Phil Taylor is without doubt the best and most successful player who has ever lived, but Phil Taylor has the second best player who ever lived, Eric Bristow, to thank for his career. It was Eric who gave Phil £10,000 to help him along in his early darts career, on the understanding that the money was repaid when Phil made it big. Now darts fans have to put up with whining babies like Mervyn King and Ted Hankey, who both have less character than a dead goldfish. Eric was a great character.
