  • Why are they so disinteressted that there is laying a body 10m in front of them?

  • @MusicBFFF what do you expect them to do?

  • @EldestSauce I have maybe no idea, i guess they were shocked ... by why dont they running in the next moment to the guy?

  • It's just just unbelievable accident...მy brain still can't tolerate this..this horrific ocurrence...eeeh

  • very tragic

  • This was the opening scene of a racing movie that was in theaters in late 1977 or early 1978. Does anyone know the name of that movie?

  • Van Vuuren's injuries were so severe that, initially, his body was only identified after the race director had summoned all of the race marshals and he was not among them.

  • @Blakenicprods nope... They are in shock and a man cannot say how will he react or what will he do when he is in such condition.

  • @Blakenicprods nope. They are in SHOCK and kinda don't know what to do. Also they are very confused and don't extinguish the car.

  • Wow..Zorzi took a glance at Van Vuuren's decapitated corpse before calmly proceeding to extinguish the flames off Zorzi's car...Wow.

  • 00:29 wow if u click it on that point 4 or more times, you see Van Vuuren's arms and body turning and blood gushing, at the bottom/ bottom left side of the frame. Wow.

  • Oh. My. God. :(

  • 0:30 lol ^^

  • @kucknich You are sick to say that is funny! Would you be laughing if you were hit by a 200mph car and riped into pieces. -_-

  • @MrJordan38 That isnt funny. But i think its stupid to run across a track.

  • @kucknich It is abit stupid but his car was more likely to explode killing lots of people. Plus they must of looked but when a car is hitting 200mph after you think it's clear it's not then you see a F1 car coming towards you.

  • @MrJordan38 But why arent marshalls on both sides of track. So i think that could prevent that tragic accident.

  • @kucknich If think the marshall would have a problem getting over that fence xD

  • @MrJordan38 that could be :D

  • Comment removed

  • That must have traumatized the fuck out of the spectators who saw. Awful.

  • 0:30 OMGGG that was that guys head flying through the air right???!

    #shivers#

  • Watch 1:10 the person got smashed :/

  • honestly who runs across a formula 1 track without looking?

  • @MrJudas666666 you can`t calculate a extreme speed like 270kh... i suppose that they saw the car real far away...

  • RIP to both men. Terrible incident. Anyone saying 'wish i ws there' should be ashamed. What type of people are you ? Morons.

  • Such a tragic and in many ways unnecessary accident. It's easy in hind sight I know and these earlier F1 cars were much more prone to fire so maybe Renzo Zorzi's actions weren't too dramatic but none the less the marshalls responded to the Renzo's body language and took crazy risks to cross the track. Add to that the poor safety control standards at the time and inadequate fire safety on that side of the straight and accidents like this were always going to happen. RIP Tom.

  • wat puzzles me is how calm the Marshall an driver are about the dude who got hit!! smh** and it's bcuz of him the Marshall and Pryce died! And yet he stands there like nothing happened

  • @whizzykiddy I doubt they had any comprehension of what had just transpired. I think the first marshall would still be trying to digest that he even made it across.

  • @whizzykiddy He had a job to do was what was probably going through his mind. Zorzi's car (Zorzi being the driver in the clip) was on fire.Besides, there was another car, that nearly hit the other Marshal. Tremayne missed the other marshal by-according to him-"a matter of millimeters" But who knows what they thought that day 34 years ago...

  • @whizzykiddy its because the driver is in a state of shock! he just witnessed a guy get liquified by his teammate and at the sametime, his teammate acclerate into a turn so he knows somethings wrong and its not going to end well. in my line of work, i deal with people going into shock all the time, they dont act normal. hell sometimes its like whats happening around them doesnt register.

  • @marine224a1 O i see

  • @whizzykiddy

Nooo, he did not see the marshall get hit, it happened so fast also his body went under a fence so that's why they were puzzled as to where he was. And they didn't know price was hit as he carried on in a straight line (of course going off after though) and they were too far away to see him go off

  • @whizzykiddy oh c'mon, its called shock

  • 0:30 poor jansen...

  • aww poor dude ...RIP

  • FOR THOSE WHO DON'T GET IT READ CAREFULLY:

1.) The race car driver you see here is NOT Tom Pryce, it's Renzo Zorzi, the unwitting catalyst for this whole mishap. This paticular video does not show price himself (except the end).

