  • Hey jin, im very interested in wing chun, but i have no money to pay for an instructor or to go to a gym. Now for the question, is it possible for me to learn through videos and books?

  • @shufflerindamaking15 knowledge is knowledge, it doesn't matter where it comes from...from books, from videos, from an instructor or from my Tutorial. the important thing is what you do with that knowledge that determines the outcome.

  • @chinaboxer thanks for the response! im gonna treat you like my sifu for now and learn from your tutorials. haha, which playlists should i start with? im gonna try really hard lol

  • very nice, thank you for showing all the little details

  • Hehe, 3 triangles ∆

    ∆ ∆ Triforce Bishes

  • hey Jin, it's my first time starting wing chun and I just want to know, where do

I start? the reason why i'm asking this question is because i have no money for a teacher here in K.C.(especially any good ones). Should I teach myself?

  • @Monk400 i get this question alot, which is what prompted me to make my first DVD instructional, which takes you step by step. i'll let everyone know when it is available. until then keep practicing!

  • I am no martial artist, and don't intend to be, but I can tell you are a good teacher.

  • su lim tao

  • pidgin toes lol!!

    no base

  • @TheCandyMan01 Wing chun = pidgeon toe base.

  • very well said it allowed me to get comfortable withthe stance a lot faster than doing it on my own!

  • This stance is to practice your forms , your body is the first stick this is how you maintain a strong first stick , second stick is shoulder to elbow strong , last stick elbow to fist soft as a blade of grass

  • Jin young is primarily taught by hawkings cheung

  • Why do I have to be pidgin toes wont that compromise my balance and make movement awkward? Please someone respond I'm curious

  • @ipoddish Because it trains your leg muscles antagonistically against each other so you pivot easily within the WC footwork. Also so you can learn to use your hands, feet and breathing separately from each other and comfortably. As well as helps triangulate your body structure for Juen Ma and Biu ma, and regulates proper chi flow.

  • A triangle is the strongest geometric shape.

  • @dakkenly bicycle frames are triangles

  • @sethfan1000000 Yes. Have you ever seen a bicycle frame bend inwards? lol

  • @dakkenly mope

  • i would like to see the part 3. Jin :)

  • You said that there should be alignment from the heels to the base of the neck in a straight line. However, I feel that there is a slight angle from your hips to your neck, almost as if your back is parallel to your thighs, with your neck being exactly in line on top of your heels.

So I am confused. Should we be like this | with are spine straight down, or like \ with are spine parallel to our thighs with but your spine not leaning past your heels?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Do you do seminars? If so I would like to attend. I have been studying Wing Chun for about 5 years.

  • Great stuff. I've had short spurts of training in Wing Chun and sometimes it's hard to find local schools and try to get what I can get.

  • PARLI TROPPO E ROMPI I COGLIONI...MUTO E IMPARA IL WIN CHUNG

  • jin! your face more like DK from tokyo drift~ hahaha :)

  • siu nim tau, sitting is good for the bowels. when i'm feeling constipated i focus on chi. and i try to not use force. and then plop plop. it's a success.

  • Man Jin, I have been around... I am from the Rainier Valley; Beacon Hill; International District; The Hill(s) of Seattle & definitely Downtown... Jun Fan - Bruce Lee Country. I have friends who are Masters of one Art or Sifus of another, how many Art names can one throw (lol)... a Grandpa and father of 5 Martial Artists (3 in Tae Kwon Do & all 5 in Wing Chun Do at one point). I only say this to emphasize that, after watching several of your vids,, I KNOW you are an EXCELLENT SIFU. THUMBS UP!!

  • Sifu, good moorning my names is Giuseppe I am writing from Italy, I want to Know

What's your lineage, style-wing chun Leun Ting, William cheung, Randy Williams

    ecc.ecc?

  • Jin, you out some intelligency and science in this art, thank you

  • Explains it really nice...Thanks...:)

  • Wow! Thanks sooo much! I just went to my first Wing Chun class, having just moved to HK. Too bad my Chinese sucks! So trying to understand the Si fu was a lil struggle... your easy to understand tutorial rocks!! So I imagine i'll be coming back to your vids after each class to figure out what I should be doing.

For example the tilt your pelvis issue took nearly 10 mins to sort... I imagine he doesn't see too many females in his class - he was a lil taken aback by my hip wiggles :P

  • is your Wing Chun Yip Man's lineage?

