  • Realest shit ever put in ah film. talking strate sense.

  • @nowaitbro I'm a recovering addict and you pretty much hit it on the head. As for the second part "That which starts bitter ends sweet," It is terribly hard to quit the drugs.. but life is so much sweeter without them.

  • Favourite scene of all time, out of any movie....

Whats the song in the background?

  • deep shit, someone care to poste a analyze?

  • @killzone10 i think what johnny is saying is that drugs start sweet and end bitter with death or disease, but it is the beauty they possess which keeps him attached to them. the painting also possesses a visual and psychologically charming beauty, which johnny wants to keep even though the outcome of him keeping it is that his stepfather would kill him. both drugs/cigs and the painting start sweet through beauty and charm, and both have a common outcome, which is death.

  • now, please, pass me a light

  • Best monologue in the whole film.

    Bitter sweet truth.

  • the thing about the smokes is absolutley true><

  • @HousWaus1 Surprised you never got any votes for that comment. Yes it is true and more fool those that still smoke.

  • Beautiful scene

  • YOU FUCKING IMMIGRANT!!!!!!!

  • or (the) movie is sick

  • That was my favorite scene.

  • What the hell is he playing? I need to find the god damn sheets somewhere.

  • hes actually a junkie, and a genius. In the movie that is. Junkie big difference. IT means there less damage done to brain and body and he has a much better chance at getting clean.

  • johnny quid is the fucking bomb

  • such a great movie, and such a greater director

  • ''That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that which bitter ends sweet'' Great line....

  • can't believe most of my friends missed this movie... this one hell of a movie... hope they make the second part

  • shooie can u write the words he says???

  • in the real live Tony (Johnny Quid) smokes? :'O

  • @jjheadcharge they are saying that drugs starts sweet but ends bitter and that they are trying to kill you thats why they say about dull black and white smoking kills so they are trying to get a point across a big point

  • @MegaCarter99 try again dumbass.....

  • oh you are something special Mr. jhonny quid

  • what is the song he's playing on the piano? someone please???

  • video is too thin wtf`?

  • So is there any meaning to what he's saying or are they just ramblings of a crackhead?

  • wondering what he´s playing on the Piano...sounds epic in this scene, doesn't it?

  • best scene ever.... sitting right now with bottle of wine and cryin` cause the beauty of this scene is unthinkable ....

  • The infamous paradox, the most intelligent and creative of us are usually also the most haunted by personal demons. Mozart, Van Gough, Poe, Hemingway, all geniuses of the first caliber and all haunted by demons that drove them to drink, drugs, suicide and insanity...

  • "I think you've forgotten where you are you FUCKING IMMIGRANT!" looool i love the way he says it, cracks me up everytime...AWESOME MOVIE!!

  • virginia killing sticks

  • Virfina Killing Sticks ...duh

  • great movie. good job buy guy ritchie

  • great scene

  • I <3 Toby Kebbell! He's so gorgeous!

  • eloquently put marcushi

  • This guy or the one who's Thandie Newton's boss that got his lucky painting stolen by Quid would be the perfect Riddler for Nolan's 3rd Batman movie. Quid would also make a good Black Mask or Hush.

  • Exelent scene

  • ...RESPECT!

  • Is the tune he is playing from anything actually from anything??

  • @snapegus The songs called Bankrobber by the Clash

  • I love this scene... One of the greatest scenes I've ever seen.

  • I'm not a smoker, but I'm sure this scene made a lot of people who do smoke have a cigarette.

  • @Bojaxs yer right mate, i'm havin a cigar now.. pure pleasure

  • Look at my videos Ive got a tutorial for this melody even if I dont know how its called. Its close to this.

  • Great movie overall but while watching it I still couldn't help asking myself, "Why in the hell is a billionaire transferring millions in cash rather than electronically?"

And especially after he got ripped off the 1st time, why did he do it again?

Still a great movie overall though, even despite that plot weakness.

My favorite scene was Cookie's monologue..."I love that man Johnny, he's what you call class."

  • @jugganaut35 haha! I never thought of that.

  • ...probably because then nobody can see where the money goes to/find the account(s) it went to if there is no electronical account trace. Later on the receiving end might use the money for several bigger acquierements (houses, cars,...) or split it over several accounts so it can't be traced back to where it came from...

