The main reason why the older don't vote for the democrats and the younger do is that the young don't know any better. They don't have jobs or have to take care a of a house or families or pay taxes. The old see what high taxes and regulations do which is why they are against the democrats. They are wiser and work harder. Also, the young don't know the issues so they don't vote for midterm elections they only vote for the president. History shows that and Moore made that statement.
@StyrofoamKup No, they are just young and ignorant. I use to be one(still am in some cases, I am 24) but when I started working and having responsibilities I find out why people hate democrats. Really, if progressives are really that then they will raise the voting age to 24 or 25 to keep up with the times. In the past at 18 people had jobs then and own property, paid taxes. Now so many go to college they don't start working until later making then ignorant on certain issues.
Obama doesn't get my vote. He's a fucking fraud and so is the democratic party from the top down. Stop the fucking machine! Don't participate in fraud, stand up, fight back!
@cordfluidnevoie Are you high on crack or what. None of what you just said made any sense. Go to school, get yourself a education and then you can have a chat with me.
Obama is owned by Wall Street and the banksters, so the 18-29 year olds were hoodwinked. This time around the so called "conservatives" will be hoodwinked because they are already throwing their support behind Cain. The answer is staring everyone in the face, Ron Paul.. his record is impeccable, he's not some shape-shifting worm like Perry or Romney. Stop the Left/right bullshit and lets take our country back from the scumbags.
@RegioLunar Anyone who runs to govt for his/her answers is an idiot. What govt 'gives' can take it away.Id rather keep my money & BUY my own health policy. Just bcs " every other G20" nation" has compulsory health insurance does NOT make it right. Have you lived in any of these places? I have. In UK, Greece and Canada. THEY SUCK! Pple die waiting. The talented docs LEFT! Moreover, the G20 is an extension of the UN.. a fascist dictatorship. They're nothing to the US except killers & moochers.
@RegioLunar As for the use of the word 'capitalism' - if one means 'red' but calls it 'blue', what does that make him? Either ignorant or ignorant. You are obviously a socialist You expect the goverment to steal other people's money to take care of you. In return, you are willing to give up your freedom, liberties and rights. I AM NOT WILLING! Call a spade a spade. Capitalism is GOOD. Corporatism is BAD.
Wanna learn what stealing is? It´s more like asking your buddie for a bailout then using this money to pay my fines for annoying litigations resulting from my reckless behaviour. But criticising this is at least socialism, hmmm..
@RegioLunar Ur comment that criticizing is allowed by socialism proves how delusional & uneducated U R. Socialism is cause of MILLIONS massacred!. Moreover, the instance u describe in which bailouts from public coffers r used to change laws to b more favorable to crooks IS, I hate to bust your bubble, >>>> the very essence of SOCIALISM! <<<< So, back to the drawing board for you pal. Study varieties of thought & influences so u can discern. Bcs what I read from u now, is pure doublespeak.
It's not that Obama was not being right wing enough like most brain dead conservatives would like to think, he was being a right wing asshole.
The problem was that he was doing shit and getting nothing done. He was another bought and paid for politician doing the bidding of the 1%, just like any republican is.
and that's not what we wanted.
Whether they like to admit it or not we wanted progressive actions, we got none.
Obama has lost the left, middle, and always right W
Moore is absolutely correct. The youth, which has become a pivotal demographic for Obama, and by extension the Democrats, will not come out to vote when they feel that they have bee lied to.
@alphacause Which means what to the US electorate? That the republicans will win by default? The thing is with Obama, is that he couldn't NOT win that election. There was no way the republicans were going to get in after GWB had done his darndest to undermine the economy. I knew from his first speech, when he used several "Bushisms", that he was unlikely to be the visionary that the US was so desperately in need of. It's a shame.
18-29 year olds Michael says? Also the same Demographic that is heavily into Pop Culture, Social Media, fitting in, being 'cool', falling for brand names and branding of politicians, and the fact that brain development doesn't fully mature for half of that Demographic may be a part of it.
@RandomShellAccount So they are somehow less human, and do not get a say in their civic life? Funny how at the same time they are more than capable of going into the military and blowing shit up for the politicians in charge
@llapse Unfortunately, he's just the opposite of a capitalist. If he were a capitalist, he'd be behaving much differently. He's a socialist, corporatist, and overall a piece of shit communist.
@SomethingSea1 i understand the definition(s) of capitalism and michael moore at least fits one of those definitions, how is he not a capitalist? we run into this circular debate when we get into semantics. i used to be an "an-cap" myself so i understand capitalism as a philosophy as opposed to the capitalism that we see in our current economy which is state capitalism.
@llapse Oh yes, in general action, he's a capitalist. That's what makes him a hypocrite, since he's a socialist in philosophy. Essentially, he wants the best of both sides: getting money, and appeasing people, as well. He makes money with the free market (voluntary interactions), and then demonizes that which makes him money. He's an idiot, and he doesn't realize that he's demonizing the very process of making money that he's used. And it's only been possible because of our new technology! Psh!
@SomethingSea1 Maybe I shuld introduce you to his history - he started "making money" when his first documentary became a classic. A little film called "Roger and Me, back in 1989." And that technology, that allowed him to flourish was called the movie camera - hardly a new technology. He's not perfect, but he is puttin ghis life on the line every day he leaves his home. He has about the same number of death trheats each week as JFK Jr, and we all know how that ended for him andhis wife.

