  • The most beaut small jet ever.

  • Can't believe it, already 50 years old and still looks new!

  • it look an awful lot like a BAE Hawk

  • @PivotDQ - It was the Hawk's predecessor...

  • I flew in a former Red Arrow Gnat at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota around 1999. It was based out of Colorado. Small cockpit when compared to a Viper or Eagle.

  • G-mour --was g-nat Arnold Glass's aircraft? I had a Gnat ,the highest surviving serial numbered one, i think xs-110, had a number 20 and a gold pyramid emblem on the tail 'bought at Sothbys, had it totally restored then Hurricane Andrew slammed it in Miami. Last time I heard it was in California still not flying. You Brits good a job on hiding the parts. We traded the damaged aircraft for a Strikemaster.

  • @johnnyjet33030 That gold pyramid will be the Royal Air Force No. 4 Flying Training School emblem, based at RAF Valley, UK using Gnats until about 1978ish. Pyramid badge came about from it's origins in Egypt in the 20's.

  • Agree with the above, the title of this filmn is incorrect. Also there are still several Folland Gnats privately owned and flying in the USA.

  • There is one at the airport in my town, owned by my flight instructor!

  • i have had the oppertunity to buy this beautiful aircraft along with a L-29. just an amazing aircraft all around

  • Wonderful, a Jet in the backyard of a sports airport and the pilot driving to his car? Yeah! Where can you always find that Gnat?

    Greetings, Chris.

  • G-MOUR is the best flying example of the Folland Gnat in the UK. It's kept at Kemble. There are a couple of Gnats in the USA and Canada, but most haven't flown for some considerable time.

  • Do you know of any left in the U.S.? There used to be a Gnat in Red Arrows colors that made an annual trip to Oshkosh for EAA. I haven't seen it in 15 or so years. Was it sold to someone in England or did it crash? I really miss it!

  • There are 5 Gnats on the CAA register at present. As well as this one(G-NATY) there are G-MOUR, G-RORI and G-TIMM with current Certificates of Airworthiness.
