  • there are no films left but a dog named strongheart, who was before rin tin tin, was considered the best until he was shot and killed accidentley, the dog food named strongheart was taken from this dog. rin tin tin is a pup of a german army war dog found by his owner in ww1 and rin tin tin got his name from dolls name, that sounded like rin tin tin sold in europe by french girls durring ww1, rin tin tin was later said to be the best.

  • @eogg25 Laurence Trimble put Strongheart's name on many products. I have an orange crate, potato sack, a deck of cards, and lettuce leaflet with his name and picture on it. Look though my pictues - I have a video from "The Retrurn of Boston Blackie" as well as a dedication to the dog acting pioneers - including the original Rin Tin Tin, Strongheart, and Jean (yes, the Vitagraph dog).

  • @eogg25 You can get the only fully surviving film of Strongheart "The Return of Boston Blackie" on DVD though Amazon.com. There is another Strongheart film stored in a film archive in Paris, France, but they are not going to restore it since it is incomplete and in very poor condition.

  • @eogg25 looks like ur a collector, i was given a book on rintintin this christmas, and am about halfway through it. yes ur right there is one movie of strongheart, i was mistaken. its a very interesting book. strongheart had his own house, his owner actually had a home down the street. someone bought stronghearts house and thought they were living in the owners house until they found out it was the dogs house..thanks for showing the movie of rintintin

  • Thanks indeed. It's a real shame that so few of his films still exist, so few films of any GSDs of that time to let us see them in life, in motion.

  • w rintintin croccantin!

  • This film clip shows that Rin Tin Tin (the first and the best) was a great actor and a beautiful dog. Thank you for posting it here for everyone to enjoy.

  • @Dysthymia9 You're welcome. Remember - this is the original Rin Tin Tin, not the later versions that were in the TV series decades later. German Shepherd breeding around this time was completely different than we see today and you also see this in Strongheart (if you like Rinty I highly recommend you look up Strongheart - he was the first canine action hero).