And that technology, that allowed him to flourish was called the movie camera - hardly a new technology. He's not perfect, but he is putting his life on the line every day he leaves his home. He has about the same number of death threats each week as JFK Jr, and we all know how that ended for him andhis wife.
Oh, I quite agree - cameras are not new technology, and that's not what I was referring to. Our new technology is the technology of being more and more socially connected - Twitter, YouTube, and so forth. Social technology has, quite expectedly, helped spread the philosophy of socialism. What is new is the trickling socialist philosophy becoming mainstream, along with all of the emotional appeals that go with it, those same appeals that spell the end of our improvements of technology.
Perfect? In relation to what goal? I think perfection is a misnomer, and a stupid one, at that. Perfection is the means to destruction. If you're looking to make something perfect, you're never going to make that product real.
Putting his life on the life on the line every day? So what? Peter, Paul, and all those other disciples put their lives on the line too - and died. And for what? A lie. Yeah, he really does believe in what he does. Doesn't make him any less of a moron.
Death threats? Seriously? You know what was the crowning Jewel of VenomFangX's follows? Yeah: that he received death threats. If you're going to go on the big stage and use your full legal name and do controversial stuff in public, you're going to get death threats. I'm sorry, pumpkin, but that's the way the world is: we're nuts.
So let me introduce you to some reality, Elise: you're defending an ideology that spells the death of millions if it's realized (which it is): socialism.
The belief that people owe you stuff just because they're alive is slavery, and that's the basis of communism and socialism. You're part of the tribe, so you'd better do your part. If you don't "contribute" (i.e. Give stuff to people because they want it without expecting anything back), then you're an evil capitalist.
You know what's wrong with that idea? When you make things, you need resources to make them. That takes time and effort. If you just give that stuff away, you have less time to improve your methods of making stuff. Making a profit means you can improve your items, make even more profit, and be able to provide even more value to people who are like-minded traders. Socialism is the idea that you don't teach a man to fish, you just keep giving him Your fish: eternal, unsustainable... dependency.
Eternal, unsustainable, dependency. Sound familiar at all? Global warming? Environmental destruction? BP? Those elections that just never seem to give "the people" what they want?
A civilization cannot forever live with a comfortable delusion. Reality is a cold-hearted bitch, and she never forgives. Well, sometimes she does, but only if you learn soon enough. Do you suppose we will? I'm thinking so, but people every day on here try to prove me wrong.
After ALL that talk, Moore's STILL gonna vote for WARCRIMINAL oBUSHma who didn't indict GWB/neoKUNTs who HIJACKED US.Gvt, waged ILLEGAL wars/occupations/torture/secret & indef.detention/habeas suspension/DHS.policestate@home or vs.WallSt.Banksters STEALING $TRILLONS?
WORSE, O' couldn't fly back to DC fast enough to VOTE FOR the WallSt.Bailouts back in 2008, DURING campaigning!
WORST, Obama IS the one who ACTUALLY SIGNED OFF ON ALL proceeding bailouts INCLUDING AiG!
@jmjfanss Good job voting for a guy that's FAR too old to serve as President, and would happily rape all your fights and freedoms away. I was once a "huh, this guy doesn't sound too bad" Ron Paul half-supporter, but then I read the facts. Ron Paul is Republican for a reason, dude... Republican for a reason. There's an article I'm trying to link to, but YouTube is so half-baked it just gives me "Error, try again" - so I'm trying again and again. Google "ron paul would be a frightening president".
@Volatus I read that article. It's pretty rotten. Don't be swayed by just any so-called "journalist". Do your own research. Read the constitution. Read history. Get as many primary sources as you can and do a lot of personal reflection.
@hawbster believe me, I'm kinda the king of personal reflection. The article was written as a Halloween article, so it's a bit sarcastic by nature, but it still touches on some quotes and sources that are REALLY deeply disturbing. In fact, I wouldn't vote for the guy for his age alone. That's not discrimination, that's experience. The balance of old-folks causing harm to the world versus helping the world is so biased towards old-farts burning the world before they die, it's just statistics.
