yeah.. um.. well, no.. There are no stats like Champs (Str, Dex, Spd, etc..) The power frameworks are really nothing like the games thus far (They are getting closer to elemental controls, but, even then.. ) Champs Online is gonna be good, but to say the other games, like D&D or White Wolfs systems suck is just showing what I would say is a lack of understanding..
In a way it would have ben fun to see how Marvel online would have been. But since Marvel are and will always be incapable of cooperating with other people than themselves it would probably have turned out lame as hell. CoH an CoV is still today a very good superhero MMO and more devlopers should look to what Cryptic made with that game and "steal" a few things. I have to say that Champions doesn't look all to good atm tho. DC universe? Well...So far I'm not impressed.
Everything I saw about this game behind the scenes, though most is public now, seems a bit generic. I think CoH/V is a way better game. They just need to get castle & his nerfs out of there and the whole making costume parts unlockable through merits and taskforces. Other than that CoH/V is still the best mmo.

There's also supposed to be DC Universe Online, which looks really fun. But what I'm looking for, is a fully customizable, SHMMORPG (Super Hero Massive Multiplayer Online Game) that lets you choose your powers (or gadgets) completely.

Real poor i mean who wants a substitute for a real heroes game like Marvel universe. There's so much more to work with in a marvel game than any other so they should really work on the marvel game and give up on this pipedream.
If this was some other company with some other game like dimps with dbz vs atrai with dbz then I might agree with you. But crpytic already has 2 SUPER HEAVEY WEIGHT game under their belts just like this one that they're making. Marvel makes great comic books but thet are truly asses when it comes to buisness partners in the video game world. I've never had problems calculating attacks or damage using the Hero / Champions system.
It takes some getting accustomed to, yes, but it's much more logical and intuitive than Rifts for example. You can spend DAYS looking for stats through all their jumbled publications.
I'm all for logic. Thats what got us out of the caves and into the air. But when it comes to RPing I want to RP. Not spend 20 mins figureing out I got hit in the shoe.

I'm really pissed that they screwed marvel over and said they wouldn't make MUO. And what makes me even more angry is their excuse. They just didn't want the competition! However I love Xbox 360 and COH so I'll probably get this when it comes out. I just hope it truly has consul lvl gameplay action and not just another COH with click and pray game. Yeah DSL is the King. 1 it's hella cheaper than cable($30 here in Atlanta).2 what most ppl don't know is it's faster than cable. Learned that in my computer class back at AIA( Art Institute of Atlanta).
For the XBL question, you will not even need Gold Membership to play it. Since its an MMO and has a monthly fee, theyre making it so tha people with regular silve can play it also. Gold is not required, but if you hve it, then you will pay extra,srry.

It would be rather hard for Cryptic to do that. Cryptic no longer has any ownership in City of Heroes, NCSoft now owns the entire game. This was done (supposedly) for Marvel Universe Online... which fell through. Thus it left Cryptic with a half finished game and they had no ties to CoH anymore, thus Champions Online.
