@metallifreak100 2 things: yes american players have skill, but most of the top 10 or 15 picks are canadians. we also make up the majority of the nhl. as for tim thomas being very solid over his career, hes a journeyman whos been in the nhl full time since 2005 and has only started putting up great numbers in the last 2 or 3 years. its hard to say hes been solid over his career, especially since his 2 vezina calibre years sandwich a year in which he lost the starting job to rask

But my point is that popularity of Hockey is rising in the U.S... I'm from northern Illinois and I have many friends who play hockey and are very passionate about it.. the numbers show this. in 2003 only 14.3% were americans in the NHL, 2006 18.4%, 2011 22%

Furthermore, nearly all of the top universities in the world are in the USA. When I spoke about culture, I don't only mean ethnically/racially, but in also in regional culture, climate, geography, among many others. We have one of the largest and most complex interstate roadways that make travel very easy and efficient. Convenience is another thing you'll find in the US, particularly in the big cities where just about everything is available to you.

@ECLRG10 your highways dont make you great hahahaha. to me a great country is one in which there is health care and welfare for all, as well as safety and security that protect us from both domestic and foreign violence. obviously you wont be swayed in your opinion and i wont be in mine. to me the US does not fit the description of a great country and none of your points have done anything to disprove that in my mind and the minds of others.

@ECLRG10 and at least in canada the poor will get health care. waiting sure beats not being able to afford any health care and ending up dead. in the US there is only health care for the rich, and the GOP is going to try to make sure it stays that way. because god forbid the superrich pay an insignificant amount of their pay checks to help out the less fortunate. i believe in helping the less fortunate but that isnt the american way. you guys just fuck them, shoot them, and bomb them

LOL, hospitals in the United States are mandated to treat anyone that visits the hospital regardless of whether they can pay for it or not. Those bills are paid for by American taxpayers. The new health care bill eliminates this burden on the taxpayer by mandating people to buy health insurance while also providing affordable health care to many that could not afford it before.

(of course you arent, the Man would throw you in the slammer for that down there). the poor who cannot pay for health care and just kept in a state of perpetual debt and poverty as they try to attain second rate health care. the only ones who are entitled to the kind of health care you and me take for granted is those who can afford it.

LOL, when did I mention surgeries? As I'm sure you are not aware that the majority of surgeries are elective surgeries that usually are not life threatening. I'm talking about a poor man that has a heart attack and a doctor in the ER determines that the man will need surgery or he will die. The hospital will perform the surgery regardless of whether he can afford it or not.

@ECLRG10 there is no question you played an important role in those wars (WWI more so) but i also know your importance in the wars is greatly exaggerated by your teachers and governments. it is well known that the russians turned the tide of WWII as a result of their actions at Stalingrad and Kursk, both of which occurred before the US entered the war

I remember hearing about some Cannibal in Germany(I think, can't remember, but some European nation) that held some dude that let him eat his body parts. You have the Crossbow cannibal that was just arrested in the UK. Look at the school shootings list of Europe. There is no doubt that it may happen more frequently in the US, but point is, shit happens all over the place.

It's great that your health care is free and all, but seriously, waiting weeks and months to receive an MRI or any standard test is fucking ridiculous. I've heard stories of waiting weeks to get a prescription written and filled. Sounds like great fucking healthcare........Hahahah, if it wasn't for the United States, the Taliban would still be in power in Afghanistan, Saddam Hussein would still be murdering his people, the entire Korean peninsula would be under communism......

I don't think their idealistic at all. Look at the transformation of Nazi Germany to the thriving German state under democracy today. As I've mentioned already, South Korea is thriving under democracy while North Korea is a shithole under a repressive stalinist state. If it weren't for these extremist groups, I believe we would be successful as the people would welcome us without the interference of these terrorist groups.