& hopefully, a growing number of Americans, too, as the coming $ collapse seems all but inevitable, unless the Fed.Reserve & Fed.Gvt change course, which w/out RP as POTUS, chances seem remote, to nil.
Growing friction between the NWO.WallSt.Bankster RulingClass vs.We the FREE sovereigns is headed toward entropy. Worst of all, their eons-old, obvious divide & conquer amongst the citizenry unfortunately seems to be working: those that want MORE Gvt intervention vs.LeaveMeAlone's
@johnm7831 Oh yes, it's true that people are calling out the president on the bullshit. That's not the problem. The problem is that Michael Moore idiotically thinks the system of socialism, democracy, and communism can be fixed with more of the same.
Fat ass opportunist trying to sell books/movies and speak for an anti-capitalist movement while sitting in the top %1. He's a joke and so is anyone who doesn't see him for what he is.
@lovethyneighborloljk No, you're a fool. If he's apart of the 1% but is speaking out against the 1%. Than that makes him a selfless altruistic individual. You're just too stupid & blinded by pure rage to see what Michael Moore is trying to do. So get back in your mother's basement and drink a nice steaming hot cup of STFU.
@ogrish84 Selfless? HAHA, answer this: Is Michael Moore sleeping out in tents tonight or in his multi-million dollar home? Is Michael Moore trying to make this movement into a capitalistic opportunity that will make him millions via a film or book? Is Michael Moore letting actual protesters speak or is he doing a press tour talking about the 99% while conveniently promoting his book? Selfless? You're making me laugh.
@lovethyneighborloljk Michael Moore deserves every penny he has because he's earned it. Unlike many people right now in the financial industry that's trying to figure out new ways to create a debt class of working slaves. Michael Moore writes books, makes documentaries, that's his job. He helps to raise awareness on issues of the day.
An yet, here is you being a fat ass opportunist talking shit about a Man that's done far more than you'll ever do in your lifetime. Keep on trolling! HA-HA!
Moore is 1% all by himself... his ideas.. not so much... how a slob zombie with nothing but some movies filled with half truths & outright fabrications gets air time is a microcosm of our failing country.
@TCall2004 I really believe that "crap". You want to know why? Because Michael Moore himself said he uses tactics of the "enemy". If they spread half truths and outright lies so will he... again he himself said that...
Republicans, Democrats,.. it's all the same, and has been for years. The current political system in America is futile, and will continue to be until the necessary changes are made.
@crimsonsamuraiftw Stop speaking common sense. Most people in the United States don't have the capacity to throw out the right/left paradigm that they've been brainwashed to believe in from cradle to grave. So we'll all continue to see the same old tired propaganda throughout our lifetimes because too many lack imagination.
CAPITALISM creates ELITE CRIMINALS. BANKERS. DRUG LORDS. INEQUALITY. INSECURITY. GREED. RUTHLESS COMMUNISM. NWO. NAZI. TERRORISM. LAZY PEOPLE. REBEL POLITICIAN. ANARCHY. worst is WAR etc.. etc..
CAPITALISM was designed only for CORRUPT OPPORTUNISTIC MANIPULATIVE LAZY POLITICIAN. BANKERS. LAWYERS. DRUG LORDS. JUDGES. CRIMINALS. DICTATORS. RULERS. KING. SULTANATE. EMPEROR etc. etc..
HARD WORKING PEACE LOVING HAPPY HONEST SOCIETY were always the slave victim and poorly starve to death. :(
@kopellhinex Do you know why your comment is marked as spam? Because it's obvious to anyone that you're so emotionally invested in this that you cannot see reality. Oh, not to discount emotion - indeed, emotion is vital. However, emotion in lieu of reality? You might as well be a Christian, a theist, a believer. Capitalism is free trade; voluntary interactions. The reason that capitalism cannot result in monopolies is that it sends out profit signals that drop the price, via competition.
Gov't is based on taxation, and taxation is not voluntary. They get your money whether you want to give it or not. Why bother providing a good service? Just enough to "get by" and people will stfu. And remember: you agreed to this before you had the ability to agree to this, and so you have to be alright with it, because if you aren't, then how does the system continue?