Just my idea, would make sense, I guess...

  • because the money is used for illegal stuff. if it would be legal what he is doing, he wouldnt need that gangster idiot and could do everything himself and THEN he would transfer it electronically. easy.

  • I guess it's cause he doesn't want to leave a paper trail. Millions in cash transferred between two known gangasters looks a bit suspicious.

But yeah, got to agree with you that it's an amazing movie.

"you slag! he's pure class he is!"

  • Lol late reply:

The money wasn't just for the big boss. The seven million was to be used to pay off the right people. It's transferred in cash for that purpose, and so that it doesn't leave a trail.

  • its because hes paying for illegal shit.

  • In a different scene the russian is trying to get more money and a conversation about having to hide the money from taxes takes place.

  • do you know wut song he's playing?

  • i love all the movies by guy ritchie this is 1 of my favs

  • do you mean there's going to be 3 movies... for real

  • That is the best new I have heard lol

  • i guess dats y we all smoke

  • I dont smoke!,would you like a dip of Timberwolf,Natural flavor???

  • I also like the seen my daddy was a bankrobber....... nice cant wait for the second part rocknrolla II

  • @kdefinitions Its 3 parter :D

  • Brilliant scene from a brilliant Guy Ritche

  • what song he is playing?

  • Haha, this would be a decent "stop smoking" ad huh? lol

  • f nice movie and 1 of best seen

  • except when he says now hand me a light. lol

  • what song does i play on the piano

  • lenny got clubbed while johnny was peacefully playing his piano.

  • quality scene, love it, i hope they make "the real rocknrolla"

  • wot he says is true they make it look amazing the packaging then the boring black and white message the goverment want to keep it cos they make money on tax and other things

  • fuck u ppl tht dnt love this part of the movie

  • for a crack head he has some interesting ideas. movies is sick by the way

  • @dahuvid because he was educated when little

  • @dahuvid movies "are sick"

  • LOL!

  • Johnny Quid was... the greatest junkie that ever lived

  • @KandiManRavr2k8

i agree with the most of what you say . beside the fact that he hides behind the pleasure of the "smokes and drugs( and also the painting)" rather than give up on which gives him the so called "sweet" per the so called "bitter" he hiding behind what he knows as comfort. rather than what he needs to confront (aka we know who).

  • the bestttt

  • car

  • beauty is a beguiling call to death and i'm addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren...

wow...he talk like hes from different century...that's pure poetry

  • Roden (imigrant) has horrible accent indeed

  • That song is like a breath of fresh air in a room full of smoke. It only makes the whole scene more contrasting. This, I think, is Ritchie's best movie yet.

  • thanks for cutting this clip from the movie and putting it up

  • wat is the name of the song being played on the piano?

  • Hey Hey. What was the name of the packet of cigs in this clip? It looked like REGNANT?

  • What is he saying exactly ?

"...One of your personalities is seduced by the illusions of ???? "

    Thanks

  • Illusions of Grandeur :)

Grandeur meaning that something is of grand quality. Its magnificient. Also means nobility or dignity. :)

  • or illusions of grandeur...illusions of absolute greatness, immortality, power, money

etc,etc,etc.....its a common aspect in the lives of humans....greed

  • ganja by the sounds of it or something

  • Sorry got it right now it was 'grandeur'

  • do you know the song that he is playing??????

  • this scene is class

  • this movie is something wonderful it is

  • Your other personality is trying to draw your attention to the flip side of the discussion, written in boring bold black and white, it's a statement that these neat little soldiers of death and in fact trying to kill you and that, Pete, is the truth. Oh, beauty is a beguiling call to death and I'm addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren. That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that which starts bitter ends sweet. That is why you and I love the drugs and that is also why I ...

  • y esa es la verdd!!

  • embassy regal.

  • This has to be absolutely the best movie ever made.

  • The name of the piano song I BELIEVE is

    "Scenes from Childhood" by Schumann

  • i think is virginia something... if you pay close attention you will find out

  • Here's the Script Guys:

You see that pack of Virginia killing sticks at the end of the piano?

All you need to know about life is retained within those four walls.

