  • its really cool to see the same bike as mine on here, YZF 750R and i am shocked at the result i was thinking the YZF would be many seconds behind a newer bike. good video.

  • on a track like this a new 600cc would be as fast as a 1000cc.. every track in England have no real straights so therefor it would not be any difference in a 600cc vs a 1000cc.. a 600cc could even got in top...if it was 2 pro rider i reckon the 1000cc would be a fraction faster...

  • lol @ the color scheme on the Yamaha

  • Its awesome to see my yamaha(even tho i own a 94 fzr600)

    mcn rules!!!

  • The title is a bit stupid in the end on a track the time has a massive difference depending on the rider an older 1000 or 600 could easily beat the GSX R1000 if the riders good

  • None broke under all the abuse. Yamaha came back more noisy. The old Kawa won

  • love the "spare key"

  • shit its on fire. haha no its not, go back to sleeeep.

  • Now Ive got long hair but every time I watch an MCN video I say the words; "that hair is so fucking gay"

  • It aint about the bike, it's how you ride it! (plus you need half decent tyres)

  • 0:16 fail laugh

  • Not a very good comparison video.... Zzzz

  • To much chatting - show more film of the actual driving please !

  • bike > pussy cagers anyday

  • Completely believable. Our local club has a mid 90's vintage class and often the bikes run only a couple seconds off what the modern bikes do. This is amateur vs. amateur racers here. The Pro's go a good bit faster but the pro's don't run in vintage so that would be a unfair comparison.

  • Hand Clock and a bunch of friends playing around in a track. Im sorry I am not convinced! I had older and newer bike and there are no where even close to it! top speed of a 93 FZR 750 is about mid 2nd gear of a K6! you do the rest of the math.

never mind the suspension and brakes! sorry guys but not accurate at all

  • So why did they fuck with the older bikes suspension, I've never come across shit like that. Dumb.

  • and sudently the bike have difrent tire and thats is very not coool

  • coolll test kevin smith its looks like he is pro rider but clock in hand ? gimmi a break :)

  • 0:51 Please go an buy a helmet

  • I owned a Yamaha fzr1000 from 1987 , and it has enough power and handling to keep up with newer bikes on a track .

  • Keep it up guys, want to see a motorcycle type gear ASAP!

  • In the 90's some YZF750 riders build the engine of a Fzr1000 in the frame of a YZF.

This was the best combination , it was the R1 before the R1 was invented.

Amazing steering with the perfect frame of the YZF.

    I like this video.

And i think a FZR1000 from 1987 in top condition can beat most of the newer bikes today with handling , not top speed .

    RR

  • @Holydiver7019 You ever ridden an '87 FZR1000? Heavy pigs of bikes with very average brakes, great engines though. Seriously, modern bikes run rings around the old stuff as they're lighter and handle & stop a lot better. Power is only part of the equation.

  • @boingkster

Yes i owned a FZR 1000 from 1987 and did 20000 km's in 1 year , this motorcycle can keep up with the newer bikes on a short track , if it is in good condition of course.

Top speed is not so high from this bike, but the handling is very good.

Of course it can not compete with the new R1 or Fireblade ,

  • i love the old fireblade!

  • like a bunch of silly schoolboys.

I turned it off after 40 seconds.

  • that was my yzf bought from planet moto derby it went faster when i rode it lol

  • What are the results?

  • what a shitty video most mcn vids are

  • its hardly hilarious

  • mcn is crap

  • yzf is a shit hot bike...would run rings round the same era fireblade...but yamaha put them out with such dodgie colours not many people bought them....1 of yamaha's best bikes

  • go the yamaha.i can stay with late model thous on my 93 yzf and even smoke most v twins.you want to talk about your 180horse go to the pub.

  • Put in the circuit a Suzuki GSXR 2006 with the same kilometers of these bikes and then you will can do a real match.

  • @Marco6thgear How often do you find yourself at Suzuka with your YZF?? This is real life and in real life you go to "normal" tracks

  • Put in the circuit a Suzuki GSXR 2006 with the same kilometers of these bikes and then you will can do a real match.

  • Love this video

  • it is nice that you msn gyus are having fun.. but what about a viewer, have you thought of that ?, you just turned otherwise interesting video into piece of crap .. get some announcers.. get microphones get film crews or dont even bother recording this amateur crap.. it does look like mcn has no money or something....

  • @prinzeugen Dude stop whining. the fucking video is from 2006. compare this video to the stuff they are making now or shut the fuck up.

