I bought the gift set online, and it was shrinkwrapped and brand new. But for some reason the bonus disc keeps on skipping near the end of the "Evolution and Creation of ET" documentary. Universal won't send me a replacement disc because it's not in circulation anymore. What should I do?

@TheFlamingoKid84 me too. i have the vhs and all the dvd editions including the gift set so now i'm waiting for the blu-ray. i hope it comes with bd-live features. i also wished that spielberg would convert the original to 3D before releasing the blu-ray.

hey man, i placed an order on amazon last friday the 23rd and i got my order today the 30th. i thought it was a pretty fast delivery. but anyways, yeah you are right.. this ultimate gift set is just phenomenal. loads of bonus features. i heard that the original movie in this set only has the dolby 5.1 track. no dts track. in the 2 disc edition the original has the dts audio track, which i also have. but aside from that everything is amazing especially that book. i am a huge die hard ET fan!

you know how ET was re-released before it came out on dvd? well, i'm thinking now that blu-ray is here, that ET the original 1982 release should come back to the big screen in 3D this time and release it on dvd in 3d with 3d glasses and for the blu-ray with second generation features and the ability to chat to other ET lovers online. ET is the best movie ever made.

@Absolutsublime1 also i just wanted to let you know that i re-watched the original ET on my disc 2 of the limited collector's edition today. that's partly why i saw your review today. because i can't get enough of the movie and the special features. i always have to look up et videos and stuff online and on youtube. and i saw this vid. ET is such an amazing movie. i really want this gift set. even though i have the 2 disc collector's edition, this vid makes me want to go buy it on amazon.

about 8 months ago i bought the 2 disc limited collector's edition on amazon. it contains the original 1982 version on disc 2 and the 2002 release on disc 1. i did see the gift pack on amazon. at the time i didn't realize how much stuff was in the gift set. now that you've showed me, i really want it now. ET is just an AWESOME and PHENOMENAL MOVIE! i also love john williams music.

I bought it off Amazon, for around $40 I think. I just checked and merchant sellers on Amazon are selling them new starting at $32. In my opinion it is one of the nicest sets Ive seen.

E.T. was indeed kind of creepy.

You know what, it's probably because of the gritty-looking film.

Like, he's this dark-brown creature and weird voice and the way he moves and such.

And the "old look" of the film itself helps make it looks creepier too. :P

The same effect can be seen in Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. That one totally traumatized me.

It was so simple with no special effects but make-up and a dark film, it put fear into me. XD

I bought it the day it was released; October 22nd 2002 I believe. It is a very impressive set. In my opinion, the book is the main highlight of the set. The full screenplay is in there along with information on the making of the film and a ton of never before seen photos taken while the film was being made. I was just out in cali for my 10th wedding anniversary and we visited a bunch of E.T. Shooting locations. :)

Actually, when I got the 2002 Special Edition DVD, they added a stuffed E.T. .

But not really like a lame childrens stuffed animal, but a quite rigid one, it looks pretty similar to the actual E.T. , except he wears a red hooded sweater with like "25th Anniversary" or something embroidered on it.

Not sure if this was part of the DVD, probably a promo-thing from the store I got it at though.

Thats a sweet looking box set! E.T. is definatley a classic 80's movie i grew up on to. I heard that Ultimate Gift-Set is out of print and rare to find in stores or on-line. Where did you buy yours??

I didnt know this existed either until just recently, it wasnt that expensive honestly but I had to order it a couple times because it kept coming damaged , but this last time it was decent and I was pleased.
