k, my theory is that cats chat like this so as to process the visual information differently becuse they do hunt by movement, thus the situation is no longer a hunt scenario.
i dont really think its copying the bird...to me this looks more like 'chatting' which is what cats do when they are watching an animal they want to eat hehe
@scarlet6 yea exactly scarlet, the cat was actually imagining eating the bird, and they do this by grinding their teeth together! damn nature you scary!
cats will bark at birds when they know they can't get to them but they'd like to get to them... LOL . my little female cat will sit up stairs in my bedroom looking at the birds through the glass as they fly up to the suet cages I have hung on the second story balcony
I've seen some say here that cats do this when they want to hunt. your cat didn't have that killer look on it's face, more like a curious look. My cat howls with the coyotes lol! I think cats tend to copy what ever animal they are curious about.
they arent talking . . . *sigh* wow, most cats make this sound when they see somthing they want to hunt. im no cat expert or anything, but im supprised no1 so far has known that. lol wow.
That cat is so cute :)

I beleve that the cat is trying to immitate something the bird would eat so when the bird comes looking for food that cat can catch it.

Such a cute cat...love the chatting to the birds...why is the cat's collar so big? It must feel awfully uncomfortable.

I like how the cat has his or her paw at angle as if to say "oh do go on".

Cat : JACKPOT!
Bird : wtf? No. I'm calling you a fat lazy shit cat.
Cat : I'm going to eat you when i'll get outside .
Bird : Oh no you ain't!
Cat : Oh yes I am.
Bird : No you won't.

Its not copyig the bird. Its just excited, and feeling the natural instinct to hunt. (Though it looks like its glued to its bed xD)
