@SRVisGOD1 I know what you mean. I discovered him in College. My life hasn't been the same since. His music is a reservoir of intense and honest inspiration
You really don't know music, don't you. You really don't... "The Rising", "Magic", and "Working on a Dream" -- I look at those 3 albums as a trilogy. They all serve the same purpose. They're music is so powerful now, and the time he made the albums was incredible. The melodies, lyrics, etc.-- he hasn't written like this since "Born to Run." Think about that, man.
All you loser haters out there will NEVER amount to anything, so go fuck yourselves. Bruce has something intangible to you - A very deserving successful career, and a great band who happen to be lifelong friends.
uhmm okay, pal.. first of all, that super bowl was just a waist. Justin Timberlake? Janet Jackson? are you kidding me?(The topless Janet was nice) BUT at least this year they got a respectable, legendary performer. obviously Springsteen isn't your type of music, but come on.. really..
Those first few comments apparently come from individuals who just don't have a clue as to what transpired the previous 40 years of Bruce's career. If you don't have anything intelligent to say - good or bad - then it is probably better not to show your ignorance. There isn't a harder working musician than Springsteen and his band. He out performs anyone half his age and if that enables him to make millions of dollars - well good on him
Springsteen's Super Bowl Show didn't hold a candle to last year's Tom Petty extravaganza. It took 100 musicians to sound half as good as Petty's band.
Tom Petty?! He was WEAK!!!!... oh my god.. Springsteen totally buried Tom Petty.. I was bored out of my mind during last year's half time show.. Petty could barely strum his guitar
He's a fraud for getting to a point in his career at which he can make good money? This is like calling rappers sellouts for moving out of the 'hood when they can finally afford it.
I think he was a fraud way before he started making alot of money. He was a lazy beach bum from Jersey who never held down a serious job in his life but sang songs about 'the working man'. Also, If you look at the liner notes to his live concert from 75-76 in the UK, there are 2 whole pages that he has to credit other artists with the melodys to his songs. his whole style is an affectation.
I see your point, but I don't expect entertainers to be real characters. Springstein's "average Joe" is no more real than Marylin Manson's androgynous freakshow and Dr. Dre's gansta tough guy. They're characters out there to sell an image and make music. For you to expect authenticity from Bruce is as unreasonable as goth teens expecting it from Marylin Manson. They're entertainers, not politicians.
The average joe thing isnt an act thing for bruce, in as much as he is allowed he tries to live a normal life, he drinks in local bars, he picks up the kids from school, he has halloween parties for all the neighbours...you dont know your springsteen if thats all you can come up with
I didn't mean to indicate that he isn't an average Joe. But that I have absolutely no expectation that any musician's character portrayed in his music isn't necessarily related to the real person. I don't consider myself a Springstein fan by any standard. I just like some of his biggest songs.
I'm just responding to bvh412's comment that Bruce didn't live the working man's life he sings about. It just shouldn't matter how he lives his personal life. Either you like the music or you don't.
My sister inlaws friend met Bruce at the beach on the Jersey Shore last summer and said he was just great. He took a pic with her and talked a bit. She made the pic into a Christmas card which I thought was awesome because she is in her forties, had a bikini on and Bruce a bathing suit and baseball hat. Yeah, the regularJoe thing is not an act. I know guys that played sofball with him.
He says "golden period" as code for "golden years," you know, looking forward to your Social Security check, another letter from AARP, doctor appointments, naps, blankets, big slippers, warm tea. ;) If he sings "Born to Run" while using a "walker," then I'm out. Also, he didn't use the word "trappings" once. Amazing! ;)
Haha I love men who giggle. Too cute.

Bruce was great. I heard Bruce hates Gridiron is that true? Apparently that is why he did not play the super bowl before.

Here, Let me type something positive. Be happy too.
I had the best time yesterday watching american football with my bestfriend.
Bruce Springsteen gave me the chills, ahh, was he awesome to see.
Why get angry about Bruce, just mind your fuckin business.
Sure, I would mind for some of his cash to pay my bills.
I love you Bruce! You did an awesome job.
