  • It's amazing how professionally the flight attendant handles the situation! 15 SECONDS from when he first contacts teterboro till he gets runway one ready!

  • 5 people fly in Delta Airways ;) hahaha

  • wow

  • Chesley is my role modle

  • how did this happen?

  • @t3hr0bb0 Bird Strike.

  • only wrongs i can hear on this tape is all those different flight # 1529 , 1539 , 1549. is priceless when Sully calmly announces he going to end up in hudson , "im sorry say again cactus?" im sure those pilots had other things to do than chatting with the flight controller , lol :-)

  • That pilot is the best

  • F*&^ You Tubes Forced Commercials

  • Last comment of the ATC .. ( I'm sorry say it again cactus? ) ... Oh can't blame him!

  • Where were those birds on 9/11?

  • how calm can you be! ooft! lol.

  • @ the :58 or :59 mark I think I hear 'somebody' say "IDIOT". Do you hear it?

  • @b4ubcomeold Yeah, it was the first officer.

  • The great thing about this crash is that you can make jokes about it without being an ass because nobody died.

  • Notice at 0:47 that the fuselage is completely intact.

  • People said it was softer than a landing wich you dont expect while landing at 100MPH at a freezing river

  • ''wwwhich engines?'' I'm guessing the ones mounted under the wings, but don't quote me...

  • this Sully guy is just incredible. what a thing to pull off.

  • Cactus 1549, what do you need? I need a FUCKING ENGINE!!!

  • Pilot: "We're gonna be in the Hudson."

    ATC: "... but that's not a runway!"

  • he is really excellent pilot

  • Those ATC guys were on the ball.

  • Dyson hoover to suck out the water good as new...

  • No shit he needs assistance, dumbasses.

  • Revised entry in Oxford English Dictionary for the noun Cool :

    "a Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger"

"..cactus 1529 turn right 28zero you can land at runway 1 at Peterboro.."

    "..we cant do it .."

" ok ..which one would you like at Peterboro ..? ..." "..were going to be in the Hudson .."

" Um .....I'm sorry ..say again ..cactus .."

  • Cactus 1529? IS 1549!! It says 1529!!

  • He is more a pilot than a hero. I'll be damned if almost every pilot flying commercially couldn't pull off the same landing. He is a damn good pilot, but that could be said of every pilot flying commercially.

  • @qwerty112311

I agree but not completely. He was doing his job, but a fine one it was. We have heroes in many professional positions. He did his job, but also more than that. People would have been sorry, but understanding if he crashed the jet and everyone was killed. What made him a hero was the fact that he was able to do things beyond the job that was required. He made split decisions based on knowledge, instinct, capacity and procedures and pulled it of.

  • Thanks xjcrossx for sharing your excellent listening skills and alerting us to the 'idiot' remark that's audible at the :58 mark. ATC work is very demanding and stressful. This controller has learned to allieviate half of the strain by eliminating the 'listening' part of the workload.

  • not a hero at all. He is a great pilot. I am sure he would have done the same thing if the plane was empty.

  • @miketrav are you serious, he saved their lives by doing a great job of landing a plane in a RIVER. im pretty sure thats the definition of a hero.

  • Stupid ass air controller.... the pilot told him 10 times WE CAN'T DO IT and yet he keeps asking, 'well, which runway to do you want?'.... LISTEN!!

  • @prg1972agreee with u:)

  • Poor birds....they all got chopped up in the engines...

  • @SSGTKILL think about the people idiot

  • @SSGTKILL lol

  • FUCK MOBILICITY!!!!!!

  • If that were me flying, I would've been shitting my pants, or sounding like I was being slowly murdered. He's SO CALM. I don't getit.

  • who gets called an "idiot" at :58?? haha probably sully calling that guy and idiot considering he said he has not power and wanted him to enter a left traffic pattern...idiot.

  • YES this pilot was meant to fly this plane on this particular day, he saved everyones life, well done.