  • @prinzeugen fuck off dickhead and read the date.i agree it is amatuer quality but there vids have moved on.anyway get a life you fucking dickead.my first ever comment.twat face

  • @prinzeugen dickhead.read the date.and shut the fuck up anyway.complaining to a world you tube audience you don't no.get a life fuck head.by the way this is my first ever comment dedicated to you you sad fuck

  • the guy in the green suit looks like a teenage mutant ninja turtle

  • all the bikes are winners

  • @dearchap so i take it you are very bad at everything u do so u say that alot!

  • @dearchap I agree with you! still think that even if I had a bmw s1000rr or an rsv4 a Valentino Rossi would still lap me with a bloody 250!! :P

  • @Bassmanonmasa he'd do it while simultaneously updating his facebook status about shaming you, and me and everyone else on this page

  • I'd prefer handling over power any day, especially after I test rode an 1198s with nice ohlins and superlight wheels. I wonder if these bikes had the best wheels and suspension on them if they could have made up the 1.6 seconds.

  • These MCN videos always seem to have interesting topics, but the production value is so GHETTO that it's difficult to take them seriously.

  • most people think that because motogp has come along and superbikes have gone to 1000cc that new superbikes are way faster than the old ones but a decent rider on a CBR on a good road could easily keep up with the GSXR

  • How did this get a 4 star review?

  • lol is that why a uk yamaha R1 has just over 150 brake, (2005) but a 2005 gsxr 1000 has between 180-186?

  • your mixing up your crank BHP with rear wheel BHP. My 04R1 put out over 155 at the rear wheel as standard which was roughly 185 at the crank.

  • thats rubbish mate

  • what a fuck camera is this

  • Good video, shit quality though!

  • 3 year old video? How tall is that horse?

  • Does mcn record their videos on a camera phone then use some free piece of rubbish video editing program to slap some random shit music ontop. I could do better with a few mates..

  • man as soon as u stop hatin and realize whos king time after time youll be better off and if you havent figured it out yet...yamaha reigns supreme

  • Utter cack. Pointless, inaudable dross. What does this crap prove?

  • that suzuki sucks ass bro, no wonder why they haven't achieve anything on motogp or W superbike....!!

  • Same thing your mum did by having you.

    Funny as.

  • Crap, giddy knobheads

  • waste of time.

  • Pointless. Who cares?

  • It's quite interesting to see for those who cannot afford a new bike :)

  • bloody hell mcn sucks....what they say is right n what we say is wrong bloody shit mcn.the bad thing about mcn is that they hate honda they love yamaha.every time if u see there videos thay have praised yamaha.fuuucccck mcn.how u people believe dis video 93 beat 2009 impossible.

  • fukkkkkkkkk

  • I said it years ago , the yzf 750 is a very good bike.

It has almost the hp of the Honda fireblade from the same year and that is a 900 cc !!!

  • Can't understand a bloody word anyone said in this video. fucking hilarious my ass. Good visuals though.

  • yzf 750 rules!!!!!

  • 10 speed? xD

  • ZX7R's,Woohaa love 'em! and i run an R1.

One of the best cult bikes around, you'll never go wrong with 1500 spent here.

  • I woul HATE to ride a bike with a shot rear shock round a track. I rode my friends bike the other day which has a knackered shock and it felt like the rear wasn't connected ot the bike, just sort of swayed and swung around

  • No it wasn't!

  • england

  • it was recorded in england because he got his £1500 sports bike from chesterfield salvage company.

  • its at cadwell park in Lincon you fucking idiot

  • haha you got mad about it to..

  • I didn't you just thought i did because i put "fucking" in their.

  • well yeah. I mean there is a difference you stupid fucking moron dumbass fucktard :p

  • what helmet is the guy at 6:00 on the ninja wearing?

  • look like a shoei kagayama replica

  • YES!! ZX7R!! i love those fucking bikes. I'd rather have one than any gsxr, any day.

  • annoying laugh hehehehehee

  • i would take a mid 90s bike over a new gsxr thats just me.

  • The bike of the 90s are actually pretty quick due to less emission restriction.

  • I have a GSXR1000K2 and love it. Before that I had the ZX7R. The 7R was a fantastic bike and the front end is as Legendary as they say. The bike was so stable through corners because of the extra weight it had. When it was moving you did not notice the weight. The GSXR feels skitty in comparison if you try to ride it the same. (It needs more respect!) Although you get used to it .I would by another 7R as a second bike again as they are that good.

  • fireblade ftw, thing was running like crap with shot suspension and still stayed on the track. Ive drooled over them since they came out.

  • Yamaha's rule!!!

  • As a long time fan of Yamaha, in particular the FZR, I could not be more proud. Nice to see what I have told other former riders is true.