You will notice that one of your personalities is seduced by the illusions of grandeur. A "gold" packet of "king" size and with a "regal" insignia. An attractive implication toward glamour and wealth, a subtle suggestion that cigarettes are indeed your "royal" and loyal friends. And that Pete,...is a lie.

  • Your other personality is trying to draw your attention to the flip side of the discussion. Written in boring, bold, black and white is the statement, that these neat little soldiers of death, are in fact, trying to "kill you." And that Pete,...is the truth.

  • Beauty is a beguiling call to death and I am addicted to the sweet siren of its pitch. And that,..is why,..you and I love the crack, and that is also why I can not,.. give that painting back.

Now, please pass me a light.

Oh you are something special Johnny

  • *...to the sweet pitch of it's siren. That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that starts bitter ends sweet. That is why you and I love...

*Oh you are something special, Mr Johnny Quid

  • i pay attention and i dont find the name of this cigarettes

so please if anybodi now the name of this fag please tell me

  • it's Grandier, i don't really know how to spell it.

  • Grandeur.

  • I thought they were REGNANT?

  • Virginia Slims maybe?

  • Regnant.

They kill you, why do you care?

  • @sh00ie "Virginia Killin' Sticks"

  • @sh00ie virginia killing sicks

  • @jetXblast665 sticks*

  • what is the mark of this cigarette

  • regnant, by embassy regal . i think

  • He said he learned to play Schumann's "Scenes From Childhood" for the film but it wasn't used in the end and I think instead the song is an original for the movie.

He said the fingering is basically the same. "Scenes from Childhood" has many parts though, but none are quite like the film's piece

  • I love that piano play, does anyone know the name of the song ? ?

  • Johnny trips to the Gun and Renton from Trainspotting trips to Perfect Day.

  • As much as I Love Rocknrolla, I recently watched trainspotting which came out 2 years before lock stock. It would seem like like Guy borrowed a few stylistic tools from Trainspotting. There is a trip out scene in Trainspotting to a Lout Reed Track and Johnny trips to a Lou Reed song in Rocknrolla.

  • what song of lou?

  • perfect day

  • it's not the perfect day...

    it's the gun

  • ohh i think i was wrong LOl sorry

  • i think souless69 means Gun

  • can sum1 help me out i cant quite make wat johnny says at 1:34

"o beauty is a _____ call to death and im addicted to the sweet picture of its sorrow"

  • oh beauty is a beguiling call to death and i'm addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren.

  • i love this .xx !!!!!!!!!

  • Great monolog, great words all I can say about it...

G.Ritchie on of the greates prodecer in the world

What is the name of the pianosong?

  • G. Ritchie is a genius. This monologue is poetry. Fantastic scene in a very good movie...almost Snatch class.

  • What a great strong scene. Love it, love the movie.

  • best movie scene ever, "That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that which starts bitter ends sweet" i think that is the best quote ever

  • best part of the movie

  • Can som1 tell me what he is acutally talking about?

Is he saying that the good side of ciggeretes or is he sing ciggeretes as a example of how life is or something?

  • hes trying to use personification to compare the cigarette packet with real life, for example, on the outside everything always seems fine but on the other side ,everything is not what it seems

  • Ohhh i see, thanks for the reply

  • In more detail, he's using cigarettes as a metaphor in order to describe his motivation for refusing to give back the painting he stole, and at the same time why they're both junkies, unable to give up the drugs. "Beauty is a beguiling call to death, and I am addicted to the sweet sound of its siren," he says.

He can't give back the painting, or give up the drugs, because he loves the beauty and pleasure they can both bring and that blinds him to the fact that all three might well get him killed

  • *sound should be 'pitch'.

    :P

  • name of the song???

  • So poetic and beautiful.

  • This is one of my alltime favourite films..

.... and this is my favourite scene from this awesome film....

it truely is sex on wheels ;)

rock on Jonny Quid . You are ...."class" .. XD

  • The best movie scene ever

  • what is the name of the piano song.......i love it

  • U.L.T.I.M.A.T.E

  • "You see that pack of Virginia killing sticks at the end of the piano?

  • I think it's a honest realistic film, this is life afterall.

  • i think that's the guy from the divorced.

  • I thought it was a gud movie idk y people didnt lik it.
