@ColourMeeGangster It depends on how it's analysed. Canada, during the end of WWII, was the top military power in the world. Afterwards, it remand the 4th most powerful military. With highly technological advanced countries, Canada is near the top, they have the capabilities of becoming one of the most powerful countries in the world literally over night. At this point, Canada is putting most of it's resources into peace keeping so it's military power is not accurately represented in studies.

We don't have a big military because we don't need it. With our tax money, we have free health care. Not a $700 billion annual national defence budget.

When both economy and military are considered, Canada is about the 11th or 12th most powerful country.And nuclear weapons mean almost nothing, we have the knowledge and resources to make nukes if we need them, not that we ever would. The thing with Canada is yes we are significantly smaller population wise then other countries such as Mexico. However in a war bombing missions would be next to useless against us we have such low population density that air attacks would be next to useless your only option then would be a ground invasion and while yes an attacker could take many key cities quickly it would be next to impossible to keep control in a country of almost 10 million square km... guerrilla tactics would win the war.

@SirHungryHippo Canadian soldiers are defiantly not amateur. Canadian soldiers are recruited and have to sign-up which make them "professional" soldiers. Most of Europe has "mandatory nonprofessional" soldiers. When they turn a certain age in lots of European countries they have to put in their 2 years. Japans military has lots of "giggling" women in it. What Canada falls short on is equipment and funding (remember those shitty subs). But the full time soldiers themselves are top notch.

Sure Russia has a big military but much their stuff is sitting aging, and the infrastructure is crap. It's the type of place that if for instance, there was a dead horse on the road, nobody would remove it. Cars would drive around it till it decayed to nothing. Russia is full of corruption and organized crime, which flourished when the iron curtain fell.
and many of the volunteer professional Russian soldiers end up running away or not signing up for another 3 years because many of the higher up officers steal pay.........Present Russia is NOT the mighty Soviet Red Army.

When both economy and military are considered, Canada is about the 11th or 12th most powerful country.And nuclear weapons mean almost nothing, we have the knowledge and resources to make nukes if we need them, not that we ever would. The thing with Canada is yes we are significantly smaller population wise then other countries such as Mexico. However in a war bombing missions would be next to useless against us we have such low population density that air attacks would be next to useless your only option then would be a ground invasion and while yes an attacker could take many key cities quickly it would be next to impossible to keep control in a country of almost 10 million square km... guerrilla tactics would win the war.

Most of Europe has "mandatory nonprofessional" soldiers. When they turn a certain age in lots of European countries they have to put in their 2 years. Japans military has lots of "giggling" women in it. What Canada falls short on is equipment and funding (remember those shitty subs). But the full time soldiers themselves are top notch.

My grampa is retiring from farming this year (he will be 91 this October!). I'm in my early 30s and farm 7000 acres (11 square miles). A buddy of mine I just got off the phone with farms 9000 acres.
