The reserve i imagine was cut away once the none tandem pilot(guy on blue glider) realised he had thrown it to early as they were both to entangled for it to deploy properly. A lot of ACRO and pilots are flying nowadays with 2 reserves, for just those sort of incidents.
The guy on the Blue gliders is at fault as he was higher at point of impacts, he could see from a distance the tandem was starting building momentum for a acro manoeuvre so he shouldnt have keeped flying on that glide path.
i absolutely disagree!! doing manouvers u absolutely hav to make sure theres no1 in ur way, especially if u pilot a tandem, and theres a passenger with u, for whom u ar responsible, and not to mention a crowded/popular flying site!! ur way of seeing things is totally wrong, im sorry. this situation was already a problem in monte carlo in like 1995, i was there, and everyone agreed on this issue.....

This guy is lucky to be alive. Paragliding can be a very safe sport if done correctly and proper knowledge is known. Statistics show that not all paragliding pilots know this information, yet the good thing is that less and less PG pilots are being inured each year. Some day, I might decide to learn how to paraglide, but until then, I'm sticking with ultralights.
