  • "Stater" here and I've had Jeep's of practically every generation. I liked my Jeeps, but always loved Land Rover and thankfully years ago became able to afford them. Don't even bother about GM 4x4 stuff and Datsun/Nissan 4x4 pickups because I used to tow Japanese trucks out of the mud with my cold-stock CJ5 and a canvas strap. It got very old.

  • I must have a great one, then (The blue one in the still shots near the end of the video). Only problems I've had in 4 years are the drivers lock wearing out and a heater matrix temp sensor failing.

  • To the blue 90 driver. Keep your head out the window mid recovery and do the gene pool a favour.

  • There arent many on road cars that will give you that much fun safely

  • These cars were designed to go anywhere and everywhere. And that is what they do. Until you morons come along anyway. I'd like to see you 'staters' bring your big, steel, testosterone compensating idiot boxes on wheels to australia, and see just how many places frequented quite alot....that you can't get close to

  • The problem here is that you yanks have a completely different mind-set about off roading than the rest of the world.

"Lets go as fast as we can and see who breaks what first" is not off roading. It's stupid. However if you have the money to do so, go ahead. But don't then bitch at people when you're just jealous because their rangie is still running.....

  • The RR is the best off road vehicle ever built the only thing that lets it down in the electrics. Replace every elec part with bosch and all is cool again.

  • You guys can all argue as much as you like but you'd have to admit that this is pretty damn good for a car designed for mostly on-road use and maybe the odd mud puddle.

  • I agree that they weren't the best car Land Rover ever made, but I'm sure you've been told a million times not to exaggerate! I've had mine (the blue one at the end of the video) for over 3 years and the only thing that's gone wrong is a door lock, which was down to plain old wear and tear.

  • @Trevinibadger Try bad build quality :) You get a great one or you get an absolute lemon!

  • the worst car ever made is a p38 range rover they are just constant problems range rover definately made a huge mistake making these vehicles

  • you gotta remember the roads in the states are pretty straight, not hardout bends all the time so you can drive an extreme 4x4 on the road, range rovers are a good compromise

  • whats the sound track to this vid? who by and what track please?, cheers..

  • Great video Trevinibadger!

I Have a P38 4.6HSE (with original EAS) and I love this car.

With adequate tires are really unstoppable in offroad.

  • the vehicles your guys are driving wouldnt make it down my mother in laws driveway. what you call "off roading" we call a sunday drive in the country. i guess we will have to agree to disagree. off roading is a little more hard core over here.

  • I wouldn't disagree that the P38 is doing some tame stuff. The bobtail in the opening clip was kitted up for more extreme off roading, more akin to what you're used to, with lockers at both ends, 35" tyres and some pretty serious suspension even by uk standards.

  • ahh you can always guarantee the bloke that says "mines better than yours" never has any video's to put his money where his mouth is on youtube. your a true armchair off roader kevinpatrick3373!!

  • if this is what you down under guys think is a bad ass off road vehicle then you will be stupified when you see what the hell we are doing over here in the states. this is baby stuff compared to the offroading that goes on over here.

  • Down under guys? I'm in the uk! It's also a road vehicle, so not comparable to the more extreme stuff you might see in the states. The modifications were carried out to improve it's off road ability without compromising it for everyday road use, not build an out and out off roader.

  • the things u make for off raod in the us r jacked up way to high and with stupidly huge tyres no wonder there r so many roll videos from the us they jsut look overly shit

  • No joke I live in southern california and I drive a well trailed out 99 TRD Tacoma everything I've done/added to my truck has a purpose. But I do agree with you on how "most" Americans build useless so called off road vehicles that do more show than go, over here we call them Bro Dozer's. Its really quite sad but its a real big thing over here to have the biggest gas hog on the road and chrome the hell out of it and lift it high enough to walk under.

  • RANGE ROVER THE KING OFF ROAD 4 EVER

  • yep always have been always will be

  • Your choice of music needs attention. Nice motor tho

  • I agree. It had a much better sound track, but due to the current "disabling" of audio soundtracks for copyright infringement, I ended up with this!

  • the music is actually pretty chill idk what ur talking about

  • its all about personal taste I guess, doesnt spin my wheels sorry.

  • thats quality mate - relaxing

  • LOL awesome roll over recovery (Y)

  • Nice run mate. I like your P38A alot. I've posted a video response showing mine which also has Arnott Gen III's, a 2" body lift, extended shocks and bumpstops, sway bar disconnects and 33" muddies. Yes, it still has air suspension of course.

They are an extremely capable off-road vehicle.

  • Do the airbags still work with her lifted like that?

  • yep the bags are what do the lifting they are recalibrated to lift very high when it is set at its lowest setting

  • Good vid,never really seen a p38 offroading!

  • If u went a lot quicker than that, u wont damage ur springs cos range rover's r built 2 wiv stand uneven surfaces at a relatively fast speed. It'll be quite bumpy though! LOL

  • the 02 is the best rr

  • Unless he put Older 95 wheels on this one, it is not an 02.

Later models like the 02's had the lower profile tires and 18" wheels which were not nearly as good as the earlier 16" wheels for off roading.

Therefore, an O2 is not the best, better for offroading were the 95 and 96 P38s

  • The P38 in the video is a 96 model. Mine is a late 95. Both run 16" rims simply for the better choice in tyres.

I've never made the comparison off road to an 02 model, so I don't know which is best, but what I can say is that 95-02 P38s surprise a lot of people with how capable they are!

  • thanks, for the info, and I agree, the P38 with a good driver will surprise most!

  • What tires are you running on your 95, P38?

  • Never mind saw the credits.

  • The P38 in the vid was running 235/70x16 General Grabber AT2 all terrains. For road use I run Michelin Synchro 255/65x16 and for off road I use 265/70x16 (31"x10.5") BFG ATs. You can run 255/85x16, but access setting would be somewhat redundant as the tyres would rub on the inner arches.

  • congrats!!must be the longest trek a P38's ever done without breaking!!

  • Good bit of filming there,I have the same springs on my P38...what a difference, especially on the road.....alot nicer ride than air suspension, and so much comfier off road.....If youre reading this and own a P38 with air,Spend the best £300 you can and fit springs!!! Its the future!!!

  • Gen IIIs are AIR springs dimload.

  • Are you crazy ? I would NEVER downgrade to steel springs instead of air springs.

Better comfort with steel ? NAAAAAAA dont believe ya.

Must admit tough that the EAS on the P38 has had it´s share of problems.

But when they are functioning allright, they are superb

  • how did the 90 driver manage to roll his truck there ?

  • Not too sure. I missed the roll over itself, as I was filming the P38! I think he drove up the bank to his left whilst still under a bit over power and simply over cooked it a bit.

  • very good congratulations

  • Brilliant. Good to see some thoughtful technical driving in a magnificent vehicle.

  • nice rangey