2.) On THIS video, Zorzi's having car issues. Off camera, two guys, the marshals, weilding fire extinguishers, are running to the scene. Van Vurren, running right behind the guy seen putting out Zorzi's car fire.

3.) That stuff that flies in the lower left (cont)....

  • @SpukiTheLoveKitten75 ....is Van Vurren, his body basically blown apart into a horrifying mess.

4.) As Van Vurren gets hit, his fire extinguisher (off-screen) whacks Tony Price (also off-screen) in the face, busting Price's neck to the point off near-decapitation, killing him instantly.

5.) The now deceased Price, his body still in the car (all off-screen) continues careening down the track, banging into another driver (who's okay) and smashes into a wall.

    (con't)

  • @SpukiTheLoveKitten75 6.) As all this craziness goes down, the suriving marshal & Zorzi, keeping their cool & trying not to go nuts about the carnage a few feet away, do their thing....The living marshal puts out the fire and Zorzi paces around, nervously. The marshal had to do his job because Zorzi's car could have exploded & there would be more casualties.

And so, for those guys too lazy to read the comments who constantly ask "What's happening?" NOW YOU KNOW!!

  • @SpukiTheLoveKitten75 If you guy's want to see the whole thing, there's the videos for "Accidente Mortale". I, for one am totally horrified. May Price & Van Vurren be at peace.

  • @SpukiTheLoveKitten75 The video "TOM PRICE FATAL CRASH 1977" is the same footage concerning the "Van Vurren" part with Van Vurren body blurred out.

  • @SpukiTheLoveKitten75 "TOM PRICE FATAL CRASH 1977 HD", sorry. (Can't edit these stupid posts after the fact).

  • A person who was trying to help him out had just died in front of his eyes and all this wanker was caring about was his bloody vehicle. Asshole!!

  • horrific

  • You can hear a siren on some versions just after the main accident. Like an ambulance's siren

  • that was funny!!!! hahahahaha

  • @MrBeschissen Du Vollidiot, der ist gestorben, blöder Penner

  • @P2one echt??? dann gefällt mir das ja noch besser!!!! :D

  • the driver did nthing..wtf...just worried about his car

  • @scooby55599 and what would you have done if you saw a ripped apart human being fly over the track!? besides.. maybe he didn't see exactly what it was that came flying, If I was him I would probably think it was some car parts or something at first.. My first guess would never have been "holy fuck a man just got ripped apart and killed!"

  • @rubenick ahhhhmmmmm i wud hav been bit shocked...but not lookin dwn den carryin on wit his car business...nd dont giv me dat shit cos dey wud hav seen blood nd wateva else comes out i dont knowi aint no science teacher :D

  • Luckily these days a F1-track is save. When a car stops next to the track, there will be at least a yellow flag in that section.

It's sad for both Pryce and Van Vuuren. Unfortunately no one remembers the name of the young marshall. But Pryce was not the only one getting killed..

  • @zitmeister1978 they knew there was nothing they could do,

  • I can't remember this race as i really started to get obsessed about GP's the year after this.

This and Roger Williamsons accident are the worst i've seen i think. Tom Pryce didn't stand a chance.

  • The marshall that just made it across by the skin of his teeth was so lucky. He could have easily gone the same way.

It was an unfortunate place for Zorzi to pull up (in a dip after the slight hill) made it impossible for the 2 marshalls to see oncoming cars.

It's such a crying shame that 2 people should die because of a fire that seemed pretty harmless and was almost out anyway.

  • is he ok

  • @SyrannosaurussTumo Why do you have to be such an inconsiderate prick. This was fatal, nothing is at all funny about it. What if that was you being ripped into pieces while you were trying to run across the track and help someone. Go die.

  • did u see how he reacted when the guy put out the fire

  • the dude was in shock, its an instinctive reaction, he knew he could not help the poor marhsall who was clearly in pieces.

  • Holy shit, his body was teared apart, this is disturbing.

  • jacques laffite was right behind pryce but too close to see anything, then behind laffite was gunnar nilsson , he said he saw the whole thing and wanted to retire

from stomach pain and was forced to finish the race.so when pryce hit laffite at crowthorne corner ..laffite thought what the hell this guy doing ..didnt know he was a death driver..very sad

  • seguramente ese we se quedo traumado de por vida

  • Nothing ever seen nothing more horror and terrific... R.I.P Tom & Van Vuuren

  • @edujackass

No, they can't. But we can.

