the battle between Buffaloes and Lions never fails to amaze me. Lions rarely hunt Buffaloes as prey however when they do they will only ever attack the weak the vulnerable the old and the young Buffaloes otherwise believe it or not it is the Lions that are often the hunted and attacked especially when the Buffaloes are in large herds afterall there is safety in numbers

This isn't revenge. This isn't good or bad. This is a matter of survival. There's really no logical side for us humans to root for. Both lions and buffalo can and will attack and kill people given the proper situation and opportunity. This is how it is. Lions are a factor in keeping the buffalo population in check and vice versa. It's easy to demonize lions and other well known predators but if life were so easy for them, there would be more of them.

Great, if this happens more often then the buffalos will be the reason for the lions extinction... or at least help make them extinct. After all, you need predators to keep the balance; this way the buffalo population doesn't skyrocket too much, and lead to a lack of food for them all.

Lets hope this is a rarity if it isn't already.

If lion's really were eliminated, it would be over a lengthy period, and the ecosystem would find an equilibrium in the long-term. Removing a predator/prey for the most part only causes short-term problems.

WRONG! Lions attack the WEAK, SICK, or the ones who are just too damned SLOW to keep up witht the heard. It's a VERY brutal reality, but there you have it. A lion isn't above scavenging, but the average pride hunts as one. Ambush. These lions were pretty much owned by the healthy heard of buffalo which they helped to create. Poetic justice? Perhaps.
