  • she sings her little heart out purely amazing

  • I think this is my favorite song ever written.

  • A women's voice, no matter her looks, you can always fall in love.

  • Now this is real music nowadays, when i watched "Stupid Hoe" i think i literarily got dumber.

  • Every time when i drive in road, i remember this song...

  • @RBM0407 i cant wait until i finally get to drive again, i think this song will make me cry

  • takes me back to a very magical night at the blacksheep in wakefield... if only i had the opportunity to see these guys there again!!!! oh, to dream. amazing.

  • Absolutely fucking amazing. Gives me chills every time i watch this.

  • Damn, I love this song....

  • WHERE'S WILL?!?!?

  • She could make me sleep with a smile on my face :)

  • @ConfusedProud please don't even mention her name

  • That ginger guy with glasses looks like he's on something in every video of theirs!!!

  • The guts it would take to sing a song like this live on stage is mindboggling. And yet she pulled it off flawlessly. Such emotion in this.

  • I love this performance, there's so much emotion in it. So yes they may not be the best singers in the world, but no one can give me shills like they do. I wish they could sing forever like that.

  • Fantastic!

  • really? how do you dislike this?? this is real music, real creativity, and real emotion poured into their performance. anyone that dislikes this is an idiot.

  • the chicks with the violins are hot....hot nasty violin bow spanking babes....spank me hard you sexy minx....harder; harder damnit!....who's your daddy!...whew!..that was fun!....oh...and reginee can belt out a good tune also....sorry they don't let me out much

  • @bozo47p *fap

  • @bozo47p i hate to tell you this, but one of those is a guy.

  • I wonder why he puts the drum on his head? ;)

  • When she covers her face at 4:40. Oh. My. God.

  • When she puts her hands to her head at 3:07 you can just feel her emotion overcoming her

  • I cried.

    Stunning.

  • i hope ke$ha sees this and immediately retires.

  • whoever said she is not a singer... I would love to see you sing. You obviously have no clue.

  • This is amazing...I love it with all of my heart and will always.

  • I actually get tears in my eyes every time I hear this song, its so underestimated! I love it and its personally one of my favourite songs written by Arcade Fire! Such a beautiful, powerful song! And I know Regine may not have one of the best voices, but it must take alot of courage to get up and sing a song you writ about your mother dying! She's so talented and I'm sure her mum would be so proud of her! I couldn't imagine losing my mum! So brave :) <3

  • when she starts to howl, i feel everything!

  • Fantastic, best song eva

  • 4:10... Damn. Just damn. So great.

  • @DrPerki oh my god I just clicked and it took my straight to 4:10 and my eyes started watering immediately

  • @katiedid1023 Exactly. I love these guys.

  • This is just so gloriously over the top - this is beyond singing, going into ACTING!. A reminder of what's lost when you go from theaters to playing before tens of thousands of people.

  • @david02911 and since it personally relates to her, it's not even acting, she's living the song every time...

  • This is the greatest video on youtube.

  • wow! chills! i'm bummed i can never get tickets to see them live!

  • Annnnd I just cried at a musical performance for the first time. Thanks, Regine.

  • AMAZING & beautiful performance, I love the whole ending bit...but what's with the tape? lol

  • I have a major crush on this woman

  • @Edawg15 me too

  • Out of all the (not exaggerating) 100+ live Arcade Fire videos I've seen, I think I can say that this is the crown jewel. Hypnotizing performance.

  • What an absolutely incredible woman.

  • the intro reminds me of dancing in the dark

  • Bjôrk!!!! is joke, she`s so nice , i love this song

  • Where can I find a version that's not live?

  • @xXRubella666Xx

On the album - you won't regret the purchase.

  • @switchfootroxs I listened to an "early version" from their Christmas album and I think I actually prefer the live one (which is rare for me). Both versions are beautiful, though, and I think this is becoming one of my favourite songs by them.

  • @xXRubella666Xx imo Arcade Fire sounds excellent live for all their songs. Although I prefer the studio version on the album for this song, I think the live version is still spectacular. It is one of my favorite songs by them as well. Before,I never really listened to it whenever I listened to the Funeral album - I suppose it was taking a backseat, haha - but one day it caught my attention. The emotion that pours out of this song is captivating and immensely moving. I love it.

  • @switchfootroxs Yeah, the emotion is wonderful. When listening/watching, I can't let myself get too into it or I'll actually cry lol. And you're right - they do sound excellent live! (Lol at your pun.) XP

  • lol youtube glitch they put a dislike button on this

  • From this small venue to Coachella only 6 years later. Amazing band that deserves all the accolades they have gotten and will receive.

  • It's absolutely amazing when a performance is so beautiful and full of emotion that I don't care that the singer's voice is pitchy.

  • omg.......... how come i get into these songs too much....

  • She must have a break down everytime she sings this.

  • Mes amis, vous êtes de la voix libre, de nos plus grands compositeurs et poètes. Longue vie.

  • @fdxavallee Amen. :P

  • @fdxavallee That is beautiful

  • From 4:00 or so on... Goosebumps.

