Jean- Martin- You are the biggest bull-shitt artist. If you do not understand the meaning of Mbemba, please do not write rubbish. Mbemba means in this context, Ancestor, or grand father.
Jean-Martin Mbemba is a Congolese politician, humanitarian, and civil rights leader in Africa. This song is a tribute to him and his efforts. Basically Salif Keita is giving him a string of praises, so everyone saying it applies to a bunch of people on earth are quite wrong.
@10628138, vous etes un opportuniste....a fanatique aveugle. Cette chanson n'a rien a avoir avec l'avocat Martin Mbemba. Nous ne sommes pas en compagne electorale ici.
You are wrong! Let's forget about politics and talk about our culture. Salif Keita is a monument for our continent.
hey all, could anyone pls tell me the context/meaning of this song? I like this song a lot but I can't seem to find any background info online. I'm planning to use this song for an essay. Any help is much appreciated! =)
I am sure I would enjoy this a great deal more if I understood the language, but that does not take away the pleasure of hearing that voice and that style.

@10628138
well, I think you are wrong.
M'bemba in bambara language means "ancestor".
here Salif Keita sings the praises of his ancestor, as Soundiata Keita, for example, even if his name not mentionned...