  • NOWCHECK THIS OUT : MAKE A YOUTUBE SEARCH ONT HIS ::::::::::: Miracle on the Hudson - The Divine Mercy Story

  • Wow last words "we're going to be in the Hudson"

  • @hellin69 haha yeah, all chill like...yo, we gunna be in there, come over if u wana.

  • 1 thing i've noticed about this whole story is that they didn't mention the co-pilot once. It's not like he just sat back and did nothing. He played a huge role. So, hats off to you.

  • @pogopro Thats what i also miss! It was a team play!

  • omggggg it's a tottalle mircale

  • hats off to the captain!!!! it is hard to believe and yet true that he sounded this calm in such an emergency. likewise were the passengers, no panic, no hysteria, no struggling for lifeboat, just waited calmly in the icy cold water for the rescue, great people from a great nation!!!

  • You got to be kidding me? You really don't know that this was a real landing? If not, you need to start reading the paper or watch the news.

  • Wow, is this a real question?

  • @tcco94 xD

  • yeah were going down in the hudson.

  • this isnt the raw audio, it has been shortened . there are actually always some seconds of pause between the transactions

  • With a call sign like cactus he's like he made the hudson. Good job.

  • The Call Sign is "Cactus" because the corporate office is out of Phoenix AZ

  • I love the profesionalism of both the pilot-in-command and LGA and Teterboro guys. It's not every day that the system works flawlessly all around but this was one of them.

  • umm in no air trafic controller by far buy if you lose radar signal on a plane dont u knida, say wtf hes down or something not just say hey man heres a run way over here u can set her down in

  • My God, he is so calm!

  • Kudos to the pilot. Zen-master cool.

  • He said: "We're gonna be in the Hudson."

  • and the operator said: I'm sorry say again ...? XD

  • "which runway would you like?"

    "we're takeing the hudson..."

"I'm sorry, could you say that again?"

in the background: "Did he say he's taking the hudson?!"

lol that would be so funny if it wouldn't be so serious :D

  • hahahahah that was a good one!!!!

  • Wow...what a cool and calm captain

  • "he said , theyre going in the fucking HUDSON "

  • does it look funny to you people?

  • it it sorta funny how absolutely calm he is. :-)

  • its amazing how calm he is, great pilot. i still like the part "on Runway 1" "uh no, were gonna be in the Hudson" "Say Again?!?"

  • proffesional

  • that pilet is a hero

  • @CrAcKsHoTZz pilot...pilet is not a word..

  • @CrAcKsHoTZz unlike your english teacher.

  • @CrAcKsHoTZz No just a damn professional!!!

  • @CrAcKsHoTZz pilot!!!!

  • @lorrainedelis pilet!!! LOL

  • lmao 1:38 is it that hard to put on a lifejacket?

  • shut the fuck up how would u feel in freezing water and you cant move your fingers

  • lol

  • i wna see you land like that and ur 4get ur name moran

  • The ATC was probally lookin at his map like "I don't see a fuckin Hudson Airport"

  • haha

  • @Baseball5030 never thought of that...lmao!!

  • @Baseball5030 lmao

  • Famous words from a Professional !!!!!!!

  • this is a sped up version..

  • Actually, this is how fast these guys actually talk in busy airspace. There are three major airports and probably six more substantial general aviation airports around NY metro, so these guys and ladies have to all be on it, all the time, at top speed. If you take a police scanner and listen in, you'll know.

  • I was actually referring to the gaps of silence being taken out of this version.. Thus speeding this one up.

  • "which runway would you like in sedaburo?"

"were going to be in the hudson"

"im sorry say it again captain"

i bet the ATC guy was like WTF? the hudson?

  • Teterboro, anothe airport... The ATC guy said he could get his mind there. when Sully said "we're gonna be in the Hudson" ATC said I heard him just fine, but yet I ask 1549 to "say that again" ..

ATC said he thought he was the last person to talk to anyone on 1549 alive!

  • i guess the flight attendants really do need to explain how to use a life preserver. look at the stupid lady at the very end with her vest completely sideways.

  • AtetraTHC, ,tleast that "stupid lady" survived...

