Bah, I hate having a X-fi sound card sometimes, I've found the only way for me to enable stereomix, is if i use my onboard soundcard, not the x-fi card
@ProAudioSurf Yeah. Same here. When I made this video I was on a different PC with another sound card. I used to use this a lot but now on the new PC the sound card doesn't support stereo mix. It turns out you can enable it by connecting your microphone and headphones output. I haven't tried it yet though.
@SergeantDan1 You mean that once you start recording the sound mutes? You should check the playback devices panel and see if you've selected the speakers and not something else.
I guess it depends on the sound card you are using. If Stereo Mix doesn't appear it's probably because your computer or software is different then the one I used. If that's the case it can be easily fixed by going to the manufacturers website and finding the support part of their page. They should have explained the differences. To find the manufacturer go to Control Panel> Device Manager > Sound. Their you'll find all of the installed sound devices.
Ok. It might be because you have turned on another recording device. Try disabeling all other devices and see if Stereo Mix comes up. If that doesn't work it's probably because the sound card you are using is different than the one in my video. And if so it won't work. I'm going to search for other methods and if I find ways for other sound cards I'll post it here. I'm sorry if it didn't work for you.
No problem. Thank goodness it worked for someone. By the way you can use it to record your favourite songs rather than trying to find a place to download them. That's what I do.
You don't need to change the name or delete the video, just put an annotation in the beginning and something in the description like "This may not work for all versions of vista" or something
Oh... It might be because you're not on vista. If you are then you can try to right click and select: show disabled devices. If it still doesn't work I don't know.
Thank you so much sir, This helped alot !

It must be because you have a different sound card than mine. If that's the case you might need to download an update for your software.

Sorry if it didn't work for you.
penevnick 2 years ago
it actually doesn't work for most vista, that's only for the certain sound card that you have
stonewall176 2 years ago
Oh, I see. In that case it might be better if I delete the video or change it's name. What do you think?
penevnick 2 years ago
You don't need to change the name or delete the video, just put an annotation in the beginning and something in the description like "This may not work for all versions of vista" or something
stonewall176 2 years ago
Yes. That's an excellent idea. Thanks for the advice.

It might be because you have another version of Windows. This guide is only for Vista Ultimate. Sorry I didn't mention it.
