  • It's not the fat that's the problem; it's the carbs.

  • @SnowDog2003 They have a carb tax too, and a ban on foods with over 1% transfats. :P

  • This tax is just one of many attacks on personal freedom and the buisiness community we will see in the next years.

  • OMG WTF!!! Fat is not bad for you. High glycemic foods are what makes people fat. What have humans eaten for 9million years. Vegetable oil and white breat that spike blood sugar to >100? Hell no, we've been eating meat. Nature wouldnt make humans the only animal that preferred food that could kill them.

  • How about fast food restaurants?

  • dont forget that the 55% that was talked about are from 1kg overweight and up, thay werent talking about obese people

  • While making fatty food more expensive did they then lower the prices on healthy food?

  • @Pajstrup Nope, they didn't lower the price of healthy food, they just try to make all other food more expensive... :/

  • as a dane myself all i have to say is:

    Best Idea ever!!!

  • Well, the danish Government is just trying to bring in more money in this finansial crisis. What's more is that actually more than around 55 % of the Danish population are overweight. At some point I see the concern from the Government's side of the case, however, I don't think that this going to make anything good. If they wanted to make real changes they should lower the prices of healthy fruit and healthy food in general (I am danish and I'm no where near being fat)

  • @spyN09 Ofc. and you know that 55% of the population is obese because of ? Hate when tards just toss out random numbers trying to make a stronger point.

  • @Pajstrup - Dude, I don't just make numbers up, what would the point be in that?! It's been investigated before, and the media has pronounced it. Hate when inbreded retards come with something random shit that's really nothing else than useless. Do you know that feeling? Seriously, you just think I would make that number up? I am not even supporting anything in this case I am just barely stating facts.

  • @spyN09 If just have a hard time trusting anything the "goverment" puts out. None of the numbers that have been laid before us have been correct. It's like all research will change now and then to fit the agenda.

Do you have a link that can confirm these facts , would appreciate a site that isn't tied to the current goverment.

I hate being told what to eat, drink or when to sleep.

And saying obese people cost us too much money, obese people work, pay taxes too and therefore pays for it as well.

  • @Pajstrup - The Danish Government isn't like that at all. Some politicians may throw untrustworthy information out during election campaings etc, however, the media makes sure that what's right is the stuff that gets spread out in the news. They aren't adjusting researchs to make a case stronger; the fact that I mentioned was stated a long, long time before this coming into action. I cannot provide a link because it was broadcasted by news.tv2.dk at long time ago. But I understand you.

  • OMG Nik, are you aware that some "fat" people can't help it, sometimes genes have something to say, and only thinking about yourself is excatly the kind of thinking the danish government need to get out of theyre heads. our healthcare system is there to help everybody. and just to go futher, plz tell me why i should pay for YOUR cancer, when i'm perfectly healthy??.

I am a dane myself and i think this tax is a bunch of bullshit, in a year i will proberly have to save up to buy a cake.

  • Hmmmm, this is interesting. If they initiated this tax in the U.S I know there will be a lot of upset individuals.

  • Wow just we people couldn't get any stupider IT'S EVERYTHING IN MODERATION!!!!!!!!!!

  • just ban fat people from eating

  • Wooo my country! :D

This is terrible tho, because our food is already really expensive! :(

  • ahahaaha :D This is stupid. It's personal responsibility as the british lady said. If some ppl want to be fat - let them. It's their own problem.

  • @Niksunzzz

HAHA.... Yes it is. But im not gonna pay for fat ppl going to the hospital. Its NOT there own problem. As they use MY tax money on the hospital, there is no money to cure the cancer i might get. Its not fair cause im healthy.

  • @mikethk so fat people don't pay taxes? such a retard comment, you obviously only think "me, me and me some more"

Do you drink alcohol? then i should bitch about you because i never drink and why should i have to pay for your trip to the hospital when your liver stops working or you need a stomach pump. WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR YOU!

  • @Niksunzzz No it's not their own problem, it costs everyone money when the fat people die sooner and get more diseases, especially when you got universal healthcare like in Denmark, so society has a very good reason to try and stop people from becoming obese.

I personally don't think a fat tax is the right way, better to lower sales tax on healthy foods or something like that, but we will see what this tax brings, I am not too beat up about it. (I am Danish).

  • Ha ha ha. Lazy bastards.
