Spoiler alert! Don't read unless you don't mind a spoiler. The reason there is no lag in time of transmissions from earth to the ship and back is because it never left the ground. The project was taken over by the computer, and some of the 'events' are virtual reality while the crew is in stasis. The crew was chosen by the computer that is why some who should have' washed out' are there. It also made sure the Mars survivor was on the project. It is a head game.

and why SHOULD they have 'washed out'?? is that those 2 guys who had the heart problems? wouldnt the people at base HQ tell them and whats with the visions from that black guy and his wife when they look onto a horizon? WHAT happenes to the blonde's baby? AND WHICH MARS SURVIVOR IS ALIVE?!!! has all of this aired in the US already? i LOVE this show thx 4 the info keep it coming!! xx