There is enforcement at the margins, where people take active action. Force is used to quell these rebellions, and they are used as a symbol: "This is what'll happen to you if you get out of line." Additionally, since people are trying to be "patriots", they turn a blind eye when things go wrong. It's the perfect place for a would-be dictator. But you're already familiar with this. What needs to be done is have the cure separated from the disease, before it's too late. But... how?
Moore's hypocrisies and lies aside, Young people came out in 2008 because of bush fatigue and they wanted to be cool to vote for the "young hip black guy" as president.
That said, good luck retaining the white house by ignoring the old vote, the most powerful voting bloc.
@migkillertwo Don't worry, the baby boomer generation will die out soon enough. What with the medical system collapsing around the United States as we speak. Only rich white old men will be able to afford medical treatment soon. Enjoy the shit-hole your kind is creating.
Ah the young and ignorant with a total lack of pragmatism. Thanks for nothing, guys. Also, thanks for insulting everyone else Michael. Also, thanks for the complete lack of any understanding what a midterm electoral demographics are.
@sailfished I've been a little sloppy, true. For the record, I give Obama 60/40 to win this cycle. There's simply no way we're going to compete against this Chomskyite mouthbreathing mob...oh yeah and a billion dollars of negative advertising.
I don't really get Michael Moore sometimes. He's a critic of the capitalist system yet every four years he tells people to hold their nose and go vote for the Democrats, a party which is just as committed as the Republicans to defending the material interests of the capitalist class. I guess he holds out hope that if we apply enough pressure the Dems will move to the left and actually respond to the demands of working people. Keep dreaming, Mike.
Calling people fags, Telling them to fuck themselves, Talking about conspiracy theory, these things Help NO ONE. As an organizer for one of the many occupations I can tell you this is detrimental to the movement. Please stop.
@jmjfanss NWO? You are a Fucking Retard! You pile of putrid Donkey shit! Michael Moore wants 100% Free Universal Health care for Everyone! How is that part of the NWO Plan you fag?
@jmjfanss When did I say that I support the Fed you fucked faced Reject? Listen you Stool, stop spewing the shit that crawls out of your ass hole every morning, you Bitch! Stop Lying You fucking Pile of parasitic Dog Shit!
@deeppurple28 Whats wrong with universal health care? most civilized nations have it including mine. Although, it's not "free" it's just that most civilized people understand that we would rather put our money into a collective pot so we can all benifit regardless of their current financial situation. I like living in a country that actually takes care of their people.
@Jason442200 What's wrong is Greece, Italy, Spain, etc... it never works past the point of 50% of the people learning that they can mooch off the others. Then it falls apart. It did not work at any point in the history of man. Not in Russia, not in Latin America, S. America and is now falling apart in Europe. And it is failing in the US but we can still reverse it. .maybe. Asking people to buck up & take care of themselves seems harsh to some but it better than the chains of gov't slavery.
@bamatecangel7 Well you don't actually have anything like that in the US, as far as I can see. As for those europian countries you mentioned, the main problem with them is that they have such a low tax rate that the gov can't actually do anything. The greeks and french want their universal health care yet don't want to work 5 day work weeks or pay taxes. Universal health care has worked fine in Canada mainly because we realize that we all have to contribute to it.
@Jason442200 Universal healthcare is a given in this country but various governments (National party mainly/kind of like the Republicans) have been running it into the ground for years. I am so grateful for our public health. It saved my life on more than one occasion. I struggle to comprehend why socialised medicine is such an issue in the USA. Why wouldn't you want people to be able to get free or very cheap medical treatment? It's bizarro-world.
@Oilisdeathtomany Fully agree, our health care system is something that should be upheld no matter what, I don't know of any normal citizen who would think otherwise and ya, it needs some fixing. As for the american view on it, I think half the problem is the fact that the word "socialized" is used. Sad but true I think. It seems to have this stigma attached to it yet most don't really understand what it means or the fact that so much actually is socialized, road, school, fire depts, ect.