  • @ 0:31 you can see the pieces of bone roll over the street

  • For all those who haven't looked at all the videos... The 'debris' is corner marshal Van Vuuren. He ran across the track carrying a fire bottle (extinguisher). What you don't see in this video but can see in others of this incident, is that when Van Vuuren gets hit at speed, his legs are ripped apart, but the fire bottle hits the driver Tom Pryce square in the head. It partially decapitates Tom, who's car continues on straight down the track at speed until it collides with another car.

  • @devilmaster73 so actually Tom died when he collided with Lafitte didn't he?

  • @Daniel0889 No Tom died from the impact of the fire extinguisher hitting his head at 160+mph, the impact forced his helmet up so quickly that the strap on it near on decapitated him, once that happened his car just carried on hitting anything infront of it :(

  • that is bad RIP :( that is horrible..

  • wtf is going on in this video? i see a driver getting out of his car that is slightly on fire, and that's about it. was somebody supposed to get hit? is that what that debris was? is there not a better video?

  • @epicseeds take a look from a different angle :

  • @epicseeds take a look from a different angle : youtube.com/watch?v=U3C_M5H9oe0

  • this is about as bad as ive seen, there is a video of this crash that shows it from a different angle. Also if you havent heard of russell phillips crash check it out, it isnt until you read about it on wikipedia that you realize how brutal it was..

  • I know this is an awful tragedy, but I can't be the only one that laughed at 0:46 when the fire extinguisher being sprayed scared the piss out of that guy.

  • @zanestickler your peripheral vision suffers when you're wearing one of those helmets, he probably thought the engine blew. I'd be pretty tense

  • This is one of the most horrif things I have ever seen.

  • @FATMANFALLDOWN Dont watch the uncensored video on wiki leaks so... hes only held together by his intestines... poor man

  • @swaaahtome I first saw it because a friend of mine sent me a GIF of the uncensored video. It was really disturbing and upsetting.

  • rip pryce

  • :/ una pena...en esos tiempos los pilotos eran valientes...

  • this is the most horrific F1 crash i have ever seen

  • Read about it before commenting next time Redbird, pyrce WAS killed from the impact of the extinguisher

  • he did not die only the marshall... o.O

  • @RedBird1997 tom pryce suffered serious head injuries by the extinguisher that van vuuren carried with him. both, van vuuren and pryce were instantly dead.

  • @sesselfurzer2000 whos van vuuren? lol

  • @RedBird1997 the marshall

  • @sesselfurzer2000 wait.. van vuuren is the one got hit by another car right... so pryce died bcoz the another marshall used d fire extinguisher for the car and some of the foam went in to pryces head? o.O

  • @RedBird1997 lol no. van vuuren is the one who got hit by Pryce at around 170 mph and the extinguisher of van vuuren hit pryce's head so that the helmet broke and pryce suffered serious injuries. How can any foam get into a head can you explain me how that will work? lol

  • the worst thing ive ever watched in my life, truly awful and shocking.

  • 0:28 damn i forgot to lock the car!!

  • Can someone please tell me what happened and who died? I didn't really understand what was going on sorry :\

  • @rhyswl A marshall ran across the track to put out the fire of the crashed car. He was struck by a car going about 170mph and was ripped in half. The fire extinguisher he was carrying struck the driver in the head killing him instantly

  • 1:17 Holy shit, did I just see someone with its body severly cut in half? Man, you could see the guts, jesus.

  • @OBJones27 Wtf!? This comment is immature, senseless, cold, and honestly fucking evil... A 19 year old boy Was! Fuck 32 people who pressed dislike.

  • Wait, why did he run back? Was there someone else in? (<<<< doesn't understand what's what in F1)

  • While I don't want to be mistaken as being unsensitive and I agree that using the word 'incredible' to describe this is rather tasteless... But this was brought to my attention by one of my science teachers in a discussion about forces. He didn't show this in lesson, he simply referred me to it should I wish to see what one can expect to happen in a high speed collision. After seeing it, I do wonder if showing it to kids might stop them doing stuff like playing by railways. Shock tactics.

  • why didnt the driver go see him ?

  • @MrBananapeal He was blocked by the guy in front of him and couldn't react quick enough

  • Thank god, in the modern days of Formula One, these kind of accidents don't happen anymore. It was a risky thing for both marshalls to cross the track without checking first, whether the track was clear. In that situations they had time enough to react. Seeing that the driver was already out of the car. They should have at least made sure the other cars slowed down by waving double yellow. I don't know if that rule was in affect then??? But it is a shame and sadness to have lost both guys.

