  • my first experience with warren haynes was at Bonnaroo in '03 when he played his acoustic set on Sunday morning. I was coming off an entire night of raging and trying to just find a chill spot to catch a nap and stumbled on his set. I didn't sleep a wink because i was so stunned at his ability to portray his passion for music through his voice! What a talent!

  • The greatest striaght out of a Van Video in History...You were some really Lucky Fu$#s...lol....at least I live where warren does;-) and his presense is strong here..we are very lucky to have him..

  • I can only sit here and listen. His voice always calms me.

  • This is incredible........whew

  • thanks for sacrificing your enjoyment behind the camera for all of us. Good job!

  • it just doesnt get much better than this

  • True

  • I always love hearing Warren on an acoustic...it's just a great change of pace from the Allman Bros or Mule...his voice always shakes me to the core when he sings Soulshine

  • I have been watchi' Warren since the early 90's and this video since it has been on youtube...I have seen everyone from AC/DC to ZZTop and i have to say that without a doubt, Warren Haynes is the most soulfull man on this planet....it aint even close...d

  • well, on that note...i'm 22 years old and have been listening to the ancestors of previous generations for some time now..and like you, i agree that mr. warren haynes is THE FREAKING MAN.

  • i would say warren's acoustic playing is very rich with tone.

  • Warren is what all musicians should aspire to be.

  • Agreed. Awesome video! Awesome doesn't even begin to describe it!

  • Thank you for the great video!

  • SOOOOOOOO Jealous of the crowd there right now its been a long while since a song brought tears

  • That is me in the orange hat.

I was in the right place at the right time.

Hanging out in Red Rocks parking lot.

Saw Brian Farmer messing around the van and went to see what he was up to. Sure enough he was setting up for Warren and Dave.

Yes I had tears in my eyes.

  • This is fucking excellent.

  • Holy shit! I read the comments before watching the vid. I was doubtful even though I like warren haynes, but Wow! Pretty fucking soulful!!!

  • moments like these are all that keep me from jumping out the window...

  • I have a man crush on Warren

  • this song is touching I was crying in real life! ! ! ! !

  • I always get the chills when listening to "And It Stoned Me", those of you who saw this with your own eyes are very lucky. Amazing.

  • everybody there can go meet there maker now, it just doesn't get any better then this

  • hardly recognized schools without a fan blowing his hair wildly as he played

  • i want to fucking cry....wait i am

  • 650 lbs of great jams, pure joy and lovin the music

  • lol

    ~ beautiful video, thanks lsailor

  • @gratefulpanic5th Very well put!!!

  • I would just like to thank you for taking this video and putting it on the internet. This is by far my most favorite video that is on youtube, and everyone that I show it to is deeply moved by it. Thank you again very much.

  • warren haynes is the greatest

  • peace love and wookies

  • I really wish people would stop comparing different bands to each other, it is what it is!

    Just enjoy the music

  • u said it perfectly. Enjoy the music. The Dead rocked me. Panic rocks me. The Allmans rock me. Neil Young rocks me. Haynes rocks me. BB King rocks me. Elvis rocked me. Johnny Cash rocked me. John Lennon rocked me. It's all good.

  • Awesome!!! that what rock and roll is about. I had the pleasure to meet both guys to of the coolest going keep rockin.

  • that is fucking awesome Schools is wearing a shirt from the Goat in Keystone!! These guys are truly amazing musicians who just love being musicians and sharing with people. Legendary stuff. This is what music is really all about. I had a similar experience with Eddie Vedder at Pearl Jam's first tour on Lollapalooza when their equiptment got rained out and Eddie came out and did an acoustic set for everyone who stuck it out. You knew he understood what was important. Just like these guys

  • Suh-weet, what a treat to be there for this, these guys are really down to earth. Jam on America.

  • bullshit wp is the shit

  • damn...warren is amazing in every way...wish i was here for this.

  • lsailor has some great videos. you should check out the rest of his shit if you haven't already.

  • makes me think of bein a kid. listen to it alot.

  • When you`re looking for some cool warren haynes-widespread panic footage, this beats them all.I love this. Thanks Isailor!

  • Hey Einstein...it's spelled "gourd"....and you are as wrong as you can be on the other drivel you posted.

  • the fact remains. lol. music is opinion idiot.

  • you're right! and the overwhelming popular opinion is that panic sucks. ask a DJ at a rock station. take a survey of regular music fans. the same people go to all their shows... its not "widespread"! enjoy your shitty music!

  • You don't understand how much of an ignorant asshole you are do you? You probably have such a small variety of music. Saying they're not widespread? They have an undeniable uniqueness mixed with roots of American music from everything from blues, country, rock, jazz, and metal that you can't see. Plus "Widespread Panic" was the late lead guitarist Michael Houser's nickname.