@bamatecangel7 Also on a side note, we in Canada also view our gov a little bit different than what I see in the USA. We see the gov for what it is, a representative for the people. The government is there to help our society work not tear it appart. I fully agree that most govs, including my own are broken, but ripping it appart an deming it as the enemy doesn't solve anything. Whats the alternative?
@Jason442200 The alternative is what we founded, freedom of the common man to pursue his natural rights of self determination as long as there is no harm to others. We had that for a century +. The states created the Federal, not the other way around. Individuals found their own way. We made a country where people came for that freedom from Kings, dictators, Centralized planning, etc. Then we began to give up our freedoms. Sometimes voluntarily, sometime not. So now we take it back or = Venuzula
@Jason442200 Government provides for the public needs and the markets provide for the publics wants. defining what the needs and wants are is the problem
That is just not true, universal healthcare lacks competition and is prone to malinvestment, the government is a blackhole for money, the US gov already has $115 trillion dollars in unpaid liabilities from Social Security and Medicare alone.
It is simply a lie to say that we cannot have a market solution.
The government has been involved in the market since the 50s and costs went up and quality went down, like with all government services.
It's a bit of a lie to say universal health care lacks competition as well, many countries have market mechanisms for many to compete for the sake of survival, much of the reasons why costs for the public have gone up is primarily because of lobbying by the involved markets. Even within those companies overhead is far higher than companies in more socialistic systems because of the way the market in the US is.
Well I agree, the problem is the US gov involved in the market where they pick winners and losers, bail out bankers, and have lobbyists write regulations.
I think we need to get the government out of the market to get big buisness out of government. De-fang the monstrous animal that is being used to beat down the lowest bidder.
Stop the coercion in the market, get gov back to constitutional restraints.
@Jason442200 "Whats wrong with universal health care? " Well, for starters, the US government cannot even used tax payer money to properly rebuild a nation that they destroyed with taxpayer money, and they cannot provide adequate quality education with our tax money even though the US spends the most on education. IF they cannot provide quality education institutions to the US citizentry , what makes you think that they will provide quality healthcare to everyone?
@Jason442200 There is no shortage of people like you...how unfortunate. But at least you guys make me rich. I appreciate the volatility...in a bitter sweet kind of way :'(
@edenscancer I cant help you, if your lack of computer skills are such that you feel it necessary for me to spoon feed you the thousand points of light that would set your hair on fireI don't know what to say. Serious people who are interested in investigating the cabal of oligarchs who have repeatedly and publicly proclaimed there agenda are not hard to find . I will leave you to you cower in your self imposed ignorance. Good luck, You will need it.
@edenscancer I just visited your channel and realized what a monumental waste of time it was to reply to you . You sir are what is referred to as a lost cause
@edenscancer I think it was the dystopic nihilism, coupled with your apparent lack of compassion for humanity. I'll put it this way, I have a 14 year old daughter and I wouldn't let your festering hate filled soul within a mile of her
@sailfished dystopic nihilism? Did you get that from my deconstruction of harmful elements of society or the fact that my compassion for humanity is filtered to those who actively partake in it's progression rather than its gradual downfall? Also, I don't have a soul. Neither do you or your daughter. What we have is a brain capable of logic, compassion, reasoning, love and hate. Please tell me where my optimistic realism and hope for the human condition portrays nihilism?
I have a 16 year old girl, and I wouldn't let her get within 1 mile of any "Occupy" movement anywhere, most specifically Oakland. If you'd like to experience the true manifestation of festering hate and dystopic nihilism, do it somewhere where your life is on the line. I got out of S. Africa in 1990. The compassion for humanity of which you speak is long dead in my country, which is cause for celebration on your end. They took "the man" down. SA has just blossomed since.