  • @AddisonDog, the whole song...

  • 4:40 ... oh my god </3

  • goosebumps at 4:10 - incredible!

  • they need to play this live again!

this is much better than sprawl 2

  • @gogolplex74 This is an ode to her mother.....sprawl 2 is more vibrant.....still both great tracks.......arcade fire get better and better....ever since i seen them in electric picnic ireland years ago i said to myself, myself they will b the best band of their generation.....and so they are.....

  • it's a beautiful tribute to her mother and a beautiful song, i love it too

  • regine, thanks for sharing

  • the ending was amazing.

  • I love Regine and Win's voices. They aren't perfect, but I think it's the imperfections that truly make them great.

  • I tried covering Haiti and In The Backseat once but I just couldn't do it, not because of the music (I worked out all of the parts), but just that they both feel so personal that it was like they weren't mine to cover.

And the split second of silence before the audience start clapping and they start back up again is just electric, beautiful.

  • Sounds alot like Bjork

  • Beautiful, wonderful, amazing. That's the way it's DONE, singers of the world!! With passion and conviction. It doesn't get any better.

  • They lyrics weren't clear to me the first few times I heard the song, but I always instinctively knew it was about death. I couldn't originally tell if it was alice died or cried. I lost my mother too so the music in this song resonated with me.

  • i had this song on repeat for 3 hours on my ipod then i decided to see if there was any good live videos and here i am:)

  • Arcade fire's music always makes me emotional to a degree. i will always listen to them and never grow tired of randomly crying or laughing or suddenly get depressed for 3 minutes. i love this band

  • It's so beautifully expressive

  • I agree Somonistic

  • wow that was a brilliant Live performance of this song. Thanks Regine

  • Arcade fire stod up for Palestine!

  • esta canción puede ser más hermosa? no way

  • Arcade Fire - simply awesome.

  • I can relate to this song in very deep and emotional way. This song is about how Regine's mother died in a car accident and how Regine has a fear of driving and can't move on. I really know how she feels. I'm only 14 yrs old, but I understand the pain and suffering a person can go through from that because I lost my father in a car crash when I was 12, the thing is, I was in the car as well and I still can't get in a car without having flashbacks. This is more then just a song to me.

  • @roxikitti2 Your story just broke my heart. I only Googled it to hear it but I didn't know the background, or yours. The song became so much more devastating with that knowledge. I hope you remember your dad in a happy way. Lots of love. x

  • @nathaniellejones the same just happened to me, now im sobbing :'(

  • I don't understand how these 20 people can dislike this song ! I mean, it's possible that it's not your kind of music, but this you just can't dislike! It's heaven in your ears

  • shivering

  • such a beautiful song...its simply awesome...

  • Her voice is the definition of bittersweet. Like Neil Young or Tom Waits, it shouldn't work, but it does.

  • gives me goose bumps...

  • I love this song, when it comes to the end when she starts wailing then it sounds just like crying to me. Whenever I sing this song I start crying. There was a moment in my life where almost everything was destroyed or lost, physically and emotionally. I'm doing a lot better now, but since then it's felt like I've been a lot more on my own. I guess that's a part of growing up too. But I don't know why growing up is so miserable. It feel like I've been learning to drive too since that moment.

  • how does this only have 135, 085 views?

  • wow that was amazing.

  • I love her on the SNL "sprawl" but this song is brutal. Cmon people. It sounds great recorded but the live vocals are a notch above high school band practice. Is she trying to imitate Bjork?

  • one word: epic

  • 20 people have been in an arcade on fire.

  • whaouuuuu. Quelle émotion cette chanson

  • Off the scale of excellence.

  • her stage presence is unbelievable.

  • It makes me really sad that I'll never be able to see Arcade Fire perform a song in their prime, like this.

  • @BeatlesWooHoo I saw them live over the summer. Believe me, they are still strongly in their prime.

  • @Jake1993x as did I. They're still really really good, the best band to see live as far as I'm concerned. But I still wish they would play a smaller venue now and again.

  • @BeatlesWooHoo this statement is ludicrous, did you see the Unstaged stuff?

    come, now.

  • I love the raw emotion in her voice in the crescendo of the last chorus. It seems so genuine and vulenrable. One of the few songs that can make my eyes well up and feel what she's feeling.

  • this is the greatest song to play on guitar and sing it. the chorus is so addictive.. the ohhHHhhHhHh my whole life , ohhhhHhhh Ive been learning to drive and so on, great song.

this band needs to stay away from airplanes. please

  • Anybody else have a major crush on her??

  • a lot pitchier than the studio.... i guess theres more emotion but it's not as good

  • @imayellowfellow She has a really unique voice. I thought it was just as good as studio, if not better b/c it was live. Personally, i love her.

  • Oh Regine :')

  • Man... this is real music...

    Fuckin' perfect voice!! :)

  • this is my favourite song of Arcade Fire...always makes me cry...

  • o. m. f. g. what a tearjerker... so much emotional context... b e a u t i f u l composition. arcade fire is a true force of nature.