  • I don't give a shit how many adjectives you put in front of their pathetic music style, they still blow. The same 14,000 people to go all the shows and most people grow out of it. its a party, not a good concert. I have a very wide variety of music, actually, it just doesn't include shit like this. you call it "undeniable uniqueness" of all those genres... I call it "they can't master any of them and are marginal at all".

  • majority of people at them will be at all 3. Red Rocks only holds about 9000 people. And those shows are basically the center of the universe for WP fans so they have all travelled far and wide for them. I have friends fly or drive in every year for them. The last time the Dead played RR they sold out (completely packed) 6 nights in 7 days and that's without Jerry--there really is no comparison here.

  • I am completely sober; your insult to panic and its fans is completely based off your narrow-minded your opinion that you can only enjoy them if you're on acid? Do you like the Dead or Phish?

  • I've been to Panic shows before you moron. Are you telling me that I didn't hear what I heard? All my friends were lit up and had a great time... but the music was awful. The party was the only good part. I love the Dead.... but not a Phish fan. Panic is like a 3rd grade version of the Dead and aren't even in the same stratosphere in terms of quality music. Fuck you. Fuck Panic fans. and Fuck that lame excuse for "jam band" music they claim to play.

  • I went to over 70 dead shows and have ticket stubs, tapes, photos, and arrest records to prove it, and never on their best night, day or afternoon, could the Grateful Dead come close to what Widespread Panic has become.I don't believe you ever went beyond YouTube to see Widespread Panic.I think you're just pissed off coz you ran out of p ot.That, or you're just cranky because you got sand in your vagina.

  • HA HA HA HA HA HA. did you REALLY just say that the Dead couldn't come close to Panic? get your head out of your ass. that's the dumbest thing I've heard in a LONG time.

  • Not in consistancy of quality performances.

  • also, like Dead fans--WSP fans tend to be pretty knowledgable about music in general. I have a lot of respect for many WSP fans as the scope of their knowledge about different kinds of music is often impressive. I have a lot of fun going to random shows with WSP fans and they always love going to see the great pieces of great bands play in their side projects which I love. Great musicians doing their thing and collaborating with other great ones.

  • I agree man,and since Jerry's passing,WP has more of the "good ole Grateful Dead"atmosphere. And i also agree about the side projects, especially David Schools projects.I also think John Bell could burp and it would sound good.He has one of the most unique voices i have ever heard.

  • Still Widespread has a distinct sound, different from the Dead and Spreadheads know that.

  • Most definately, but i would also add that that WP can do spacy jams, whereas GD seemed to have a bit of a struggle to do the hardcore rockin-type jams.

  • Panic and the Dead, apples and oranges.

  • ha ha... so they are consistently playing average music that no one cares about? you realize that you are comparing a flash in the pan college drug scene band with the Grateful Dead, right? I guess Phish is better than Led Zeppelin, too, huh?

  • Phish has some moments, however, they're too abstract and plain strange at times for my taste. So i say they in no way compair to Led Zeppelin.WP is in no way a flash in the pan band, and are far above average. They're a college drug scene band? What were the Grateful Dead? Are you suggesting the Grateful Dead weren't a drug scene band,or they didn't spring from era of self exploratin and from counter culture central?..Bottom line is, WP is whatever they want to be.The dead were the dead.

  • The Grateful Dead spanned generations and decades. They have several classic live albums and had the equivalent of a 30 year following. WSP concerts are attended by college yuppies with mommy and daddy's money to spend on handfuls of drugs. Did the Dead start that way? Maybe... but they managed to become a top 5 all time band in the process and left a lasting legacy of touring and laid back lifestyle. When the current Panic fans are 35, they will have forgotten how marginal Panic was.

  • Hi Newman,Heres my perception,if you will ablige me?I've had times when i was in a caravan(especially Meriwhether Post Pavillion-(83-85 ?) and others to the Knick,& the Fox 78--80,that i lost complete track of,fair enough?I perpetuated the generational fans with my owm kids +.I'm not talking through my hat when i state my opinions, and i don't speak bout things of leisure.I'm a deadhead(#1)and a spreadhead amongst others (#2).Those who hope for Jerrys twin need find new hope.I have none left.

  • huh?

  • Just letting you know where i stand at man. Also missing memories(for some odd reason:) ) from following the dead.

  • ha ha... that's completely understandable.

  • LOL....You got that shit right brother!

I'm certifiably insane a hundred times over... ;D

    Hmmmmmmmmmm........Wonder if i could get disability payments,lol?

  • Average is what gets airplay, which is why don't even bother to listen to raido at all any longer.

  • that's true for the most part. we have one local rock station that plays obscure tracks from the who, the doors, grateful dead, allman bros, etc. rather than playing the played out hits, but for the most part, radio is a stretch these days.