  • Can't be that big a fan of Yamaha considering its a YFZ750R, try another valve per cylinder and 1 more piston per caliper on the front breaks. Come on mate ;)

  • Last I checked The FZR and the YZF had five valves per cylinder. You are right about the stock brakes though, an extra pot would let you wait a fraction of a second longer before you set up for a corner. Maybe that's why I kept the Nissin six pot brakes when I grafted those '97 Kawasaki ZX7R inverted forks onto my '93 FZR600. The torque of that Genesis motor with a little sprocket science, and Beasley race glass made up for the weight gain. Cheers to ya! :)

  • SHIT quality video, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Cheap bikes! Here in Finland I bought a 1988 Honda VFR 750 for 2300€ (2060£) last year (2008)... Well I think Finland is an expensive country to buy cars and bikes.

  • Please record on something other than a handicam :( Or at the very least get a steadycam and a better microphone setup, these videos are interesting but could be SO MUCH BETTER!

  • agreed!

  • camera quality is a laugh, looks like an episode of crime watch

  • im from louth! the town where cadwell race track is at :D

  • can you imagine learning to spell?

  • it's better to use them, because if you fall at high speed without, it will hurt a lot more then without them.

  • hmmm ok you proved nothing ;)

  • when riding a motorbike do u have to wear all those leather clothes

  • Leather, expensive but effective...........if its your skin or a dead animal skin ........ there is very little to be said.

  • on a racetrack you need either leathers or cordura

  • What a fun vid! I really love the sound older bikes make. Makes me want to take my 1990 Honda Hurricane out to a track day, just to see what it can do.

  • What a shame this video comes over very amateurish. Can't understand half of what they say.

    Book yer ideas up MCN

  • This was one of the very first videos we produced. The quality has increased since

  • can we have a list of the times the bikes done please?good vid and great bikes...

  • Unfortunately, I strongly disagree. You can almost always hear the sound of wind over the person reviewing. Just watch the first few seconds of the latest video [Ducati Desmosedici RR]. Also, there doesn't seem to be an external mic used in most/all of the videos; at least not a decent one.

  • Great video! Makes me want to go to the track. Cheers :)

  • Funny thing that when I was a little kid the only bike I would known that was fast and classified as supersport was the ninja. I just dreamed of zx9's and 7's back then at 10yr old.

Now I ride gixxer and really dont ever wanna own a kawasaki. :P

  • Thats one of the reasons i have a yzf 750 in my garage.

  • wow yzf not far off the gix lol lol lol

  • 1500 unbeleverble :)

  • go yzf go :D

  • how bout doing some drifting with tht muuuaaaahhhhaaahhhhaaa

  • Hmmm the YZF had pilot race tyres on it. Not sure what the other bikes had, but tyres make a HUGE difference...

  • I rekon valentino rossi would have beaten the lap times, would have been hilarious if they had him riding the bikes as we all know he could beat it. This video goes to prove that with more and more powerful bikes, we actually cant get much more time out of them unless it has fast straights. Also not to mention what tyres the other bikes had on them. I ride an old ducati 900ss and on the road i can keep with most things in the twisties and that is where the fun is. The rider makes the difference.

  • i like all bikes i think this is done just to see if bike performance has improved or not over the years

  • YZF FTW!

  • This test is flawed. You need practise laps to get used to the bike, then ideally get some real lap times out and from there work out the standard deviations. Then you get a real measure of the real capabilities. Plus the tester could be biased against a make (i.e. not push hard), so a real test would involved disguising the fairing and chassis too..

  • True!!! Only Yamaha

  • True!!! Only Yamaha

  • God I love the zx7r.. I don't care what people say about it, it was so many child's dream bike. That bike is the reason why people who don't ride call superbikes "ninjas" to this day.

  • iap i still think is the best kawasaki ever...

looks sound engine looks looks :P

  • i agree

  • Was my childhood dream bike : )

  • Hi folks, I have bought this very same YZR750 from MCN and its a great bike! As quick as I need to go without spending £1000`s on an R1 or the likes and keeps up with the majority of them too cos most of the riders on their sparkling new machines are wimps or just cant ride!!

  • The ninja sound was awesome! F1 like!!!!

  • Fireblade!, great bikes!

  • I love it when people cry over spilt milk

  • kawazaki have the worst reliability problems of any bike on the planet.

  • Is that right?

  • No is it fuck. Kawasaki are almost as good as Honda on reliability. Infact, all the jap bikes are usually great on reliability. Ducati are probably as a whole the worst. But to say Kawasaki are? Lol thats just a silly Ninja hater not someone who talks sense

  • Why aiming your gratuitous histrionic outburst at me for? Your reply is as pointless and unconstructive as the one left by zookygixx!

