Girl, everyones a freakin expert! You did just fine, I think you have good form. NEXT time make use of that Awesome round pen in the background! maybe a softer landing! Anyway, I think you have good form. Screw those Know It Alls...
try getting on the correct diagonal in trot but dont do a really fast trot otherwise he'll rush into canter. and also hold his shoulder with your out side rein to stop him evading the bit. basicly just slow everything down in a new enviroment and build up to your desired speed when he's settled nicely. x
to make a horse stop bucking move his ass forward!!! they do it because they are either sore, or lazy and dont want to do anything. the next time move that horse forward, and hold that horn if needed.
um when you feel a horses back arch up spin them in a circle it causes them pain when they have to arch their back and go in a tight circle and they stop
it also might help if you were a good rider and kept your seat
um when you feel a horses back arch up spin them in a circle it causes them pain when they have to arch their back and go in a tight circle and they stop
Most western style riders don't use helmets. A helmet wont save you getting a broken neck or back. Also, it is each and every riders own choice whether or not to use a helmet. So please, STFU. Kthnx. We're all gonna die one day, and if it happens to be on a horse, at least you're going out doing something you love.
I could have been posting on a western horse that pissed him off, tractors in the arena, or you used your reins to hit him which kept his head way to the inside which probably pissed him off as well!!
@sonjarenae I guess you are joking? An injured collar bone is bugger all compared to what could have happened if she smashed her skull in due to not wearing a skull cap. I dont know why I reply to you retards I really dont. Carry on riding without a helmet, its not hard it doesnt look cool and dont go crying about ending up brain damaged for the rest of your life.
Reallyy GREAATT RIDING! Only one problem I see (not with you). His right shoulder is falling in. I could see it in the trot. If you would have made i him pick it up (by tapping it with a whip, not lightly) he wouldve been set up for the correct lead
@luvbliss Also, just to make things clear, I'm not critisizing your riding, 'cause you actually ride really well. But I have the same problem with one of my horses, but I always use the outside leg to make sure he doesn't go side ways like the horse you were riding did. I hope you feel better though. That looked like it hurt.
ouch. cute horse though. why were you pulling on his mouth like that? if you were doing it to turn, you should have used more outside leg to push the horse over.
What? why would i use outside leg if i just wanted him to lope? for the horses i ride, inside leg, inside rein (sometimes outside rein) gets them to lope. i really had loose rein on him until i asked for the lead we all knew he would not get off the bat, so i really cranked his nose in to over-exaggerate the turn into the right to get the lead and used my inside leg as well. he got the lead, but 1. didnt like it>bucked, and 2. i threw myself off balance by dropping my shoulder
@luvbliss that's not how you ask for the correct lead... outside leg would've pushed his body over after asking for the lope. if you knew he wouldn't pick up the correct lead, why didn't you trot and ask again? you're only teaching him to continue to pick up the wrong lead. and grabbing his face to switch leads only throws him off balance. that's also not the correct way to do a lead change. he doesn't learn anything that way.
@luvbliss HOLY SHIT. NO. Never get on a well trained horse. inside rein, inside leg on the girth, outside leg just behind. you let a horse brace on your inside leg, never ask a horse to canter off your inside unless you want a counter canter.
@luvbliss I see what she's saying. Using your outside leg would have gotten your lead, but you really couldn't have stopped him from bucking. There's a horse at my barn that won't get on his left lead, but he's never bucked. You did right by making him turn his head and not drop his right shoulder to pick up the wrong lead. Things just seemed to have gone a little haywire :) sorry for your fall- glad to see you riding again!
Hey you look like a good rider, but you were seriously asking for it not wearing a hat or body protector of any kind! I know you dont for western riding, but it was a horse you didnt know in an unfamiliar place! DUH! Anyway, sorry about your arm and hope it wasnt too awful not to be riding! x
Good rider, you really are, but I wish you were wearing a helmet. I know western riders dont usually wear one.. Its ALWAYS safe to have one on though! Anyways, I subbed(:
every horse has a bad day... sorry to hear about your injury. this is way too familiar to me. my horse was a "broke" mustang when i got her and had not been ridden in almost two years. She was very hard to ride and constantly threw me off...but 5 years later i can ride her without a bridle,i can jump her, and even do some dressage while also maintaining her western roots...every horse is a great horse
Good horse!

Why do westen riders never wear helmets or body protecters!? You probably would of been fine if you was wearing suitable riding gear.

@Rhiasful A helmet or vest wouldnt have protects her collarbone. Helmets are for skulls thats why they're on your head.