You are obviously a socialist You expect the goverment to steal other people's money to take care of you. In return, you are willing to give up your freedom, liberties and rights. I AM NOT WILLING! Call a spade a spade. Capitalism is GOOD. Corporatism is BAD.

@turbomango "You expect the goverment to steal "

That's exactly it.
Whether they like to admit it or not we wanted progressive actions, we got none.

alphacause 4 months ago 4
@alphacause Which means what to the US electorate? That the republicans will win by default? The thing is with Obama, is that he couldn't NOT win that election. There was no way the republicans were going to get in after GWB had done his darndest to undermine the economy. I knew from his first speech, when he used several "Bushisms", that he was unlikely to be the visionary that the US was so desperately in need of. It's a shame.

@llapse Unfortunately, he's just the opposite of a capitalist. If he were a capitalist, he'd be behaving much differently. He's a socialist, corporatist, and overall a piece of shit communist.
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
@SomethingSea1 i understand the definition(s) of capitalism and michael moore at least fits one of those definitions, how is he not a capitalist? we run into this circular debate when we get into semantics. i used to be an "an-cap" myself so i understand capitalism as a philosophy as opposed to the capitalism that we see in our current economy which is state capitalism.
llapse 3 months ago
@llapse Oh yes, in general action, he's a capitalist. That's what makes him a hypocrite, since he's a socialist in philosophy. Essentially, he wants the best of both sides: getting money, and appeasing people, as well. He makes money with the free market (voluntary interactions), and then demonizes that which makes him money. He's an idiot, and he doesn't realize that he's demonizing the very process of making money that he's used. And it's only been possible because of our new technology! Psh!
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
@SomethingSea1 Maybe I shuld introduce you to his history - he started "making money" when his first documentary became a classic. A little film called "Roger and Me, back in 1989." And that technology, that allowed him to flourish was called the movie camera - hardly a new technology. He's not perfect, but he is puttin ghis life on the line every day he leaves his home. He has about the same number of death trheats each week as JFK Jr, and we all know how that ended for him andhis wife.

EliseForJoy 3 months ago
Oh, I quite agree - cameras are not new technology, and that's not what I was referring to. Our new technology is the technology of being more and more socially connected - Twitter, YouTube, and so forth. Social technology has, quite expectedly, helped spread the philosophy of socialism. What is new is the trickling socialist philosophy becoming mainstream, along with all of the emotional appeals that go with it, those same appeals that spell the end of our improvements of technology.
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
Death threats? Seriously? You know what was the crowning Jewel of VenomFangX's follows? Yeah: that he received death threats. If you're going to go on the big stage and use your full legal name and do controversial stuff in public, you're going to get death threats. I'm sorry, pumpkin, but that's the way the world is: we're nuts.
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
So let me introduce you to some reality, Elise: you're defending an ideology that spells the death of millions if it's realized (which it is): socialism.
The belief that people owe you stuff just because they're alive is slavery, and that's the basis of communism and socialism. You're part of the tribe, so you'd better do your part. If you don't "contribute" (i.e. Give stuff to people because they want it without expecting anything back), then you're an evil capitalist.
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
You know what's wrong with that idea? When you make things, you need resources to make them. That takes time and effort. If you just give that stuff away, you have less time to improve your methods of making stuff. Making a profit means you can improve your items, make even more profit, and be able to provide even more value to people who are like-minded traders. Socialism is the idea that you don't teach a man to fish, you just keep giving him Your fish: eternal, unsustainable... dependency.
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
Eternal, unsustainable, dependency. Sound familiar at all? Global warming? Environmental destruction? BP? Those elections that just never seem to give "the people" what they want?
A civilization cannot forever live with a comfortable delusion. Reality is a cold-hearted bitch, and she never forgives. Well, sometimes she does, but only if you learn soon enough. Do you suppose we will? I'm thinking so, but people every day on here try to prove me wrong.