  • Wonderful :) may I know who your Sifu is?

  • you rock jin! grandmaster potential i would guess. you should give some views on philosophy.

  • @acousticfixation thanks man, but i'll always be a student! when i get more time, i'll post some more philosophy. peace!

  • Searching for instructional Wing Chun videos for beginners, yours seem to be the best so far (from a novice view).

    Thanks a lot.

  • @Grippla I second that... been searching for ages. I'm finally satisfied!

  • Are the any videos explaining the concepts of

    1) lifing up the anus.

    2) breathing technique.

    3) the flow of Chi/ki

    thanks so much

  • it's ving tsun, bitch.

  • YOU ROCK i've seen many videos and i'm astoniched by all your knowledge abou_t your art .....congratulations.You and" hgamer "are the best wing chun teachers and promoters.Much respect.

    bow

  • woah ur very young for an instructor, nice video =D

  • the wing chun we learn is original, our sifu is 3rd generation, there is no tiger style or snake style to our techniques, it is the exact lineage of Ip man himself, however we are taught the wooden dummy techniques, wing chun knives and wooden pole,

my sifu learned wing tsun in Hong Kong, and now has over 200 hundred students in three different dojo's in the UK, i am trying to get him to look at your video's but as stubbern as he is, any differnet wing chun lineage, to him is incorrect lineage

  • I would like to know if the toes must always point inward and where do we put the pressure or support ? toes, heel, or middle. and if you do it right is there suppose to be tension in the lower shin?

  • I've watched a few of these videos and have studies WC a while and I don't understand the relevance of thinking about triangles. I don't understand why your spine can't be held in a normal posture. I also don't understand how arm techniques act similar to a rubber door stop.

  • Very good instruction! Appreciate your generous sharing. :) One question however, when I am sitting into the stance as described, I feel myself sinking into the ground, waist relaxed but my lateral thighs are usually tense. Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

  • your form is very stuctured, however my sifu has the explosive power you are lacking

i can see you are already very good at wing chun and by the looks of it already a pretty good sifu yourself, however no master of kung fu ever stops learning, my sifu at the moment is on his own path of chi searching, check out his old sui nim tau at

, siu lim tao - chrysostomou (youtube)

  • @dmarkey100

yeeeeah his tiger style is better than our snake styyyle yeeeah ..

  • that first triangle is just like reciver blocking in football...thats interesting

  • Hey Jin i'm really interested in self defense since I was there when one of my pals got beaten ( it was just me and him so i couldnt have done anything). I came across many different forms and shapes of martial arts for example jui jutsu, though i was unsure about which one would be most efficient untill i met a guy who had been practicing wing tsun for several years. i have been watching a few of your video tuts but do not know which one is really the first step to practice. please let me know!

  • Thank you very much!!!

  • I think you are a very good teacher.

  • rly great video :D, thanks!!!

  • Great video, correct form is so important at the start, especially the stance.

  • jin, who was your sifu and grandmaster?

  • jin how effective do you think doing the siu nim tao is compared to training with partners and life like apparatus.

  • Both are important.

SLT is more about training your own body. However form itself is not enough. If you want to learn how to defend yourself or how each technique works.

This is where sticky hand, hand drills comes in play.

  • Excuse me Jin im going to be taking a class soon and thats gonna be in 5 weeks. Can i just follow videos of wing chun basics to prepare for classes or what?

  • use my tutorial as a "guide" and a "reference" that you can always go back to. but don't see it as the "truth", that's something only comes from your own experiences.

  • @chinaboxer Then stop saying "Wrong" all the time in your clips and then you will stop contradicting yourself ! You cant have it both ways !

  • @nichlasz Why do you want to prepare for a class? You're going to a class to learn the basics from the very beginning. You don't need to prepare ;) I didn't prepare and i'm doing just fine ^^

  • good video but that "okay" every 3rd second annoys me

  • is that who speak owns this youtube account?

  • o shit wsup jin. its nhan i met you like last monday at sifu alons wing chun school. i was already subscribed to your channel, haha

  • hey man, good to see you here, also make sure to check out my new website at thechinaboxer(dot)com

  • what city are these classes in or which area code?

  • i teach privately at a health club in los angeles which is the 310 area code. it's also on my channel page.

  • thankyou. how much do you charge?

  • i don't charge them, but they do make donations through my website when they can. I also am very strict about training and attendance.

