I know for a fact that this dyno was not done right. You CANNOT run a diesel through the gears on a dyno and get an accurate reading. The curve will be all over the place with spikes in it. I put my truck on David Dunbar's dyno this past weekend. He has been dynoing diesel's for years. You get the torque converter locked in overdrive, and lay into it at about 2,000 RPM's so that it doesnt not downshift. I was running the "310" test tune from Spartan. I made 560 hp and 1110 foot lbs
You dont know what your talking about. You CAN run a diesel through the gears. If your dyno is calibrated properly and you have an optical sensor hooked up to the crank its more then possible.
A Tqshift 5spd tranny!! That is the only way you can dyno the 03+ powerstrokes. That was not a spike the computer takes the spikes out. HP is displayed in a smooth curve :/
What the hell are you talking about? I never seen a dyno computer "filter" info, if I did I wouldn't trust the reading and have you ever dynoed a powerstroke much less a diesel? You want to give the truck the most time to build power while putting it to the wheels as effectively as possible, hence you make the run in overdrive with the TC locked
Its amazing how many people think there experts on youtube. A dyno does "filter" you can change the sample rate, which essentially takes an average of readings smoothing out the curve. You dont test in Overdrive either by the way. You want as close to 1:1 ratio as possible. 4th gear usually, unless its an allison.
Wow man you are briliant, overdrive(old laymans term) or 5th gear on the 6.4 is when the torque convertor locks and that will give you your almost perfect 1:1 ratio. And that is not the proper way to dyno that truck.
You are the smartest person I know. David Dunbar is one of the best dyno operators in the country, which is the reason Scheid and TS Performance, and numerous others use him for their events. He gets a truck into 5th/6th gear where the converter is locked and the truck wont downshift. The reason the dyno in this video probably couldnt show torque is because it probably spiked the torque reading. I made the same power the "310 " test tune. This dyno is NOT accurate. But keep on thinking that
Oh really so i guess spartan and elite and all the other's have been dynoing these trucks wrong. You should call them on the phone and tell them what they are doing wrong.
Yea, I think that this dyno was not done right. And I dont think there have been any guys make 560 at the tire with just a 275 tune and exhaust on a true dyno run. Most are seeing around 530-540....
Dyno numbers are EASY to manipulate. Behind the seens you can mess with the weather settings, that can add/subtract 50-60hp. If you want more torque a simple change in the roller diameter can get you whatever number you want.
Yeah thats not right, the run needs to be done in overdrive, which depending on your gearing is 55-70MPH. You roll into the throttle, not mash it. You don't run through the gears, your looking at shift spikes.
560RWHP 1163 TQ all fuel nuthin but tune and PDF delete, Cummins Luver :/ There was a dyno day down in texas the other day a 6.4L with a hot SCT tune and a small shot of nos made 598RWHP 1300+ TQ Don't belive it Hang around. Show up at TS ;) you will see 700+ RWHP 6.4's there
PDF delete????? Sounds like you know what you are talking about... Wow you are shocking the shit out of me do you have a 6.4 or are you just quoting what you have seen. I have yet to get my truck on the dyno but i am hoping to make 530ish to the wheels. 2008 6.4, Spartan 275 tune, DP back 4" exhaust, AFE intake and Air Dog FP150.
they probably didnt give you the torque numbers cause you smoked out their shop! lol. awesome truck! i'm running the spartan on mine too.

Thats prolly the best sounding 6.4 ive ever heard.

these trucks are crazy fast dumbfucks. they can make the 600 hp no prob, especially with a 310 tune

Should have used a mustang dyno, dynojets can't put a load on the truck and are notorious for giving higher then actual numbers.

Why was the truck running threw the gears? Every truck i have seen was dyno'ed once the convertor locked? Sounds to me like you spiked the dyno.

Its quicker to calibrate a truck in one gear then get a tach signal from the crank.

Killer truck dude. 6.4's rock. 560rwhp is bad ass.