The reason that capitalism cannot result in monopolies is that it sends out profit signals that drop the price, via competition.

@kopellhinex Do you know what creates elite criminals? Drug lords? Corrupt opportunistic manipulative lazy politicians? Dictators?
It is government, kopellhinex, and I'll explain how:
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
@kopellhinex
SomethingSea1 3 months ago
@kopellhinex
But... how?

I like living in a country that actually takes care of their people.
Jason442200 4 months ago 21
@Jason442200 What's wrong is Greece, Italy, Spain, etc... it never works past the point of 50% of the people learning that they can mooch off the others. Then it falls apart. It did not work at any point in the history of man. Not in Russia, not in Latin America, S. America and is now falling apart in Europe. And it is failing in the US but we can still reverse it. .maybe. Asking people to buck up & take care of themselves seems harsh to some but it better than the chains of gov't slavery.
bamatecangel7 4 months ago
@bamatecangel7 Well you don't actually have anything like that in the US, as far as I can see. As for those europian countries you mentioned, the main problem with them is that they have such a low tax rate that the gov can't actually do anything. The greeks and french want their universal health care yet don't want to work 5 day work weeks or pay taxes. Universal health care has worked fine in Canada mainly because we realize that we all have to contribute to it.
Jason442200 4 months ago
@Jason442200 Universal healthcare is a given in this country but various governments (National party mainly/kind of like the Republicans) have been running it into the ground for years. I am so grateful for our public health. It saved my life on more than one occasion. I struggle to comprehend why socialised medicine is such an issue in the USA. Why wouldn't you want people to be able to get free or very cheap medical treatment? It's bizarro-world.
Oilisdeathtomany 4 months ago
@Oilisdeathtomany Fully agree, our health care system is something that should be upheld no matter what, I don't know of any normal citizen who would think otherwise and ya, it needs some fixing. As for the american view on it, I think half the problem is the fact that the word "socialized" is used. Sad but true I think. It seems to have this stigma attached to it yet most don't really understand what it means or the fact that so much actually is socialized, road, school, fire depts, ect.
Jason442200 4 months ago
@bamatecangel7 Also on a side note, we in Canada also view our gov a little bit different than what I see in the USA. We see the gov for what it is, a representative for the people. The government is there to help our society work not tear it appart. I fully agree that most govs, including my own are broken, but ripping it appart an deming it as the enemy doesn't solve anything. Whats the alternative?
Jason442200 4 months ago
@Jason442200 The alternative is what we founded, freedom of the common man to pursue his natural rights of self determination as long as there is no harm to others. We had that for a century +. The states created the Federal, not the other way around. Individuals found their own way. We made a country where people came for that freedom from Kings, dictators, Centralized planning, etc. Then we began to give up our freedoms. Sometimes voluntarily, sometime not. So now we take it back or = Venuzula

@Jason442200 Government provides for the public needs and the markets provide for the publics wants. defining what the needs and wants are is the problem
Sagefrakrobatik 4 months ago
@Jason442200
It is simply economically illiterate
RyanR3volution 4 months ago
@RyanR3volution
Well before 1950 you didn't need government protection of industries because there was no competition from Europe. So that's not really an argument.
pulsatingremedy 4 months ago
@RyanR3volution
It's a bit of a lie to say universal health care lacks competition as well, many countries have market mechanisms for many to compete for the sake of survival, much of the reasons why costs for the public have gone up is primarily because of lobbying by the involved markets. Even within those companies overhead is far higher than companies in more socialistic systems because of the way the market in the US is.
garith21 4 months ago
@garith21
It is a top down solution, not grassroots.
RyanR3volution 4 months ago
@Jason442200 "Whats wrong with universal health care? " Well, for starters, the US government cannot even used tax payer money to properly rebuild a nation that they destroyed with taxpayer money, and they cannot provide adequate quality education with our tax money even though the US spends the most on education. IF they cannot provide quality education institutions to the US citizentry , what makes you think that they will provide quality healthcare to everyone?

Also, I don't have a soul. Neither do you or your daughter. What we have is a brain capable of logic, compassion, reasoning, love and hate. Please tell me where my optimistic realism and hope for the human condition portrays nihilism?

@sailfished