  • hey when i train the SNT stance after a couple minutes my lower thigh, a little above my knee starts to get sore. now i know that is no good for training, i 've tried to adjust my body to get the right balance, but i still get the same problem?

  • it's hard to tell what the issue is without seeing you do it. make sure you don't force the "pigeon toe" or it will put undue pressure on your knees. also read my reply above about forcing your knees in. let me know if this helps.

  • Hey Jin, one question.. about the bottom triangle, how much do u push ur knees in ? Or even more important do u constantly push them in ? .. I mean in a sense of as if u were holding something in between them, like a ball or anything... thanks in advance, your videos are straight up awesome by the way :) peace

  • one common mistake is to "force" your knees in, this is the same as "forcing" your elbow into center. your knees/elbow has to gradually creep inwards in a comfortable manner as you "sit" into your stance or "extend" your elbow out. stay relaxed and keep training and little by little, you'll start to "sink" the knees more and more. keep at it!

  • Thanks mate.

  • yur welcome!

  • Excellent instruction Jin!

  • thanks for your support of my videos. i really do appreciate it. peace!

  • Hey Jin, Do you have a school where you teach?

Or maybe u know a good school in San Diego.

I heard Jing was pretty good? Thx man I would really appreciate it!!

  • we're in Los Angeles. i'm not too sure about WC schools in San Diego, i'll have to ask my instructors. let me get back to you on that. peace!

  • I want Chum Kiu's one too.

    ;)

  • chum kiu and biu gee will probably be available on the website that we're creating. patience!

  • YAAAAAAAAAAAAH! =^D Please please please do them slowly like you did the Siu Nim Tau.

    Thanks Sifu

  • Jin, how does one know one has a good structure? Are there ways or drills to test the structure?

  • good question. whenever you do "sensitivity drills" such as dan chi sau or double hand chi sau etc..you should constantly be testing each others "body structure".

  • Can you elaborate on "constantly testing each other"? Do you mean we should try to push each other to see if we loose our balance? What if one doesn't have a partner?

  • take a look at all my videos "dan chi sau, double hand chi sau" videos. if you don't have a partner then you can practice on a mook jong.

  • Your teachings are simple and effective that makes it good for everyone, keep it up! Master Jin can you tell me some workouts that can help this structure like a squat or something that uses gym equipments i really appreciate your efforts in making these videos you rock!

If you want to do your duty properly, you should do just a little more than that. -Bruce Lee

  • i like that quote! nice. i'll put out a new video on "exercises" that i do to enhance my martial arts training, in the near future. it's on my "to do" list. take care and peace!

  • the point of bending the knees inwards is to be relaxed isit?

  • the "bending and sinking" of the knees keeps you "rooted" to the ground.

  • Hi,

I'm developing a wing chun website and have linked to your vids. Hope that's ok. Have a look, any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dan

  • The address is sillimtao com

  • Hey Dan, really nice job! i enjoyed it alot. thanks for the link and all the great info on your site. take care and peace!

  • Cheers Jin, looking forwward to the next video!

  • thanks for your support!

  • i like the third triangle because an on comming force goes to the left or right of the triangle but the point of your tri angle is still aimed in toward the target... bit like forward energy in chi sau... when some one push on ya arm the force goes through ya arm and feet and into the ground and ya are able to maintain good structure because ya cant push over the ground ect then when the attacker takes their hand away the force projects back bit like a spring chears and thanx for posting

  • great! i like the way u explain it

cool pants, or whatever u call it, lol

  • thanks! they were Abercrombie sweats that i just cut at the knees. lol. peace!

  • actually it helps your student focus also because deeper in them they responding to your OK with a okey or yeah subconsciously

  • Kool, I'm subscribing. Will you be instructing with a wooden dummy? How about stretches too?

  • i like these ideas and will put them on the list of videos. peace!

  • thank you unco same

  • Thank you, love your videos.

  • this is really great lesson, but it is extremly funny how he sais OK every 5 seconds =)

  • haha..yea i do say that alot. it's been a habit for a very long time now. when i say "ok" it's unconsciously keeping me focused. it's not so much for the students but for me to make sure i'm not wandering off the subject. lol..good job catching it!

  • good job

  • Great job Jin, this helps alot~! 5 star~!

  • no problemo. spread the word so that others can benefit from them as well! peace.

  • Hey Jin,

Thanks for the tips! This is actually very helpful because I'm fairly new to Wing Chun.
