th or decision against Tyson... I lean more stoppage. The only thing is Tyson with Kevin Rooney sometimes is under estimated against Ali when people discuss it. Ali must NOT get hit with anything good vs K. Rooney Tyson, because against this Tyson if you get stunned that could be it and Ali has never been attacked the way he will here... Tyson is a little better than Frazier. Ali can make too many adjustments he would find a way to beat Tyson...
between tyson or ali forget the video game who do you think would win in their prime me personally ali I think he would of known how to stay away from tyson while killing him with the jab
....i say tyson. in his prime dude wuz a monster. he could take a punch and knew how move his head and dip punches. but, i give u dat. ali wuz the smartest and fast boxer ever. its possible he could have found a solution .
i think tyson would beat ali maybe not k.o coz ali had the best chin. tyson is a better version of jo frazer.. frazer gave ali lots of trouble..i think tyson would be to fast strong and powerfull for ali
Ali, pre-Vietnam draft issue, would have beaten Tyson any day. Sonny Liston had as much power as Tyson, though not the hand speed. But he was craftier than Tyson. Ali neutralized his power, and massively powerful, and dangerous Cleveland Williams. I'm a big Tyson fan from back in the day. But Ali with his foot-work, hand speed, 83" reach to Tyson's 71" reach. No chance. Buster Douglas had the formula: Tall, fearless, and committed to the jab/straight cross.
ok listen dlaetre i dont want to say the opposite but listen ali is fast as hell tyson is fast and powerfull remember ali never been hit so hard like that he has never felt anything hit him that hard thats why i think tyson will win tyson will duck and go in one hes in tyson will attack his body when ali feels that crazy punch in his body trust me his hands are going down and then once his hands are down forget it u know the rest... so tell me wat u think
holy shit..Thomas took a motherfucking amount of blows and was still standing till he was KO'ed...I wish we could see the same attitude in the current heavyweight division...

Thomas is still standing out of sheer power of will.... or his brain damage lost him the ability to actually fall for a while.

most of the great fighters throw a series of punches 2-3-4 hit combos. Thomas is barely throwing any combos