  • My family tree is losing all its leaves

    Wow

  • there's just so much. it's beautiful

  • there's just so much

  • One of the most underrated & underplayed tracks from "Funeral."

  • MINDBLOWING !!!! THUMBZ UPS!

  • Wonderful.

  • To those 20 dislikers: your genes are polluting the pool. Kindly jump off a bridge. Humankind needs nothing to do with you.

  • SO EPIC!!!!!!

  • awesome - inspiring - beautiful - soul turning - heart wrenching.

  • i decided to listen to this song while driving around a beautiful part of my town... very hilly, lots of mountains... i was driving up this one mountain and as i reached the top of it and the world opened up and there was a magnificent view of trees upon trees and hills upon hills, the song peaked and regine wailed (at about 4:06). i have never experienced anything that made me feel quite like that. it was a defining moment in my life. i'd never felt so joyous

    this is REAL music.

  • @rareflorence i hate fags to

  • @rareflorence This song should have made you stop and cry your god damn eyes out. You have no idea what it is about do you?

  • @simonistic i'm aware what it's about. it's the feeling the music gave me that made me feel joyous, not the actual subject matter

  • @rareflorence Music that sparks any kind of emotion is quite rare nowadays isen't it :D

  • That's what music is all about...

  • I really ignored those things, I'm sorry for her mother. But, artistically speaking, she hasn't got a beautiful tone of voice or, at least, her voice is not like the kind of voice I consider of high level.

  • @MsAxel11 She's not a good singer. Nor is Win. Their best singer is probably their touring violinist, Marika Anthony Shaw. But that's kind of the point. Their voices aren't perfect. She sings how she knows to sing, and she sings badly tactfully. She puts a massive amount of emotion into every word. You can feel it. And I think that makes her a great singer.

  • @Simonn8699 Great job with the oxymoron you fucking idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @Simonn8699 You're wrong. No one can sing perfectly forever. They were awesome singers, and still are. They've changed their way of singing a lot, but it's still good. It has nothing to do with the amount of emotion they put into their words. There isn't a standard perfect voice, and there isn't a standard perfect way to sing. Everyone's different, and this is their style now. You can't say someones not a good singer and then say they're great. That's stupid.

  • @Simonn8699 They can work with their voices. Some people can't.

  • @Simonn8699 So you're saying she's not a good singer, she's a great singer, gotcha.

  • @Simonn8699

And also imagine their voices "fixed" with autotune and quantiesed beats underneath!! Horrible!! I love the fine line of pure emotion/melancholia and complete loss of control

  • @Simonn8699 You contradicted... you can say she's a ''different'' and good singer, but not that she's a good singer because she isn't a good singer... I think she's a great singer even that much different from what we used to call a good singer.

  • This is real grate! Wonderful interpretation of "music and art" ... But PLEASE her voice is everything except awsome .. -.-'

  • @MsAxel11 You don't even realize how much it probably even takes her to sing that publicly, it's one of the saddest songs I've heard. She wrote it about her mother, who died when she was younger and having to make it through life on her own. The whole funeral album was made to acknowledge loved ones in their lives who have passed. At least she doesn't strip dance with a bunch of half naked men, lip syncing about lollipops.

  • @marketfreshjenjen fucking yes

  • A bit Björk'ish, right? - not a bad thing at all....

  • I love that moment when a song finishes and the audience are completely stunned silent and then everyone goes mental

  • Don't know what to say, holy hell that was powerful!

  • I bet they are sooo good live. I want to see them so bad

  • "my familiy tree's loosing all it's leaves..."

"in the beackseat" its about seeing your older family members dying one after the other. "funeral" is mostly about death but not in a one dimensional way. the album tells about life, the good the bad, the start the end... and hope.

  • this is the best song in the WORLDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Does anyone have any clue what they were doing at the end? Some of them died with tape around them as a result of over-orgasm to their own music, and then the guy put the drum on his head and walked off.

  • @xylonisawesome yeah they wanted to show how all were connected with the music and it was basically a bondage thing between the band. With the drum on the head shows how he was in his own world for that moment and didnt want anyone on the "outside" (the audience) to interferer with his moment.

  • I have to watch it more times, cause I still think it's exaggerated and gaudy.

  • It is so fucking amazing!!

  • This song is beautiful. I cry everytime

  • what the crap is up with all these people who say TAF is unoriginal? i listen to tons of music and i have never heard anything like them. they are amazing, one of the best bands i have ever heard. they know the meaning of art, something most people only know in their dreams.

  • @CloudZ21 i agree i have never heard anything like this band before and their music is incredibly powerful the emotion is strong...

  • ……. Thanks for the heads-up, Lori, & thank YOU, jfar23, for the upload. Stellar band, aren't they? Yoss! ~ (•8-D

  • So greats... so emotional and lived... this isn't music... this is art

  • @losmartesalsol Music is art.

  • @losmartesalsol ..................-_-

  • So refreshing to hear her sing without autotuning. Makes it so much deeper. So compelling. Beautiful work
