  • Toomp Been Puttin it Down Since The 80's ATL Legend

  • toomp is sick...classic beat

  • By far my fav DJ Toomp joint ever...

  • j03tv if u can take a piece of someone elses music with out obviously biting it and make it your own then we can listen to you. bt in my opinion sampling is alot harder than creating a melody out of thin air

  • if it aint sampled it aint no fun.

  • @CAallday209 i agree LOL

  • lol

  • while you have a point... its still sounds good.

  • Whether you sample or not, the focus should always be on making music with feeling...

  • toomp alwayz got da playa beats

  • preemo and pete rock have made classics within this decade there just not as hot as toomps beats -- and toomp uses the sp1200 and mpc60 and asr 10 and a fantom -- pete rock uses the mpc 4000 now wich is wack , and preemo uses the mpc 60 and s950 but preemo tends to use the same drum patterns , he just switches the kicks and snares

  • sick beat

  • benzino sucks dave mayes' dick

  • 5* dats my favorite track off american gangster

  • wow he uses an asr 10

  • love da beat just hate jay-z

  • reason my mistake

  • no one said he was wack or better than anybody -- i just commented on what equipment he is using -- sp1200 (in the rear) asr 10 , mpc 60 , reaper ....

  • hmmm very interesting toomp is using the akai mpc 60 as a sequencer for the asr 10

  • WHAT? thats crazy. he is def a better producer than ye

  • Another question? Did Toomp do this track as a "work for hire" or did he get the 20k plus publishing royalties?

  • This track is one of my favs off the AG al. I just wish that on these beat making vids, they would actually break down the elements of the beat, and hit some drum pads, play some keys, etc.

    DOWN SOUTH!!!

  • I feel you on that. A lot of it is sampled though so you won't see that on certain beats.

  • I'm curious to what the payment was to Toomp for the beat?

  • 20 gs

  • y dint kanye produce anything?

  • LUV DIZZZ

  • ooo yea i got proof

  • what proof?

  • It seems everybody gots an ASR. I probably needs ones of thems toos.

  • he also did valley of death for rick ross....need that beat tooo

  • @SNEAKSRUINMYLYFE

He also produced "What you know" and "I got your back" for T.I. dont sound nuthin like those tracks... he versatile

  • @SNEAKSRUINMYLYFE Well kanye west and dj troomp produced cant tell me nothing

  • @jordan10103 really? i had no idea? -__-

  • toomp needs to switch up his drum kits.. lol

  • Tell a platinum producer how to produce... you must be an idiot

  • he has that triangle noise or whatever it is in all of them..including all of the ones in the comment above i believe and jeezys-i got money, but its still tight

  • swizz beatz does that alot you hear the same sample in alot of his tracks

  • its not a triangle its a ride

  • this goes hard

  • DJ Toomp been shelvin out hits for a minute..he gave t.i some classics..and kanYe..he's a beast

  • Track is FIRE!!!

  • Whooooooaaaaa! Benzino, where'd that guy come from?

    Severe Poetry

  • THAT BEAT IS STILL SO DAG ON HOT!!!

  • that beat go so hard!!!

  • I like that mpc60 !!!

  • that dude look like benzino

  • it is benzino

  • toomp love usin dat chain clank in almost all his songs, shit bangin tho

  • That was a cold song on American Gangster. I couldn't believe Toomp produced it till I read the credits.

  • nice bass :)

  • Not weed ... Cali Bud ... Thats that west coast shit

  • where?

  • i mean, wher's the weed? what time?

  • 1:37 - 1:42 ... Its on the book ... broke down

  • What you are doing is called spam.

    And it's extraordinarily rude....

Just to let you know, if you post shit like this no one wants to go to your page because they already know it's bad....

They know because you think doing shit like this is cool,

    it's not....

  • is that the mpc60?

  • Dj Toomp knows what his doing. hes one of my favorite producers. that asr 10 sounds clean, so does that mpc 60II.

  • I get chills every time I hear this song. It is sooooooooooooooooo freakin soulfull!!!!

  • i kno me too, its crazy!

  • seems like he uses the asr-10 to chop the samples on the mpc to sequence. He probably zone chopped the beat on the asr-10 to speed it up. Nice

  • is that weed at 1:42?

  • DJ Toomp is one of my fav producerzz

  • that ASR-10 is fuckin clean

  • Yea wen he waz just playing wit the keys on da ASR, that shit sounded like it could be a whole other beat he could make using that same sample

  • word

i was just thinkin that too bro

  • plus an ensoniq asr-10

  • Shame I'm from Boston and I said the same thing. lol. No friends out here if they ain't on the payroll.

  • That beat is nice, it kind of reminds me of UGK/Outkast international players anthem

  • Toomp and Vince Carter could pass as brothers.

  • LMAO! true, very true

  • Great track, Great album.

  • I was like is that benzino lamo!!

  • i said da same shyt... hahaha

  • soo inspirational

  • crazy beat haha i love his signature quarter note ride cymbal

  • WHAT KINDA BEAT MACHINE IS THAT?

  • That is one of the older MPC's. It is the MPC60II (MKII). It came out about 1990. It's predicessor was the original MPC 60. DJ Toomp's looks like he may have a makeover probably done the Forat in Cali.

  • nah...he didnt get it makeover...cause i have an original MPC-60...and its the same look...

  • The Machine that you see is the MPC60 MKII. This machine came out about 2 yrs after the orig MPC60 in 1987 which I bought my senior year of high school later the MPC60 MKII thought they made some changes but only added a headphone jack. The orig MPC60 did not have a headphone jack. Toomps MPC is Modified. I know this because I work closely with him and some of the mods he has are (1) all of the specs of the MPC3K including the 4 banks, exp sampling time of 3K, seq of 3K and screen.

  • you dont work with toomp

  • MPC 60

  • got that Roland Fantom in there too

  • extraordinary figures..im an extraordinary nigga

  • needlz used this sample for playaz circle and ludacris, in my opinion, neddlez beat was better

  • this beat makes me wanna fill the room with weed smoke nah mean

  • yah mon feel de vibes

  • one of the hardest beats

  • crazy song!

  • Say HELLOOOOOOOOoooo

  • fuck dis shit...i wanna see him make dat buck shit like for pastor troy

  • I didnt know toomp made that beat.

  • erywhere got beats...south style of beats is just wats in now bro

  • I guess I agree, even though I tend not to like what they're doing, they've stepped up their game and getting their names out there. South does have some good shit coming out now especially that No Matter What track from T.I. That shit has so much feeling behind it...

  • Dats dope mane

  • Damn he had that ish hella chop'd up!!!!!

  • DJ Toomp is my nigga

  • He is one of my best

What You Know and some others in T.I., and this one also I really love it

  • it is the MPC 60....the classic!!!

  • what kinda drum machine is that?

  • Akai Mpc 60

  • I now understand how that song felt like a TI beat

  • man, this is one of the hardest beats on the whole album.

  • Aside from the useless sampling arguments....

This was my favorite production of 2007...seriously! Everything at the beat is money.

  • is that benzino?

  • Fuck this man I heard Playaz Circle rap on a beat using the same sample man at least 2 years before American Gangster dropped

  • you sound like a true hater..... get a life

  • both Jay and Fab killed the beat

  • not only that most stick to it be
