As a T5C owner I can tell you first hand this is the BEST demo of a very versatile guitar. I would recommend running the "acoustic" side thru a pre-amp. I run mine thru an A/B switch then a LR Baggs Venue DI and it makes a difference. On the electric side, I use a Digitech RP355 and use a clean chorus type sound. I currently play at my church and love the T5 thru these two pedals and the church sound system. Also, it beats lugging around 2 guitars and an amp every Sunday!
I finally scraped up enough for a koa T5C. It arrived from GC beautifuly set up and smelling of new laquer. It has instantly become my all time favourite. Words can't do it justice. Try one. Make sure you have a full range amp system for the Position 1 and your favourite guitar amp for the rest. The neck and action just beckon all the time. I love it. Taylor quality. Made in USA.
I expected more research and development would be involved in the creation of this fine instrument. They guy pulled out his pen knife and carved some holes he drew with a pencil comment kind of set me back for a minute. However I am still seriously considering purchasing the koa custom. Nice presentation. Maybe a tad tmi :)
If you can ever make it to a Taylor Guitar Road Show, do so, the rep's are super friendly, helpful in answering all questions, and you get to handle any model they have brought, best of all, they provide special pricing at these shows. They are abit expensive, but I broke down and now have a T5 and 614ce. OUCH
why does guitars that I find cool and good sound have to be so FRIGGIN expensive? They all cost like 3 balls of the vietnamiese orange 7 legged oyster!

can you get a pedal which gives the T5 an electric sound with an acoustic amp? If so, what types are the best
(I know it won't sound as good as 2 amps with an A.b pedal but I'm trying to conserve the price)
