computer professional dumbfounded by a problem. I have a ATI radeon x1600 series graphics card. Windows CANT find it!!! It has power to it, because the fan works........but when I connect the VGA the monitor cannot detect it at all. I look at display settings and only the onboard nvidia graphics are displayed.
Is my graphics card fried?
Can my motherboard even support an upgraded graphics card?
Not sure!
waiting to be embarrassed by a simple solution that works!!
you de de de , that other port you didnt know nothing about is called a DVI port. for more of the modern moniters, it pruducers a better single then the rgb. cause its digital. insted of analog.
the white plug is for newer flat panel monitors with DVI connector (Best Picture) and the blue plug is for old and new monitors with AVG connector. If you have a choice, always use white plug!
If i have a geforce gt 130 and after a year, i want to change to the GTX 280. can it still fit? or must i buy all new. I maybe need new processor and more RAM?
i isntalled my 4890 but everything on the screen tears and like has a drag effect that things and graphics do not follow everything gets like lines over htem .. anything moving gets that !
i ahve tried 2 different lcd screens , installed new drivers many times even uninstalled and installed......why am i experiencing this bad effect? i tried all resolutions and i tried all hz. plz! i payed alot.
My pci geforce fx5200 (yeah its crap but better than whats in my comp now) card doesn't have the blue thing, all it has is a dvi slot but my monitor hooks up to my intergrated card, which does have the blue thing of course. Any suggestions??
you failed to mention that the black svideo type plug is used to TV out or some adapter that comes with your new video card - in the box.
Also why dont you do into more detail eg. Disabling your built in or on board video card in the BIOS first before putting that on in , and show how to install the drivers.
I give this video a 2-10 because its sucks and DVI has been out since 2001 so you should know what it is used for LOL!
The white is what most new monitors come on now, you can get VGA/DVI adapters, if you still use a VGA monitor like mine, and still be able to use your card.
Hey, I just got a hd 4850 and I need a new power supply, but first I need to know if it will fit inside my case and my old card(8600gt) which I can't remove, has a little cable connecting it to motherboard... this may sound noob but how do I remove it? the little white one, thx :)
hey dude....I'm gonna have a guy install the card for free...but...would my computer's power supply be sufficient enough for a Galaxy Zeus 5500 AGP Video Card? My power supply is 250 watts...thanks in return
Some of them need power supplies others do not. Look for the square connector that comes out of the power supply. You need to connect that to a similar looking one connected to the graphics card.
yes, if the graphics card is better than the on you have, your computer will run games and applications that utilize the graphics card a little quicker. The quality of the graphics can be better depending on the game.

I can think of a few reasons for this -
1) The card you have is incompatable with your current system configuration.
2) The card is not inserted correctly.
3) The card is damaged.