  • My comment was aimed at zookygixx not you m8 but its not unconstructive, its true.

  • track times dont show nearly as much as one might think...the new bikes are usually better in terms of stability. something a lap timer wont show...

just look at the old 80s ninjas...they will still do well at the drag strip and can even handle the twisties alright, but you dont feel nearly as comfortable going fast on them and the brakes are horribly under-powered compared to newer bikes.

  • plus the lap times on newer bikes are more consistent. On the old one you might be fast for two or three laps but then the performance falls off bc you are trying so hard. The new one's easier so you can do that time for 20 laps straight.

  • No it isnt bullshit mate. The fact is, 95% of GSXR's, BLADES, R1's AND ZX10's are bought by talentless clowns. Oh, just seen your name, 96%

  • True. That's why I go 600, cause I know I am a talentless clown...also why I stunt.

  • bullshit

  • the kawasaki zx7r is a brilliant bike with better handling than some of the new bikes today and they have a fair bit of speed aswell .... but he has bought a shit one

  • Yeah dude I have a 96' ZX6R and it runs better than 05' R6's no word of a lie. Bike of the year in 96' and 97', I like it so much I'm getting a 636 this spring.

  • the cbr sounds great!!! is that an aftermarket muffler?

  • MCN so full of shit....all dressed like GP riders...with their stupid nick names on the back...wankers.......they bin some of the best bikes available and think its funny....dick heads...

  • Don't know how long the straight is at Cadwell but it would be fun to throw a used 600 in there too. A litte less power, but slimmer and tighter handling...

  • the price is nothing , it depends of the power of the bike ... stupid

  • So what your saying is: that a Hayabusa would be the be-all and end-all hardcore track bike then? its powerful, but thats obviously not "it" now is it?

There a lot more things then power that come into play.... so whats this about calling other people stupid? ***cough** DUMBASS **cough cough***

  • i know , you're stupid , am i right that the price means nothing ?!

Yep i'm right , and i depends of a lot of things i know it i'm in motorcycles mecanic , but i'll don't say everything of what it depends , nobody want to hear that and it will be useless , and it's STUPID to say a bike wich costs 14000$ will be faster than a bike wich cost 6 000 $

  • Price is objective, so yes dumbass, you are right, and therefore it is esentially "nothing" (good observation there Socrates!)

  • get a better bike u povo fk

  • And to think i brought a 100cc scoot for £1200 :P :(

  • hehe, puts all the hyperbole that comes with each new bike in perspective. The new bikes are definitely faster, but not nearly as much as some like to think.

  • It's not important how accurate a test it was, it's just nice to see that an older, cheaper (and usually more practical) bike can be that close to a new one.

  • 3 flaws...

    1. All bikes should have had identical tires.

    2. all bikes should have had their suspensions set for the rider.

    3. They should have set up a lap timer, EVERY FUCKING trackday-joe has a lap timer.

    K

  • why would the test be better if they had put the same tires on all of the bikes. It would have invalidated the point of the test imo. If you can go buy a used bike for 1500 that will keep up with a new bike that costs way more, both bikes as-is, then that's saying a lot. If you need to go buy tires that adds to the cost. Average joe isn't gonna buy a new bike, take off perfectly good tires and put something else on. Why should they do it for a comparison?

  • I personally would not go to the track with old tires on an old bike that did not have the suspension set properly for me. IF you spend 1500 on a bike and cannot afford 300 for new tires, you have no business riding the 1500 bike.

  • can someone explain how to wheelie whilst your driving along?

    i cant do it xD

  • use your clutch. and depends how powerful your bike is

  • you need a litre bike. Just roll on the throttle.

  • This will vary from bike to bike, but basically get your bike in 2nd gear travelling at about 40 MPH, pull in the clutch, give it a handful of gas then dump the clutch.

  • Dunp the clutch is basicaly letting it out ?

    Thanks for responce :)

some woman knocked me off my motorbike last friday she said she didnt check her mirrors, i went straight into her side door, im ok but my bike is fucked, only a 125 aprilia but still not nice :(

  • Dump it i.e. let it out very quickly. You may not have enough power to do this in 2nd gear on a 125 - Try it at 20 MPH in 1st. Be careful not to flip it, a touch of rear brake will bring the front down if needed. Sorry about your bike.

  • no worrys, shit happens, silly woman drivers :P

thanks for replying do appreciate it.

  • lol, hope you can do better next time.

  • SHIT

  • that zx7r is a nice ass bike
