Bravo Bravo Bravo,This is some of the finest pices of Disney animtation that i ever seen in my life and this is some of the reasons why i love inc and cell animtation my whole life.
This and Ave Maria were always my favorite. I especially love the ice and snowflakes! Although I'm surprised they didn't do that for the Nutcracker ballet, since that is more reminiscent of Christmas.
@distastefulreverie the actual story of the Nutcracker isn't actually in Fantasia. Essentially, it's a movie made up of a series of shorts done to classical music. The artists listened to the songs and drew what came to mind.
Absolutely every frame is a picture I would hang on my wall...
Sometimes watching these classics breaks my heart. Raised on drawn Disney animation, it was always my dream to animate a movie and bring to life artwork, to really see a dress I drew billow in sparkling golden wind, and make a beautiful face flutter its lashes, or turn rosy from cold.
We've pulled so far away from drawn animation...it was such a let down for me. At least I can still watch the old classics.
@rememberxjuly I had to look twice to be sure I hadn't written this post myself. I dreamed of being an animator for most of my life. Now that I'm retired, and have the time, the inspiration just isn't there. I still watch the CGI films, and can still see them as art, the images have nothing like the warmth of hand-drawn.
argument over how to pronounce names on a INTERNATIONAL website?.....really?...really? I mean if your going to troll and argue over stupid things, would you people at least be more creative?
I just uploaded a video I recorded of music from the Nutcracker played on piano by 20th century modern classical music composer, Professor Walter S. Hartley. It was his last selection at his final piano recital before he retired from teaching at SUNY Fredonia, March 1, 2000, Adams Art Gallery, Dunkirk, NY.
Even though I've seen many versions of the Nutcracker, this is always the version I think of when I hear the Waltz of the Flower Fairies. But it can't compare with the Tom and Jerry version.
aww the ice fairies were always my favorite, i loved the way they gracefully skate creating lovely swirls of ice! and the sparkling snowflake fairies are a nice touch too! :D
now if only it actually snowed down here..... TT_TT
well, I meant to come here to watch my all time favorite version of the Waltz of the Flower fairies, but now I'm annoyed by this argument on how to pronounce a name. aren't there forums for that? or, like, a debate club?