  • Come on man, I was going to stay out of this but that was a pretty rediculous comment by putting them out there in front of the dead. They have certainly not show the longevity yet (granted there is plenty of time for that--but they have shown signs of calling it quits). They definitely do not have the depth of range and music that the Dead showed who continued to push the limits and expand in various ways. Look, WP fans are rabid, no doubt I give them plenty of respect....

  • The Dead weren't consistant, and these guys are more on than the Dead were.I have been to a lot medocre Dead shows.Of all i have been to,just over half were smokers.I've yet to see a bad performance by WSP.

  • I'm definitely not going to sit here and debate the point on consistency. No doubt you never knew what you were gonna get with the Dead but whether they were on or not, you never knew what the setlist was going to consist of. They had much more to pull from than WSP and were willing to take more risks. I'm not going to make any comment to the quality of the music of WSP or their perfomances--the level of devotion shown by their true fans attests to that much louder than you or I could.

  • Panic fans are very loyal no doubt and they do have a large following but to say that it's on the size or level of Dead or Phish is simply not true. They are even today a very regional band. They come out to Colorado several times a year and they never pack places like the Dead or Phish did (I can't stand Phish for the record)--and the majority of people at those shows have travelled for them. For instance they have 3 shows at Red Rocks this summer, none will be completely full and the

  • Everyone just gots to like what they like!

  • You're so myopic, shouldn't even respond to ingorance.Your myopia is so glaring, and you're so obtuse you don't even have cooth to keep your stupidity out of public forums.I doubt you have the cognicense to be ashamed.

Crawl back into the cave of commercialism and waller in the filth of flash in the pan mediocrity, you semi-literate cretin!

  • That`s it !!!

    Nothing more to say!!!

  • eveb worse...did they encore with brown eyed girl>>>"

why are all the hippie dudes scared to play a dead tune here and there...and i am NOT talkin about a long jam on china/rider or cold rain......it is too bad------the very reason they are able to do what they do is because the dead steamrolled a path for them-------go ahead and bash me for be a critic.....music is all opinions and i am another jerk who cannot settle for mediocre acoustic BS--the guitar sounds wimpy by the way

  • check out the video with derek trucks - old friend. hardly mediocre BS.

and i would imagine the guitar wouldnt sound good on a bootlegged version of a song played thru god knows what, out of the back of a van.

  • never play dead tunes...warren was a part of phil and friends.... so i would say he played a couple of dead tunes.

  • hey lost sailor. thanks for postin the clip. my favorite part about live music is the postive connection between the audience and performer, and this is a true example of that. I love warren haynes, he is the man. I cant wait to see gov't mule this sept.

  • :) Yep..I agree...this was a nice treat. A little music in the lot before the show.

  • rasjvon - if you want to be critical, at least know what you're talking about. no dylan in this clip. try van morrison.

  • jammin dylan, rasjvon...? i'm sorry, what dylan song are they playing?

  • he must be thinking of "rainy day woman" aka, everybody must get stoned.

  • GOD! I HATE (new-age)HIPPIES/fratboys wannabees... LOVE THE MUSIC AND THE VIDEO TOO..

    mule for like

  • this is quite silly......a van and 2 fat dudes jammin dylan for the hippies....sad

  • you are messed up

  • hell yahhhh

  • well keep working obviously your brain is no longer there. now leave me alone asshole!!

  • You are the one that said Greg Allman was "good music", why would he have Warren in the band if he is not good? Seems like you need to go back and do your homework.

  • do some homework my friend, Ray charles, Stevie Wonder, Derek and The Domino's, Greg Allman, Buddy Guy, John Lennon, hello I am sorry that this music is so sub par now a days. I wish with all my heart that music was better but what are you gonna do...now leave me alone.... and always remember folks "friends don't let friends play with bad music".

  • well...the Allman Brothers thought enough of Warren to have him join the band. Homework...hehe...I have seem more shows that most people...about 600 dead and JGB shows...I have seen the Allman Brothers about 50 times...I would say I have done my "homework".

  • All I can say is play with a little soul boys. Come on who do you think you are? Warren please do us all a favor and stop singing!! OUCH!! these people are so high and misguided that they think anything is good. God help us....

  • And your idea of good is?

  • All I can say is.. WOW!

  • Thanks for posting this video. :)

  • What awesome venue for a show! Ya can't get anymore laid back than that! I loved it! :)

  • I too was there. Warren is as close to a R&R God as we will ever get. Thanks and Peace...JS

  • i was there!!!! high as a kite!!!!!

  • I was in the crowd for this slice of heaven! Nice post.......

  • Wow... this is where it's at

  • what was the first song they played?

  • The first song is "And it stoned me".

  • kick ass!

  • They parked in a handicapped spot. Geeze Warren!

  • The part of the parking lot they were in was closed...so they were not keeping anyone from the handicapped spot.

  • Hell yeah great van morrison cover by two of my idols