  • 1:19 thats the marshals head and arm. Gruesome accident.

  • esse foi o pior acidente da f1 de todos os tempos!!!

  • the story: Renzo Zorzi has a broken exhaust, so he sets his car at the side. Then 2 marshalls come for that car. One guy was called Jansen Van Vuuren (19 years). At that time passed Pryce and Hans-Joachim Stuck side by side. Pryce grabbed Van Vuuren (died instantly), but Pryce gets a extinguisher (from Van Vuuren) against his head and Pryce's car drove a bit further. Then came Jaques Laffite and they hoocked eachohter. Jacques was angry at Pryce but then he saw his face

  • Comment removed

  • Tried to cross the road but one was ran over so it instantly killed the Marshal but his fire extinguisher hit Tom price (the driver who crashed) hit his head and also killed him instantly. He was also at full speed but he was already dead. Then the car crashed

  • What happened was that this guy's car caught on fire so two marshalls

  • so, what did happen?

  • @SPAZZY1912 A marshallsl was croosing the track to the stopped car when Toms car hit into him killing the marshalls instantly ( you see a bit of his body when its slowed down) and the fire extinguisher he was carriing hit Tom in the head crushing his skull

  • @AIBETTSYIA75

    wow,

thats, thats not imaginable, thank god the cameras didnt pick that up...

  • @SPAZZY1912 One camera did but everythings blured and its banned!

  • @AIBETTSYIA75

    was the tape destroyed?

  • @SPAZZY1912 I think so, or given to Toms family

  • check 4:18 of watch?v=tj8VRxp5sDU

  • @aesutton FUCK!

  • @SPAZZY1912

check 4:18 of watch?v=tj8VRxp5sDU , cameras did capture the whole thing.

  • May both of them Rest in peac.....(L)

  • @Maumo0107 This video doesn't show the accident very well.

The car shown is a random one. Tom Pryce was driving his car at top speed, and the man you can see flying there was running across the road with a fire extinguisher... Tom Pryce couldn't avoid the man, who was literally destroyed by the car. About Pryce, the fire extinguisher hit his head, killing him instantly.

  • @Maumo0107 there is actually another guy who was coming behind across the road and he got hit by a car, the red you see at 1:16 it's him

  • awful

  • POrra!!!!????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am a member of some of the death websites and medical record websites ... All I can say is that this should not be on You-Tube. I won't flag it because things like this should be available to help people sober up the reality of death. Please, if there is something we can do to avoid children from seeing this it would be important.

  • Stop, look, listen and think! They're important words kids! If you don't want to end up looking like the spaghetti monster you should be damned sure to emply them before you cross the road!

  • They actually didn't realize what had just happened in front of their eyes; they were too busy with getting the car extinguished.

  • they saved the car instead of the guy?

  • @Mendelevium146 im sorry but what the fuck are you going to save? that guy was deader that dead

  • @Mendelevium146 Nothing left to save, he was literally ripped in half, bits of him all over the track.

  • awesome!

  • @zamoiG You fucking sadistic freak...

  • 0.31 - OMG, A dead body cut in pieces... horrible.

  • renzo zorzi hangs around like ridolini after the engine goesa on fire. i can't believe he and the surviving marshall go on with the extinguisher after what they saw.

  • @ugopelloni i know. it's ridiculous

  • I lol'd

  • @DazzaBo That's because you touch yourself at night

  • @RuudJH Sure I do, right after your mother does

  • @DazzaBo you just laughed at a man getting his hed cut off and another man getting ripped in half, shame on you

  • @awesomenoob6281 that I did, sir. the funniest bit was when pieces of him came off

  • @DazzaBo Go to hell

  • I feel so sorry for Renzo Zorzi - it's one thing to see such an accident on video, but when it's in your face it's indescribable. My friend saw a car accident where some poor fellow got torn in half, and it still haunts him. I can only imagine how Zorzi and the marshal must have felt.

  • Absolutely horrendous!

  • People keep bitching about Zorzi and the living Marshal ignoring Van Vuuren. We can see ALOT of what happened to him in just these videos, but they saw everything. They probably knew immidiately there was nothing to be done. I mean look at how panicked Zorzi is, dancing around his car like his hair's on fire, then he does a double take as Vuuren flies by in pieces, and backs up. He was probably in shock.

