  • I don't even think the chain brake even works on my chainsaw..

  • Comment removed

  • harhar im 14 and just used a brand new chainsaw, the mountfield to cut through the couch we threw out. thanks for the safety tips XD

  • ten years and never once had a problem drop starting a saw holding the top handle.my mate did it the way where you hold the trigger and sawed his toe cap off.how we laughed.the floor start method? if you need to feel this safe with a saw get an office job. chainsaws are dangerous nasty things to be tamed.try getting on a crew if you are too cautious.bit of get up and get stuck in goes a lot further than proper/new way to do things.well thats fate tempted pretty convincingly im off to bed! idiot.

  • I'd actaully argue that the method shown at 0.51 is unsafe. The operator is standing or squatting on the wrong side of the saw.

All operators should be on the left hand side of the saw, away from the path of chain, bar, etc.

  • my dad just bought me a chainsaw for my birthday now i know how to start it safely thx a million

  • That "drop start" had me fearing for that man's legs.

  • the clamp start in my oppinion is a sketchy way to start up a chainsaw. you never know what can happen with a chainsaw.

  • aww that was cute!

  • i drop start mine screw that shit putting it on the ground and stuff

  • I find the clamp or under the leg works the best for me. I took the Arbormaster level 1 Precision felling and climbing course. Well worth the money. I have been doing tree work for 9 years now with no accidents. Knock on Wood ;-) Work safe guys and Gals..

  • I drop start my saw just because logging boots don't really fit in the handle

  • i wouldnt say the drop start is any more dangerous than those starting methods as long as you do it right.

  • i will laugh if u cut ur head off

  • Stihl owners are the most arrogand and ignorant lot of chain saw owners out there. Just look at the comments on any chain saw video or forum. You people suck.

  • i am a stihl owner and i am in no way ignorant i know alot about saftey and cutting

  • A decent video illustrating several safe ways to start a chainsaw, and some problems to avoid. As one reviewer mentioned, your user manual is your first source of guidance.

  • Why does everyone say "buy a Stihl" ???

It's because they are the best !

    I love my 660, 460 and 009.... All stihl saws i need...( well, maybe one day i buy a 880 )

  • Stihl have a lot of devotees. Komatsu Zenoah are their Japanese equivalent. with Tanaka (Hitachi) a close second for reliability. Zenoah (Komatsu) have just been bought out by Husqvarna, Stihls biggest competitor. Buy what makes you happy and is reliable. Poulan was my worst experience.

  • STIHL

  • should of bought a sthil! dumbass!

  • just drop the saw

  • the techniques show in this video are welll out off date. i.e the ground techniques willl increase kick back and take your head offf!

  • boring...

  • Excellent video, kudos to you for taking the time to put this together. For me, clamp start all the way.

  • good solid advice, yes. But that dude is wearing so much ppe he wouldn't last 5 minutes in a full time job. Boots, trousers, helmet and a good head on your shoulders will suffice.

  • Good solid advice (yes, finally!) I like to use the "on the ground" start for a cold saw (big ones anyway), and the "clamp between the legs" when they're warmed up. Good job guys.

  • Finally, some pros with a professional video!

  • Hi. The huskie "on" switch confuses me. There is an arrow pointing towards the "stop" sign. Does the arrow indicate the direction for "on" or "stop"?

I watched the video a few times and you seem to slide it in both directions.

Should I slide the switch to the left or right for "on"?

  • Just buy a Stihl.:)

  • Read your owners manual!

  • saftey first!!!!!!!!!
