  • Yeah this generation has sucked for JRPGS. It is true about bad reviews unless the game Is Call Of Duty or a WRPG.

  • Japanese reviewers are just as biased toward western games in general not just WRPGs for that matter, Japn still has an unhealthy superiority complex, furthermore the very nature of a review is bias especially when it comes to reviewing products that are meant for entertainment

  • IGN makes all recent WRPGs released as God-like.

  • i never go off of reviews to by a game in fact i usually buy a game that i know i want an look at reviews after, when im bored or just to see if any 1 else likes it

  • probably cuz those are western reviewers look up japan site to see what ppl think of japan games... i mean there is deff bias in the east twords western games lol just look at 360 sales

  • i agree i see westren games getting near perfect score within the 1st bloodly week

  • Shin Megami Tensei games need to be played by more rpg fans! and we need a smt game for PS3!!!

  • i never trust magazines or gaming media, i really like JRPGs, like demons souls, final fantasy (i like 1-6 more then 7-13), and zelda (its technically a JRPG, but its also action adventure), i have played more but i can't remember or i dislike, and i HATE western rpgs, like fallout (its boring) and mass effect (i hate space), and they are too bias or get paid to say it, i know for a fact that IGN gets paid by xbox and G4TV gets paid by sony

  • "Otaku" makes me laugh. I know what anime fans mean when they say it but knowing the true meaning of the word makes me laugh.

  • I think blue dragon deserves a 9 instead of 7.9 Thats what i'm playing right now.

  • I really don't know if the western reviews are being biased but I much rather have them up there then some jrpgs obessive fanboy up there that gives every jrpg a 10/10, when some doesn't deverse that score.

  • When it's about Jrpg I dont even bother looking at Gamespot or IGN... except for the old one. And anyway for me the video review is just a way to see some gameplay other then the trailer.

  • coolish video dude. 100% agreed!

  • damn right i dont even look on gaming websites or magazines anymore because people have diffrent tastes now with all the games that are coming out, these sort of media go for the big game releases rather than for the genre that has a little following so i make my own decision by looking at trailers and good youtube reviewers like yourself

  • I know what you mean with the biased reviews. Getting a female may not have been the choice to review it, but at the same time regardless how biased it is the review can still be used for a quick overview of the "flaws". Like Ar Tornelico for instance! That game is flawed ohdee but im really enjoying it. Its good to point out the flaws and still admit how much you could enjoy a game. Hell yakuza 4 could be consider jrpg and it got shitty reviews! I love that game! Looking forward to this series!

  • Jrpg´s are the best, some of the them are underrated and others are overrated, and people give them wrong reviews when they deserve better recognition.

  • IGN is a horrible review company and have been less and less reliable for there reviews. But look at what Gamespot did to its reviewer whom gave a spotlighted game a bad review, He got fired. So perhaps its not entirely the reviewers fault, Maybe job security is a concern ;)

  • that there,is one fine jacket your wearin'

  • I can understand that. When I was younger I tended to pretty much get a game depending on how well X-play reviewed it. Its got to be your choice on picking a game. Don't get me wrong its nice to see a review to gather a little info.

  • Good video, i wanted to see some of your views on this topic. I'm eager to see part 2. In my opinion i don't like western rpgs much but most games that are released in this genre these days gets very good reviews maybe because it allows more freedom than jrpgs, which is why jrpg's have a dated feel to them now.