  • @ACiDRiFT It's exactly what I've said many times about this incident. It's just not something you can comprehend. The first time I saw the full video, I sat there and watched it three times going "what did he hit?" Then the realization came to me and I nearly got sick. For them, being only feet away they may have had a similar experience and just could not wrap their mind around it. I mean, what do you do even if you recognize what happened.

  • @CombatSportFan Also, there's also that "keep calm, don't panic & be professional" sort of thing that folks in situations like this have to do. The surviving marshai had to do his job & both he a Zorzi had to be keep somewhat cool rather than run off going "OH MY GOD! AUUUGH!", running like maniacs, throwing up & rolling up into a ball. There's also that "Did I really just see that?" factor, the "Now I'm really numb" & the "My peripheral vision caught it & I thought it was debris" factor.

  • @SpukiTheLoveKitten75 Yeah. The second they panic and begin having a fit is the second they put themselves and many others in danger as well.

  • @ACiDRiFT because they acted more concerned about the car then they did about the guy that just got ripped in half next to them.

  • holy shit

  • So anyway, who won the race?

  • @John27346 Lauda if you must know...

  • @John27346 hahahaaha tom did :D ^^

  • Rip to them both. This is the reason safety is such a massive thing these days. Back then the sport was a little on the crazy side if you ask me.

  • omg when they slow mode it i saw the blood just exploding out of his body. this is so traumatizing.

  • lawl at the driver's reaction, he's like, "What's more important? my burnt up car? or that kid that just got torn in half?

  • I think the red thing is a arm on 0:31-0:32

  • ive seen the clip from the back, absolutely shocking, think i'll throw up if i watch more than i have already R.I.P

  • did the fire extinguisher die?

  • Did he died?

  • @MAKNPiez9627 You can't be serious. Yea, he died. Look up Tom Pryce on Wikipedia. It'll tell ya what happened..

  • @MAKNPiez9627 he was ripped in half

  • how come everyone talks about Tom Pryce more than the dude that got hit by his car? i mean the guy got split in half on live tv infront of the world

  • @MannyKunV because Tom Pryce was the only famous one; remember the world cares about famous people more than anyone else. The kid was just some 19 year old who volunteered to help out in the race. Plus with an accident like that, you'd think that the driver (Tom) would be ok but the fire extinguisher the kid was carrying hit tom in the face and nearly ripped his head off. Probably the most bizarre accident in motorsports history

  • @MannyKunV Because he practically commited suicide and took the life of Tom Pryce. Why would anybody do that for an empty car, its just so irresponsible and unfortunate.

  • @darfunkelidas

the guy who got hit by tome pryce's race car commited suicide?

i think your being too much of a fan boy there

  • @MannyKunV First of all F1 pilot is simply more than a race marshall - as much as you may think they are both people (thus equal), they are not equally important and known for general public. Second, it was marshall´s fault and he was theone who killed himself AND the pilot.

  • @despair66

your implying a persons stats is more important than a persons life.

i take it u think starving children in africa is there fault for being born in africa. hate crimer

  • @MannyKunV

its their BAD LUCK. Not their fault but they cant do shit about it. Sucks to be born in afrika.

  • @edujackass

Africa* you're very insensitive about another persons live

  • 0:29 WOW!!!!!!

  • he didnt watch the road. his bad

  • @killer9251 A blind site corner dude, not his fault, he took the chance.

    It was just bad luck.

  • OOEERANGA ,Tom Pryce was Decapited in the medical sense,ie the skull severed from the spine or vertebrae in the neck, the fact his head may still have been connected by skin or tissue still constitutes death by decapitation,as by severing the spinal cord or neck bones (Vertebrae)the body no longer functions and life is extinguished,

  • @zitmeister1978

Afterwards they interviewed the driver and he said he had no idea what happened.

  • They did not realise that the other guy (Janse van Vuuren) were hit.

  • the car could explode, and u have to be an idiot to think that poor guy stil has a chanse :/

  • Whoa crazy

  • The marshal died on impact he was completely torn in half by the cars wing(speed 150mph approx)his legs and pelvis were literally sliced clean apart,he was not decapitated, although the driver of the car was decapitated by the force of the fire extinguisher the marshall was carrying hitting his helmet, tragic and truly horrific.

  • @MrJames27011

    Tom Pryce wasn't decapitated