This is what happens when one alphabet gets ahold of so many countries - in this case Roman. Some people think their countries own the thing and their ways of writing is the only right way. Good to know our country owns our own unique alphabet, it's just so damn obviously idiotic how this can even become an issue. Hilarious. Please stop this if you want to avoid making a fool of yourself, and stop making people care about wrong things about language when they came here to listen to music.
@nargarothfreak666 Don't know why the negative reactions, but, like I said, maybe Tchaikovsky is that kind of name spelled a little different because of the language you are using.
From Wikipedia: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (Russian: Пётр Ильич Чайковский)
See?
Doesn't matter who's wrong or right. It DOES matter the beauty of this song. Don't you think?
Here in Brazil we call "Miguelângelo" instead of "Michelangelo". Anyway, his work is worthy WAAAAAAAAAAAAY beyond the way his name's spelled, isn't it?
@nargarothfreak666 as andynightwing said, the name he got with his birth was Чайковский, and the Romanized version that is most commonly used is Tchaikovsky. I have never in my life seen it spelled Tsjaikovski.
@nargarothfreak666 Чайковский is cryptic alphabet: Russian. Tsjaikovski? Sure in Russian but it's Not in English. Please, do you realize what language are we talking in? 'Tsj' just doesn't exist in the English realm, you write like that no one in the English region can read it, is that what you want? Just as 'oi' is read 'wa' in french but 'oi' in English.
@stringcheese0902 sorry to but in on this a couple of months late, but names are capable of changing depending on the language they are being spoken in. Example, if you're name is James and you went to a Gaelic speaking community, they would call you Seamus -why? because that is the gaelic version. I'm not taking this out of history or translators, this information has come from countless experiences while traveling with friends through gaelic speaking communities in Ireland.
@nargarothfreak666 Since I have nothing better to do, let's play around more while listening to dear pixies. I just want to know my limits of making people understand. So yes, let's take for example a gal I know who is named Mirine. Her name is Mirine and it doesn't change, right? Well actually that's not her name because her name cannot be expressed in English alphabet. It can be Mirine, or Meerine, or even Meeline, or Milineh, whatever and they're all fine and they're all wrong.
@nargarothfreak666 Her real name is 미리내 and spelled 미리내 and pronounced 미리내 and that's her real name. So does she write 미리내 when she writes her name in English? No, she writes Mirine, because it's seamlessly English. Now this composer's name is Чайковский. Period. RUSSIAN. That's his real name, as you said. Does that mean we should write it like that in English? No, we write Tchaikovsky because that is as close to how we can pronounce it in English the word Чайковский. Now do you understand?
@nargarothfreak666 Well I don't know much about holland if not at all, so given that you're speaking the truth, good to know. Just, not true in English, and that's what matters here. And I'm sorry even in hollish, names from our country wouldn't be original. We have different sets of pronunciation and alphabets. Again, the Roman Alphabet thing...
@nargarothfreak666 Okay so, THANK YOU, his nam is Pjotr Iljitsj Tsjaikovski in Russian Cryptic Alphabet, thank you really, we didn't know that, good to know, we learn something new and tremendously important, terrific. Just fine. But in English Alphabet, please, I mean how is it even read, Pujotruh Itsy Ts..jai... whatever. I mean do you understand how syllables work? Now I think here, You need to learn something from Us. Otherwise you're just pompous and a face I'll remember Russians by.
And to that dude that's fussing about names, before you go about trying to police people with names, how about learn how to write in English correctly and with good grammar. It would probably make us not find you as laughable as you are making yourself out to be. Sorry.
And to that dude that's fussing about names, before you go about trying to police people with names, how about learn how to write in English correctly and with good grammar. It would probably make us not find you as laughable as you are making yourself out to be. Sorry.
I love when Henry is listening to this on "Punky Brewster" and Betty enters and turns off the radio right before the last five notes. XD He turns the radio back on, but has missed the end and the DJ says, "Yes, it's worth listening to the whole piece for just those last five notes..."
I remember going over to my aunts house when i was little. She had this movie. I always wanted to watch this movie over anything. This part and more was my favorite.
@nargarothfreak666 The name really is Tchaikovsky... if you really want to know check wikipedia or your schoolbook (if you have books in your music lessons!)
I'm nearly 18, I remember watching this when I was younger, and I still think that nothing will ever beat this in terms of its beauty, creativity, and the way it invites children to get to know classical music.
When Fantasia first came out, it was WAY ahead of it's time. People thought it was sacrilegious, despite how well the music and animation fit together (i.e. The Sorcerers Apprentice).
All the kids my age said that this film was boring when it came out. Each to their own, but I thought and still think many years later that it is simply beautiful.
Just when you think nothing could top the fabulous music of "Waltz", along comes Fantasia which adds the icing on the cake--marvelous, magical seasonal visuals that perfectly go with the sumptious music. I love the seed 'puffs' floating down like ballerinas and the fairies stretching/waking up. Disney and his team were geniuses. Tchaivkovsky would have been enchanted.
i watched fantasia all the time as a child, and now i'm making a living as a choreographer. This movie taught me to associate music with pictures, which is the basis of dance. I love Fantasia and I am going to pass on this amazing piece of animation on to my children.
Fantastico!!! Me encanta!

Can you change your name to Tsjaikovski?
it is not Tchaikovski
but a very good good song thanks for the upload!
Cheers!

@nargarothfreak666 Really? I don't know... I just copied and pasted exactly as it was in the movie credits to make it easier to find.
Maybe Tchaikovsky is that kind of name spelled a little different because of the language you are using.
Anyway... Thanks for your comment! =)

@nargarothfreak666 The name really is Tchaikovsky... if you really want to know check wikipedia or your schoolbook (if you have books in your music lessons!)

I'm nearly 18, I remember watching this when I was younger, and I still think that nothing will ever beat this in terms of its beauty, creativity, and the way it invites children to get to know classical music.

and you thought the music and pop culture of today is good and way better than what it preceed...then THINK again!
vintage would always be timeless!

@kevin080592 only master pieces are timeless, thats definition for real art. I liked your comment, but not everything "old" has to be better ...

i always loved this one. The beggining at least. When it gets louder i don't like it that much. I never knew it was tchaikovsky

This film has unfortunately taught us that some films are too innovative for audiences to handle.