  • hahaha

  • where is the rest? i saw on tv where a pilot of another plate talk too.

  • I liked the speed of reaction of ATC to that magnificent pilot. But even when he said he wouldn't make the first airport they still kept giving him options. If he said he was going in the Hudson now you have to believe him! well done

  • "ice cold" is absolutely right!!

  • What's this Capt.'s name?

Whatever it is, from now on it will always be associated with Cool.

Cause this guy is ice cold!

    5Stars

  • OMG

  • I thought the ATC guys were cool ........

  • The pilot was so calm and he had all of those lives in his hand. That pilot is my hero!

  • Who said the pilot was clalm?

im sure he was white knuckling it the who time

  • he was calm... if he hadnt been the plane would have crashed... calm makes for less errors... scared maybe, calm and controlled for sure

  • He knew would land it safely He dint even say mayda we going doing we crashing etc etc.

He was just like "we're gonna be in the hundson"

  • "we may end up in the hudson"

  • Scratch that... you're right he said it at the end.

  • How can anyone not admire this man for his courage under pressure.

Does anyone know the name of the (library) book he was reading that was lost in the accident? I'm game for self-improvement.

  • An American Hero ~ Thank you Mr Sullenburger!

  • The pilot Chesley Sullenburger attended the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. I'd be willing to bet that they are the ones who prepared him to remain so calm and handle the stress of this whole ordeal.

  • the king !.

  • balls. of. steel.

  • balls! of! steel!!

    you betta acks sumbudeee!

  • I admire the pilot's complete presence of mind. He is sooo calm. I mean I know they're trained to be calm, but he's just like "We're gonna be in Hudson" (k thanks, bye. see you later). Heck, even the guys over the control tower sounded more frazzled than the pilot.

    "WHICH engines??"

    "he. ah. birdstrike." :P

lol. no offense to them though. if i were in their place, i'd freak out too.

  • i'm just so enthralled. his balls are like platinum-coated steel. that's all i got to say.

  • I didn't have a feeling he was calm

He sound very focus and a bit worry

  • This recording is really cool. I can't believe how calm the pilot is. Truly an inspiration to stay calm even in the worst situation

202736: he said he got hit

202811: he said he going to the hudson

That's only 35s to decide where to land. This guy is really a fast thinker and a pro. Glad he is. It is funny and very understandable L116 didn't understand what AWE1549 was saying which runway was landing... after hudson is not unusual runway name.

    5/5

  • Wow, the professionalism and composure maintained by everyone on that recording is astounding; especially the pilot! Just... wow! Listening to that cured my fear of flying.

  • who is 1529? On the BBC transcript it say AWE1549?

  • 0:59-1:00 if you leson carefully the guy at the station(not the piolet) he say's You Iditot

  • lol

  • AHh good listenin skills.. I watched another vid with the captions like all day yesterday and i did NOT catch that.

  • this man is truly a hero.

  • the pilot is amazing! He is so calm and collected and that is probably why he got everyone to safety! He could have turned aroudn sure but he knew it could fail and he could have taken out a building, etc..... He made the right move and made great decisions.

    :)

  • this guy is amazing "We're gonna be in Hudson" ......says this as if he was saying "we're gonna be down at the pub chillin out". --- no mention of help or holy dingleberries we're all gonna die. just simply focusing on landing a huge jet of people in a freezing river like he does it every other day. thats confidence man!

  • good thing he went with his gut on this one and didn't try get to a airstrip..nice work

  • That's why I prefer tail-mounted engines. Wing mounted engines, especially bulky, high-bypass turbofans mounted on the wings make for violent and dangerous water landings. The wings need to be clean and free to be able to absorb impact.

  • The BBC World News has the entire conversation.

Its about a minute longer then this shortened audio.

    .

  • Holy crap how would you not be freaking out!!???

  • 9/11 tapes?! ... maybe after 2012 ...

  • Which part of "we're going to be in the fucking Hudson" doesn't he understand?

  • what about the 9/11 tapes!!

  • he said the Hudson you dork! haha
